  1. Got these ones off trademe. Yea prob didn't explain that well. The lights have a circle cut out of them in the metal where the park lights would go. The hole has like a rubber / silicon cover on it though that looks like it's always been there. Concern is that if I just cut that rubber out and plug in the park lights it will fuck them coz it's a sealed unit.

Thinking theyre just from a metal cast that's used for both types kinda thing.

Raizer, will it not matter that the park lights are orange if I go the indicator way?

    Cheers guys!

  2. Hmm I see, so the park lights are required as well for the warrant? Just focused on getting the car warranted now, as will be redoing all this wiring when I set up spot-lights and de-loom the engine bay.

Is there somewhere in the indicator unit that I could mount the park light bulbs in Raizer? Dam should have got some lamps with the park lights in them!

    Cheers guys

  3. Something funny with the wiring in the new escort around the headlights.

I have some new sealed beam units that have the 3 prongs going into it. The escort loom has 3 wires going to the main unit, and also 2 wires going to what i think is the park light. New sealed beam units don't have the smaller park light in the side of them like the old ones did.

Question is, with the new sealed beam ones with no park lights in the side, does the main unit deal with all 3 light settings (park / lights on / full beam?) and do I not need to worry about the other 2 wires? In theory I should just be able to plug it in and look myself, but at the moment no power is getting to the main units at all as the looms been butchered. Just want to double check how this is meant to work with the new unit before I figure out why there's no power.

    Hope that makes sense!

Anyone know anything about this car? Thinking about buying it an putting my motor in it and wheels on it, then just selling my coupe shell with those modgies and the motor from that car.

Mainly interested to know what the panel / paint work is like? Anyone here in Nelson seen it / own it? Gonna be far cheaper to buy a shell that's already been painted nicely.

    Cheers

  5. Think I have that book as a pdf somewhere. Will look.

Have 1300 pistons in my 1600 with a fast road / rally cam (stage 3 from kelfords) and dellorto 40's. I'd tell you how it runs but I haven't got it in the car yet. Pics/info in my project thread.

  6. What would one of these be worth in standard condition (pretty sure its a 12a)? I've been looking on TradeMe and they seem to be starting at about 6 grand but none seem to have people bidding.

I might have the opportunity to pick this one up cheap as, wof expired in November but the reg is on hold so still in the system etc. Anything i really need to look out for, and what would be a good price to pay, or does anyone know anything about this car. I've never had anything to do with rotary's before so am a total noob in this dept.

  7. Yea have been back to him bro. Sent him a big statement from a lawyer saying what i'm covered under etc, turns out im not covered by the CGA though, only under some other act (misrepresentation of contract or something), he's replied saying he still doesn't think hes at fault etc etc so the next step is court. That'll be expensive if I don't win though, so just tryin' to sus out how much its gonna cost to do it myself aye.

  8. Brought it off a Subaru mechanic who got it with blown head gaskets and did all the work on it himself. Thought it was a blocked radiator that caused it to heat up so had it at the radiator shop who also said they're hard to bleed in. But yea, then tested the coolant with some chemical that checks for engine fumes in the coolant and it rekon's its a head gasket aye.

My thoughts are that the heads went soft the first time it blew, and the guy that did the head gasket didn't bother about them.
