Remove dizzy rotor and engine fuse

The fronts been cut a little already but the flares are just sitting on at the moment to get the positioning right though haha. Guard will be cut / beaten accordingly.
Cheers man.. can't wait to get the damn thing drivable!

Starting to fit the flares
Got this set of flares for $100 off TradeMe, they stick out 55ml. Far better option that the bigger ones that I had. Should look good once the airdam is on and they are molded to the body.

I had a 6 speed beams one for a year or so, and like others have said, I found it really slow. Nice tidy car but to sum it up I'd say boring. Went from a stock standard auto V3 WRX to the Altezza for my daily, and found the WRX to be so much more car in terms of performance, handling, styling, and tbh I noticed bugger all difference in fuel economy. WRX's obviously aren't everyones cup of tea for various reasons, but was half the price of the Altezza and better in every way IME.
just my 2c

1200 +gst for 2 fully rebuilt carbs with linkages and everything tuned to suit my motor. Just have to send him my manifold an he will bolt them up to it and supply new studs for the head etc.
Carbs are currently set up for a 2 litre so was gonna have to get them set for my 1600, was just gonna rebuild at the same time.
Also said he could do brand new ones setup ion the manifold and tuned for 1650+

Have spoken to the guy at Weber Specs just now. Sorted me out an awesome deal on some recon'd webers all setup for my motor so all i need to do is plug in the fuel line and bolt on my manifold. Soo I now have 2x Dellorto DHLA 40's for sale that seem to be in pretty good condition but I've never used them, and also a 32/36 weber on a crossflow manifold for sale if anyones interested.

Cheers for that bro. Hey do you still have the details for the dude that i brought it off? Those rostyles were meant to come with it but I couldn't get hold of him. Still keen to grab them if he has them.

Cheers bros. Haha yea the plans keep growing as they do... I've got a copy of the rally prep manuals so I might take a look. The rear guards are giving a little bit of grief at the moment, I want it to sit a little lower still but without having to narrow the diff or goto flares. Hoping we can roll the guards a fraction more and get them under there! (225x15s)
Next on the list is getting the front splitter on then the engine bay painted up to match the rest of the car.
Also have a whole new front end kit (tca's, tie rods, bushes etc) and all the cross-member / steering / sway bar is being painted in black Hammerite so it should be looking sexy in there soon.
Also looking for a steel flywheel if anyone has one, needs to be drilled to fit the bigger sierra clutch though. I have a standard escort one that's been redrilled / doweled to suit, but has also had a big chunk of meat taken off it... and I've heard mixed things about them exploding.

Ah sweet will give him a PM.
Other 2 door is sold sorry, part of the deal with my mate down here who's giving me some shed space and help to finish this one up.

Might as well start a discussion thread for it too

So after working on This car for longer than I care to admit, I've had a slight change of plans.
Managed to pick up this genuine sport that'd just been painted so made sense to grab that and put the motor / wheels / box / other sexy bits I've been building up in that, and finish it instead.
If anyone knows any history about the car, or has any old photos of it that would be awesome
How it looked when I picked it up
Starting the tear down process
Sorting out the wheels and guards
Paneling the engine bay

I got quoted around $150 - $200 to do an engine bay and cross-member from a guy in upper hutt. Ended up flagging it though as he was booked out for weeks.

Awesome man thanks for that! Will be sending you a PM.

Does anyone know much about these? A friend of mine is quite keen on this or something similar. Interested in knowing how hard they are to get parts for now and how well they are likely to hold their value, what are the sought after models etc. I know nothing about them but I'm sure someone here does!

Hey bros,
I've got these wheels for my Escort, they're 15x8 Superlites with a 4N offset.
I haven't got or decided on tyres yet but I'm thinking I want something around a 40 profile and reasonably narrow. Main problem is fitting the wheels under the rear guards (there's a fair bit of room under the front). Is anyone else running 8's on the back of their Esky, and if so what tyres are you running and did you get away with just pumping the guard out and not having to flare it? I'm really hoping I can get away with just pumping the guard out, but ideally want to know if other people have managed it as I don't want to pump it out if I end up having to flare it anyway.
Not that keen on narrowing the diff or anything at this stage (although there's about 2 inches of clearance still on in in side), as I really like the fat look if I can get away with it.
Keen to know what you guys have done in this area!
Cheers

Is the plug behind the hazard light switch plugged in? I vaguely remember having similar problems, then realised I had that unplugged so the circuit wasn't complete. I think... I could be dreaming?

I just paid $70 for a front wheel bearing at repco for my mk2.... im sure you could find one cheaper but I needed it there and then.

Yep sure did bro.. they seemed really cheap so I was a bit skeptical but they seem fine. They'll be smoothed onto the guard soon as well, seem like a really good fit for a universal flare, the old ones I was going to use were way off.
How long have you had yours on?
