  1. Thanks :D

I have had this idea for approx 8-9 years, where i brought the car for this exact purpose of fitting the flares/wheels/spoilers. I didnt have the spoilers when i brought it but have accumulated the parts from different suppliers over the years, used it as a daily driver and raced it on the odd occasion while i have been collecting parts/funds.

The main supplier of kits is this guy - http://www.geocities.com/toycoolrolla/toycoolrollaparts

    Yes - Watanabe racing wheels - 14x8 & 14x9

Nice man, really like what you're trying to achieve here, 10x better than the normal NZPC cunt look as so commonly seen in NZ...:twisted:

Cant quite see, they Watanabe's you've got for it?

Where'd you end up sourcing the flares/kits from?

  2. OK as requested - a few pics of the 1972 TA22 celica i own :D

As it was for the last 5-6 years

And what i'm workin on at the moment...

    TRD copies :D

full flare kit and wheels to fit

    and front "racing jacket"

    front lip spoiler

theres a ducktail spoiler too but cant find a pic of that at the moment

At present all the front is off fixing rust and sorting the coilover adjustable suspension and associated mods.

Trial fitting of the longer bottom arms!

Gives a lot  of Negative camber but fills the flares nicely

  3. I learnt to drive in a MKV 2L ghia and remember the day i got my restricted, taking it out for a "skid"

Longest burnout i have done in my life - approx 800M-1km

needless to say that dad replaced the tyres on it with a different brand a few weeks later - quoted "didnt get much mileage out of those"

The 2 doors were always something i liked in the MKIV-V's and i remember seeing a mint 2 door 2 tone green MKV ghia in palmie, but the guy wanted 10K for it

  4. Distributed by Nationwide Accessories (Wholesale) Ltd - ph: 07 847 5189 Fax: 07 847 4774

    I ordered 2x 195/45 R14 and 2x 225/40 R14 Toyo proxes T1R

They are an indent order and mine took 4.5 months to get here (they have to make em) mine arrived 2 weeks ago from ordering in march.

if you're lucky they may have got more than just mine in when they ordered them - call and check

  5. I purchased a set of these about a year ago, 14x8, 14x9 for just over $1600 so i think its worth it. (mine are magnesium)

Tyres are very difficult to find though , i have had to order some Toyo T1R's through the distributor (with 5 month wait) to get the sizes i wanted,

    195/45r14 and 225/40r14

  6. looking on some parts websites, it looks like there was 1 waterpump for pre 1970, and one for post 1970.

What the differences are - i couldnt tell you.

I did bolt a MK1 escort plastic fan onto my non xflow 1500 engine that i had built for my consul capri (sold now :( ) many years ago

  7. Unleaded fuel over 6 months old will cause a car to be harder to start.

I went through the same ordeal you had before i drained the tank and fresh fuel put in with an 18r toyota motor that had sat for 9 months.

Unleaded petrol contains more aromatics than leaded to boost the octane. These are more prone to evaporation. esp in older cars with more vented fuel systems

cars 15 years and older possibly have leaded fuel in them which (in my experience) starts far easier.

  8. agreed. everyone knows what a capri is, and how to do them up, and as such, everyone that has a capri does them up and thinks they've got a real racer. me included :D

Been there done that lol even raced it at pukekohe and taupo!

Sadly sold a few years back

[not quite the capri everyone knows though]

  9. ^ speaking the truth, nowhere to mount seatbelts/possibly front lapbelts (trafficators in the way for dirtly big 3 point bolt bolt on b pillar)

If you want safety belts in any car they can be fitted with the right engineering. I used to work for a LVV/Compliance company and the ingenious methods of fitting seatbelts to cars was incredible.

In the case of the ford pop(if its like the old consul i had), you'd probably reinforce the inner roof pressing at the top of the B-pillar and put a dropper off that to the level where the belt would normally be bolted. inertia on the floor/sill at the base of the B-pillar up through the dropper across chest to the buckle and then across hips to the floor.

The real question is.. what is the price (for safety) are you willing to put on yourself or any occupant that happens to be in that vehicle when it has an accident.

  10. I would love to bring 1 or 2 of my collection along, I was hoping to have the engine bay finished on the TA27 celica i have before the meet, better get a wriggle on eh. The white TA22 is nearly always on the road.

I'll try to get dad to bring his RA28 out too,

    :D
