  1. Hey man. Howsit going? My name's Davy and yeah just got a couple of questions for ya.

    I am wanting to get some extractors done up for my toyota 3T motor as getting aftermarket stuff off the shelf here is pretty near impossible. I can get stuff from aussie but redline products are pretty average.

    Are you able to do some up 4>2>1 extractors and also do the calculation/measurements/design?

    Also need an adaptor plate done up for a 32/36 weber carb to fit my factory 3T intake manifold.

    Can you do grinding/porting work? Wouldn't mind some rangi porting on the intake ay, smooth some bits out haha.

    All good dude, well I could make up extractors but is a bit too time consuming for me atm, Id recomend trying STR fabrications Iin Henderson Ph 836 2836 talk to Zahn and tell him Matt Hogg told you to call.

    Can do the adaptor plate easily enough, thats not a biggie (I hope haha)

    And porting work I could do depending on what it is, dont really have all the kit for it but if not can point you at someone that is the mac daddy porter and could sort you out!! Pm me and we can discuss further.

    If anybody needs any steel/ali/stainless fabrication work done, welding, machining or anything. Can do pretty much whatever,modifications to exsisting stuff, custom engine mounts, tunnels, piping, adjustables etc whatever you can think of.. I am a fully qulaified engineer (machining and toolmaking) with 5 years experience so know what Im up to, work at auckland uni (no not studying) have acess to mig, tig, lathe, mill, surface grinders pretty much everything.

    Am in the process of doing a rota van conversion at the mo, so will have some more time coming up..

  4. Hi mate,

    I have converted my gem wagon with a 13b and s4 rx7 gearbox, made mine with the motor as far back as poss, being that the gearbox is waaay bigger than a s1. I will have to make a custom sump, havent got there yet but have pics, and have also made custom front x-member and gearbox x-member. had to widen and lift the tunnel, but I wouldnt have said that it really needed much, but does need doing to make things sweet. if you need any more info pm me, I know it like thte back of my hand...spent 2 1/2 years on mine so far and still going.

  7. got the Gem home tonight and had a good look over it and still only that small piece of rust is all i can find its seriously MINT! only done 120k one lady owner since new had it running tonight for bout a minute with no radiator started first pop! also i'm drifting from the rota idea and thinking chev 308 anyone done this? also PICTURES TOMORROW! :D

    I think Ive seen a 308 done in aus, and a couple of commy v6 conversions - I rekun the v6 wud be the shit in a gem ay, they move those commies pretty well

  8. to put it simply you drill those cones that the bump stops sit on and make smaller ones and put them in i used some off the front of my old crashed lada and then welded some washers in to hold the orginal bumpstops (if i remember right)

    then if you take the crossmember out you can tig them back in and they look just like factory :P

    Yea I know what you mean basically, except for "drill the cones"?? One thing you gotta remember is why those bumps are there, really if you want it to go alot lower than bumpt hieght you need to change the upper and lower arms where the ball joint sit coz if you got too much travel and go over the mad bump all its gunna do is either bend the bracket (hopefully) or sheer the balljoint off, I know I get my gem doing some pretty extreme cornering and fuk wouldnt want that mid turn ay, you know what I mean tho ay bro, not getting at you or nuthin, just spent a long time looking at the shit as I removed the origianl engine mounts off mine and did some mods

Na i dont ay, a "good" mate of mine broke the camera but I'll get some up asap, show the boys how its done. haha :D:D Its mostly underneath where my work has been, seam welding bare metaled the whole front and underneath, undersealed the body and painted all the suspension with 2k silver. lots of time spent on stuff you cant even see, but I know its there.

  10. 17s on that one. Yeah vauxhall. Thats with no springs so cant go any lower. Was just playing round one day while compressing the springs and decided to see what none looked like.

    you can go lower at the front cause its the same height as mine and i still had 2" of suspension travel =about 3" guard drop. you just have to do a little bit of engineering 8)

    What did you do bro?? ive got a bit of idea that I might try oneday, but really what it needs is the bit the the front bumpstop sits on cutting off. But yea keen to know what you did. But yea Ive got new pedders springs for my wag and might aswell have none they sit that low, gunna do some mods so I got a bit of travel, but if I get too much then the ladder bar which I already modded is gunna hit hard. oh, the price you pay to have a hilux hangin :D:D

  11. The rims on both are 17s ay, the other one I had was rollin on 16's, makes it a bit lower, dunno why but Im hanging for some 18's ay.

Hay wildplumdx dude, just wondering whats up with the gem you were looking at, is it that green wagon thats already setup for a rota down your way somewhere??? just being nosey, if you wanna know anything bout putting a rota in a gem feel free to ask me bro, Im a qualified engineer and have just done this to my orange wags, not easy if you gunna do it properly, first thing Id ditch would be the fukd up diff they have, good for nothing but scrap when it comes to a well built rota. but yea anyways, get bak to me. chur

  14. You can use a 2 wheel or a 4 wheel, I think the 4wd ones are a bit stronger, Ive got a hilux diff in each of my cars and they are all good. Both of them are 4.11 lsd but you can get up to something like 5.6 if you are willing to pay for it.

    You will probably have to get it shortened to fit your car, cost me $980 from diffs r us, did a mint job, and the diff itself was $550.

  15. Snell springs in Auckland (penrose) do it for $110 last time I checked, is so much easier to get it done than try do it yourself and how low you tell them to do it is what you get, unlike some other lowering places.

  16. Why dont you go and pay the whole $120 it cost to get it compressed properly?

    Last time I did it at Snells thats what it cost. If you cant afford that, then you shouldnt do it at all, just leave it until you can afford it. Flipping leaves works, and may pass at some dodgy wof place but its such a f*#king mission why would you bother.

    Saves time and hassle in the long run and as someone else said if you have insurance and you rangi your car up then kiss it goodbye for sure.

    Some shit is just common sense.
