ok got the cambelt off dizzy and bottom pulley moves only thing that wont move now is the camshaft hmmm might be seized? Might try the tappets setting as that may be way to tight and are holding the camshaft in the one place? sounds abit far fetched but im desperate to get it working haha

hmm good question we were thinking tensioner way to tight or too loose could cause it u can see the belt sliping off abit but its really tight on there tho we arent to sure how to loosen the tensioner on it so we can try reset it i hope its something simple like that causing it.. but yeah keep them ideas coming because im hopeing the engine isnt fucked

So finally got my new escort home fixed all the wiring and what not. To my surprise it wont start its been modified cam etc.. the crackshalf turns over but nothing else cam wont turn dizzy doesnt turn and u cant even turn it by hand it that tight. I know this engine came out of a working car. So it was going and i find it hard someone would spend a days work putting a engine in the car doing all the mods to make it fit and rewiring the whole thing with all the wanked up guages and what not u can see where hes put all new gaskets and cambelt and know it was fucked to make quick cash. heh im thinking something is seized thats worst case scenerio but also something like timing might be completely wrong or cambelt way to tight or they touched something not really sure, Ive contacted the guy i brought it off he sold it for his friend. So hes trying to find out what hes touch in it. The guy who sold it for his friend brought the engine in the first place for his mk3 cortina also told me he spend big money when he brought it. Then sold it to his friend then he was going to buy it back but i got it before him lol. so yeah anyone got any ideas what could be wrong?

yeah i should but not sure if ill have the time as we gotta make 2 trips there in same day going to be fun :/ first trip hire trailer / pick up car / have a nice slow ride home lol THEN second trip drop back trailer real annoying DANNEVIRKE had no trailers or anything u can hire everything else but car trailers!!!!! lol but for sure will have to come check out ur corty someday sounds like a real beast also gotta check out atropine zetec when he gets it maybe once i got the esky going and shit we can all meet up cant let them aucklanders have all the fun on here

yeah good one. ya could side step the clutch at 6000rpm ill take bets on what blows first clutch/gearbox/diff lol ill say gearbox as the guy who had it blew about 4 auto boxes with the motor but it is now manual so might be different who knows i just hope it goes!!! and better be fast will be picking it up tomorrow from my sisters house in napier so cant wait to get it home and get it going and give it a real good check over

yeah 140k might not seem much but he was running a autobox behind the motor and thats all it would go too hehe and yeah about the a3 being xflow only if the engine i got does have a3 in it must be a regrind of the orginal cam? to a3 specs?? meh i guess i have to wait intill i get it started will be highly pissed if the engine was standard :/ got his address and got lotsa mates so i guess we could sort him out

well im hoping it aint that lumpy as the guy said it got to 140k pretty quick dont want any honda to waste me lol that would be shame other mods are flattop pistons bigger oil galleries and i wouldnt know what else hmm 40mm carbie but he also said it wouldnt idle under 2000rpm eek :/

Hey just going to jump in here and ask a question as u guys are talking about cams dont kill me jerm haha Anyways got me a new escort will be bringing her home saturday shes a 4door with pinto from what the guy was telling me it has stage 3 A3 cosworth cam anyone know the specs? havnt heard it yet as the car needs to be wired up and what not so he could of been telling me porkys but atropine seems to think hes a good bloke. will take some pics and what not on the weekend / put up more specs of it. so yeah who knows the cam specs?

to clean oil off get some engine decreaser from warehouse spray it on and wash it off no more oil

its the 1300 manual diff yeah i never had a speedo intill like 2 days ago and saw what speed it was doing in each gear specialy in 1st and 2nd u dont get much and it revs out quick kinda annoying anyone on this forum hooked up the 5speed to the 1600 pushrod? and yes i already know of that website that tells u how to do it. i wanta know is it worth it

Wondering what sort of speed people get out of there 4speed boxes atm mine seems really close ratio or i got a stink diff 1300 diff so like 4.1? 1300 gearbox on 1600cc motor, were the 1300 and 1600 gearboxs the same? Anyways heres what i get in each gear 1st 20km 2nd 40km 3rd 80km 4th about 130km Atm i got to change gears quick but has loads of torque. U get thrown around in ur seat and going on to grass/gravel is a bad idea dunno about the rain yet? lol yeah so post up ur gearbox speeds escort boys/girls

Hey guys Just an update, jacked the motor up and IT WAS sitting on the frontend so no more vibrating. Cheers for all the help!

well just had a look not a hell alot of space between there if any looks as its sitting on the front end. will try move engine up half a inch to see if it fixes it

its not a new driveshaft its off another escort but it also did it with the old driveshaft and does it as soon as u start the car everything shakes and gets worse/loud when u rev it @ idle and its pretty must constant when driving. tryed 2 different flywheels still does it could be anything as u said

doubt it that because we took out the spilt driveshaft and put in a 1 peice shaft any other ideas?

thats right my car vibrates and no it doesnt have a giant dildo in the exhaust Anyone got any ideas? and its not a small vibrate everything shakes! from steering wheel to wheels to all panels and its loud inside the car real annoying. It only ever started when we put the 1600 into the car It starts from the front and makes it way to the back of the car. could engine mounts or engine being to low in engine bay cause this? or something else? cheers

Ok will try that still gotta put new spark plugs in as only 2 are working properly hehe ill be getting the car tuned probably in the next couple of weeks once my mate has moved to his new house so no rush i guess. But i tell ya what getting the cyliner 3 to run at 130 it goes way better and idles properly now too
