Hey need some ideas what may cause this
just finished rebuilding the head now sparkplug 3 and 4 werent burning at all werent even hot.
going to recheck valve settings tomorrow and leads etc.. but yeah just want some ideas what may be wrong and things i could try. Ive given up for the day
brand new sparkplugs as well so they shouldnt be faulty but anything is possiable i guess

yup the brake booster is right next to the extractors a tight fit and they get pretty hot touchd them by accident when i was fixing the alternator
I can pump them while driving if i need to stop in a hurry they pull the car up nicely but other then that pretty much pedal to the floor.

alittle on the bonnet and like a 10 cent size hole on the chassis but nothing over the top that i can see i think most has been cut out

Havnt really done much to her, Put some flares on and my 13x7 hotwires, replaced rear shocks as they were rooted, put the sport dash in with rev counter was really easy to put in. I thought it was going to be a mission but nope easy as pie
Going to get it certed after xmas was quoted 550 for the cert
currently slowly rebuilding another motor as this one uses way too much oil and still gotta fix a prob with the brakes it stops the car but pedal keeps going really soft even after bleeding it all cant see any leaks or anything so could be the booster?
anyways cares a pic as it looks now
and i should really stop being a lack arse and goto some of the napier meets

Well heres my mk2 esky panel van that i pickd up off tard me needs a few things done to do it but overall pretty happy with it
Totally hate the wheels on it they sloted the rear drums so i can change from 108 to 110 patterns i think and running spacers on the front
It looks so much sexier with my hotwires 13x7" with 215 tyres but with that comes rubing and i went over a big bump and broke abit of guard off where it had been fiberglassed at one stage. Once i get my car back getting extractors and new exhaust made up for it atm. Im going to either get the guards rolld or flared not sure which so i can run my hotwires i just gotta have them on there!
running 2L pinto and 5spd doesnt run the greatest i had about 2 2l powerd eskys and this feels abit slugish so will see how it is with the extractors/new exhaust the mufflers on it where worn out and all holey lol.
Only problem i see with the motor is it blows abit of oily smoke on start up due to worn valve guides not sure it that affects the motor much in performance wise but only blows it out on start up.
but other then that very happy with it and now since i brought it i started to see panel vans everywhere
Ill get some better pics once i get my car back pretty tidy inside.

yea thats what i thought if it was bigger then orginal engine which is 1300cc it needed cert but yet he had a new wof less then a week ago and its been in the car since july /shrug

its running a 2L/5speed just had new wof etc.. I askd him if it was certed? this was his reply
"No hasnt got a cert because it doesnt need one. Had heaps of time wasted explaining that it doesnt need a cert. Is an OE replacement and over 200 vans were origionally produced with 2ltr so isnt a Low Volume Vehicle. Ask any LVV certifier."
is this correct?
Havnt had a look at it in person yet as hes away on holiday but yea any info about the cert thing be good

i had this problem after i rebuilt my mk2 cortina brakes in the front they wouldnt bleed up. Changed everything still wouldnt go hard. In the end the capilers were on the wrong side so the bleed nipple was in the wrong place and wasnt working and putting air back into the system

ahh choice thanks for that, yea i was thinking of just get my flywheel redrill as i was going to get it lightned at the same time

So is it just the clutch i need either hilliman hunter,sierra or the pressure plate aswell
i got a brand new clutch/presssure plate from one of my 2l pinto motors out of a old mk5 cortina i wreckd should be good with the 5spd yea?
sorry for all the questions just gathering all the info haha i doubt anyone here in dannevirke has done this converstion before. I askd my mechanic but he didnt know much about it.

Yea sorry should of said it was for a mk2 cortina
Cable clutch would be the go, not rich enough to buy from burtons

Oh yea i have a hyraulic pedal setup do i have to change to cable clutch or will i beable to use my hyraulic setup on the 5spd?

Yup use the hillman clutch plate(way cheaper) or you can get special ones mad up.
No need to mod the tunnel with the 1600 xflow engine, it just fits (could gently massage with a hammer if needed anyways )
I would use the sierra x-member bolted through the floor, way easier.
Use a single piece driveshaft (cortina/anglia) would be way easier, but the you gotta change the nose so it fits the g-box
I did the convo to my mk1 cortina and my mates mk2 esky wag.
Engine runs real nice with the 5 speed
sweet sounds like a worth wild mod to do no fun driving on the highway doing 4000 revs haha uses more petrol then my wrx
Yeah i have a single piece driveshaft so no need to shorten it or anything ? just change the input nose for it to fit the g/box? and im pretty sure i still have the sierra x-member too so thats a bonus

Im looking at putting a seirra 5spd onto my 1600 crossflow, anyone done this and knows exactly what needs to be done
All i know is u gotta mod the flywheel to fit the sierra clutch,make gearbox tunnel bigger,mod driveshaft to suit etc..
so yea any info would be great if its too much trouble then ill go with my other plan and put the 2L pinto in there lol.

Had this for awhile now but finally getting around to getting this back on the road
Used to be red painted it turbo yellow still needs another coat on there ran out of paint
It had a 1100cc crossflow. Riped that out put a 1600cc crossflow and 4speed c/ratio gearbox in it No major mods on it just the usual 32/36 carby and extractors
Things getting done atm carpet / subaru seats going in it today , waiting to get my front structs/swaybar/brake capilers back all getting recon at my mechanics hopefully have them back by friday lowering the car about 2inches. Im hoping i dont get gaurd rub with my 13*7inch rims with 215/50/R13s tyres but we will see.
Plans for it? get it back on the road save money for engine mods. Fully going to work the engine not sure about twin carbs might go for a fuel injection setup if i can a forward it and wanta put a 5speed box behind it.

i would say either spark plugs or coil packs. I would get the coil packs testd and change the spark plugs if it doesnt fix it then u can start looking at the other things its not cheap to fix

Hey man, did the mk2 cortina driveshaft fit straight into the 5speed box? didnt have to shorten it or anything?
just trying to get some info ive had a 2l esky before but yea thinking about doing the mk2 cortina
and any other useful info u may have that would help cheers

i have a 1600HC in my mk2 cortina well meant to be a 1600 got it from a wreckers they said it was a 1600 but the numbers on it are 711m6015aa
so have no idea what it is even tho it says 1600HC on the rocker cover
only 2 things didnt fit off the 1300 on to it was the sump had to get a bigger one and the water pump wouldnt fit
so anyone able to tell me if it really is a 1600 ? cheers

newest thing ive brought for the esky is twin 40mm dellortos/manifold etc.. oh yes the sweet sound of twin carbs sucking away

yeah i got 4-2-1 extractors, lumpy cam etc.. vortex muffler box and a RPS dumper
just surprising to see the pinto sound different same with my old mans cortina thats different again haha!
aslong as u like it thats all that matters man

leads were newish from old motor will put some other ones on tomorrow
just recheckd the valve cleanaces some were out abit so fixed that, theres good compression on all the cylinders
put another 2 spark plugs in 3 and 4. 4 didnt burn at all and 3 kinda did, Could the dizzy timing be out ?
