  1. amen to original motor idea brother, dont ruin it by chucking a rotor in it, that will just make it fast and then you will be tempted to drive it fast hence more likely to crash it, these cars are so dam sexy would be a shame destroy it....

  3. my ol datsun 180bsss coupe, after hours of reving the old auto piece of shit to 8g and then dumping the fucker into first gear on the diesil with piss poor results, travling home about 3am one saturday morning, comming down the gorge onto wellington motoway the car was fucking going really well, hell fast etc, then put foot down, huge power loss, chopped gear - more power losss, huge bearing noise from front, chopped again and planted so i could get as far as possible.... siezed beside that bushy offroad bit before the first off ramp...

    fucken sat there for like an hour with my hazards on hoping that some nice person would help me.. no such luck, with no money and a flat cellfone battery i walked along the motorway all the way to miramar by the airport, got home bout 5am veryVERY pissed off!

  4. i sure as hell do at the moment!!! sucks up all my money and never seems to get anywhere + i gotta pay for its home of which it has none at the moment!! its sitting on my drive way with no glass and a shitty arse car cover...have you seen the weather in wellington this week!!!!

    arrr just another thing to worry about!, bloody cars!!!

  5. yeh it is in aucks, my mate saw it at a petrol station up there went to talk to him and mentioned what i was building, apparently he was like "i dont give a shit about other datsuns mines the best all the rest are shit" kinda attitude, real arrogant apparently.

    could be wrong tho, id still talk to him if i seen that thing cruising past :lol: , gauge him out for yourself i guess man...

    Fj20et mounted, just have to make gbox mount.

    Front coilovers/camber plates/gtr 4pots and monster rotors all fitted, all intermediate work such as wheel bearings and long wheel studs done.

    Rear end - xmember adjustable camber/toein/4"hole to fit bigarse exhaust. control arms stripped blasted painted, again new bearings and long studs, lsd convo done, still doing: disk brake rear just getting caliper mount milled up, still have to sort out springs/shocks and swaybar for rear. interior recaros mount, still to mount rear evo seat, new carpets, hoodlining etc.

    Main things still to finish: arrrr everything, rearend, rebuild front end balljoints etc. Fuel system, exchaust, purchase a computer, wire up car get running, t04 with lots of boost and link+ecu should be fairly fast untill i can afford a bigarse turbo.

    should all be done by end of year cos i wana cruise whangas!!!

    arrrrr its driving me mad i just want it finished.

    what ive seen done and this is how i intend on doing it is...

    weld a flange onto the lower most point of your tank when its sitting in the car, cut thread in that flange for a 1/2" outlet, now under your back seat gravity will feed fuel thru that 1/2" outlet into a 1/2 litre (or however big you can fit under there) surge tank. run a line to your pump, filter front of the car, and then run your return back to the breather in the top of your fuel tank, running the line back to your surge can cause problems in that there will be to much fuel going into your surge and it will back feed up the 1/2" outlet from your main tank cause presure and all sorts of stupif problems.

    anyway have seen this setup on a datto 1600 fjturbs running aprox 300hp

    so it definitly works and it cant be seen and means youll still have your original room in your boot.

  8. lets not forget the turbo exhaust manfold which with twin turbs will definitly not fit in that narrow engine bay next to and past the steering rack etc... fully custom manifold is what might be called for my friend.

    :idea: jack the car up at the back chuck it on axels chuck it in 5th gear start her up and let her idle away on the axels, the wheels will just spin and you can just hold ye old sandpaper on the rim and polish away, i guess it really only works on the actualy rim dish bit but it still comes out fucken nice!

  10. now im oldskool and still drive plenty of carby cars and they do there job have there place blah blah blah, but basicly a carb is a simple metering device which really has no control over itself other then what it is set to and what your foot tells it to do, injection creates far more potential for power as it is smart and has millions of sensors on your motor telling it when to lean out and richen up makeing for both far better econmy and power.

    but then again with a rotor its all or nothing when you cruiseing and they are always guna guzzle gas anyway, so you may aswell just chuck a hugemungus carb on it.

    bro i hear that 3t headgaskets are impossible to find unless you import it from japan and then they are worth more then the price of the motor!

    id run the 2t if you dont have computer or loom, just run a link computer, alot less wireing and alot less complications + it will make more power and is fully tuneable so if you oneday decide to turbo it, it would go like the wind brother.

  12. swap for mk2 escort pannelvan? reg on hold, have taken it for a wof and done the hard work for the wof, still needs a rack end and a strut bush and sum stupid things like headlight alignment.

    pretty str8 has different colored rear doors, lil bits of rust here and there, white in color, 1600 sport motor gbox and diff, bit smokey, but still goes hard and duz good skidz when its in the mood.

    240ks are the shit and those mean as 510 predessor 410/411 beasts, fuck ive been wanting to start a nz datsun club for a while, this thread shows that there actually might be interest for this sorta thing finally!!

    anyone keen? just start out as a forum and as it grows maybe add more shit to it?
