is there any difference between the l200 box and the 2l n/a sigma box?as in is either stronger than the other?the seem to be the best option for a narrowblock turbo any others?
both will straight swap over with the ex lancer cable clutch setup?
what is the best way to get around the cas and water outlet problem?
is it just a case of bash room for them in the firewall and make the water do a quick u turn and run it under the inlet manifold?
sump need modifying?
all vr4 blocks have rwd mount option?the only 4g63t narrowblock that does?any evo motors have them?
sorry if any of these questions are stupid but i only have a 1200cc ex lancer and pics to look at im wanting to get as much info as poss before i go ahead with anything so making sure ive got everything covered

would a starion box hold up to 200kw?
the main reason im straying away from the starion stuff is the avalibility?i can walk into my local engine importers and get a 4g63t from a vr4 or evo 1-3 (do they still have the rwd mount option?) pretty easily
what gearboxes bolt up to the 4wd motors, their the narrow blocks arent they? people talk about l200 box? being in a ute they must be pretty strong or is it a heap of farking round to get something to fit

so the only "hard bits" for a vr4 compared to a starion are gearbox selection, (i assume custom is needed) and the waterpipes from the block exiting via the firewall?
what have people done here?
or is there more troubles than that?

what sort of power is a starion motor going to be putting out?
i want something around 150-200kw and reliable
That's what I'd be doing anyway, if I wanted to make money.
im not doing it to make money, just wondering what sort of dollars id expect to get back,and if isnt going to be enough i wont bother ,with the rotors i have done its easy to tell cos theres mutltiple for sale at any one time with similar specs
ok ill break it down where i see the cost being
car is allready purchased so thats a nil cost to me
engine $2000 (complete block)
exhaust $1000
gearbox setup and clutch $1000
fuel system $1000
diff $1500
ecu installed and tuned $2500
other stuff like mounts, driveshaft, hoses etc $1000
mags $1500
intercooler setup $1000
cert $500
that sound about right?
so around 13g all up being generous i think and considering macabre has his in and running certed etc for 8g
also what are the niggly things with the vr4 engine?the water lines round the back etc?have been reading up ll the info i can get a hold of but mostr of it is generally just a overview of things and hearsay rather than hard facts and details

finding a starion in the south island would be difficult i think havent seen many for sale and there getting quite pricey in there self
and i certainly havent seen any halfcuts
im also not bothering to mess with factory ecus etc
i want a nice new motor pushin 200kw if im guna do and ex i gotta make sure i can smoke all the retards with there chromes
if it would be worth a 8-10g id be happy,is that realistic?
i know all the costs etc when building a car from scratch as iv done a couple now, both have been with sort after sheels though so have got decent coin back for them
the ex appels to me though as its a straight, rust free body and i much rather spend my pingas on a big hp motor than cutting rust etc out of an old car
macabre how much did just ur engine cost?i take it you got it from an importer because of the writing on it?pm if you like

i have been driving a daily ex for a year now and have been seriously toying with the idea of putting a vr4 motor in it and getting a new daily
my question is this
what sort of price would a vr4 powered ex go for?havent seen any for sale yet let alone ones that have sold so unsure what sort of pingas i would get for mine if i did it
would be long the lines of
standard vr4 motor
aftermarket ecu (link, microwreck etc)
17s
tidy factory paint (bronze)
all the other stuff like front mount good full system exhaust sounds bucket seats.
reason i ask is i dont wanna go throwing money into a pit which im never going to get anywhere near the same amount back, i know ya never going to get what ya put in back but im not going to just waste money at the same time.
just wondering what others think

ok this is a bit
went to adjust the drum brakes on the rear of my 81 ex lancer and i cant find the adjusting bit anywhere
on the other cars iv had its been at the bottom of the drum in the middle the lancer just has two round things
thought they mite be covers but tried to pop them off and no luck
if someone could point me in the right direction thatd be mint as i need to have a play to try and pass warrent as my foot pedal brake reading is down on the rear drivers side

reason is this:
you need the coin in your bank account to get a visa right?not just tickets etc
when they go about granting you a visa they do the checks to see how you have gone about getting that money
the money needs to be built up over a certain period of time and not just a lump sump payment etc into your account (i.e your parents have just given u 5gs so you can get a visa)
therefor selling your car to get 5gs wont work
either way you guna have to save up for a few more months

are there any issuses with wiring when swapping from a 1200 to the 2 litre?
as in do you need to remire anything?

u will get postive camber
can fix it with adjustable strut tops (expensive but the best way) or redrilling controll arm bolts (rangi)
main reason i posted was too put this pic up tho figured another v dub wouldnt hurt

i am looking at getting my ex lowered in the near future
it is my daily driver so there are a few conditions i want for lowering
1.it cant be expensive as any money i spend on this baby means money i aint spending on my other car
2.i dont really want to go to the trouble of shortening my front shocks due to condition 1
3.I want it to be legal as i dont want any troubles come wof time etc.
4.i still want it to look good as other wise theres no point
its on 15 inch rims with 195/50s
i realise i will have to do something about the rear shocks.wat year mirage do the rear shocks come out of??i assume it is a circa 82 mirage???the gay looking ones
how low can i get my front springs compressed without having to shorten the shocks in the front??rxtoy said 3 inches isnt trapped so wat level would be?

yea insurance is a bitch.last week i got the modgies and brand new eagers theived off my car and hav just been told by the insurance company my excess is 800 bucks and they r gona give 1000 for them which leaves me with 200 bucks.how the fuck am i expected to get a set of mods and eagers for 200 bucks!!!

its got a standard rear end, no computer (it says it doesnt have any loom wat so ever so would need to be all wired up) and an exhaust plus cert reg and wof??
to me 14g buynow is way way overpriced for a car that would need atleast another 3g thrown at it just to get it running
its originally a gsr lancer which does count for something but not much and it is very nice but for a car that doesnt really have a cult following such as the rx's 14g is to much
14g maybe if its was finished certed and all good to go, but i certainly wouldnt be paying that
