  1. just to be a bit more subtle about this then the other guys,

there would bo nobody on this site that would think a ford laser is oldschool enough to get a sticker BUT its up to you. you should still be ablt to get one if you realy realy want to.

He would probably have ALOT of people make fun of him, as the only types of fords we have here as oldschoolers are capri's anglia's, escorts etc.

    not lasers

Well put, I'd agree with you there.

  2. lol

defcon will be back in no time on his self righteous buzz and delete all this "gay shit" as he put it

Hey if you dont want me to sort through all the spam for you, mums the word!

Just makes it easyer to figure out whos going/ whats happening.

Now ill leave you to your spam.

    matt.

  3. ^^ Yeah i think thats gota be the best suggestion yet. Good on ya for thinkin out of the square davidian, a massi engine would be sweet!

Money being no object and requiring a tube front most likely- I'd have a blown 540ci monster between my struts :D.

  4. Looks pretty sweet dude, About time some chucked something other then a rotor in an early model 323. I used to have one just like yours, 4 door with hotties, wikid little cars.

Is that a Bp-t engine sitting in there?

    Looks like an awesome project!

  5. ok, i'm trying to sort this out for you.

if they actually said, "yup ill ring you and let you know how much its gonna cost you before we do anything" then they are in breach of their (verbal) contract.

As he paid no money for the verbal contract there isnt any valid consideration and hence no contract? You maybe able to argue that this was a colateral contract to the engine rebuild, that the engine rebuild contract was dependant apon completion of the quote......kinda doubt it tho.

I dont have that great an understanding so dont quote me on any of this.

Pretty sure you'd just have to stick it an pay up :x

This kinda stuff sux, makes you cautious tho.

Bad luck dude, hope runs sweet tho.

  6. only real differance is the ... diff(same as gemmy wagons)'

This is where you are wrong my friend, or most probably misinterpreted what I said the other day. The sedans have the same diffs as Gem sedans and coupes (well, they are most probably differen't internally but I assume you are talking about the mounting of the shocks), the wagons and hatch backs have the same style diffs as the gem wagons. Gotta be careful what you buy there, dont wanna buy a diff with inward facing shocks for your sedan!

Bah , yup your right there . I'd imagin the diff was more highly geared though for the smaller engine. Hmm easy center swap for a high ratio diff? mite be worth looking in to.

Edit **Can anybody with a chevette here tell me if the diff has a torque tube? and how many bolts is the head?

  7. The whole car is built on the same platfrom as the gemini. Body is pretty much the same, only real differance is the engine box and diff(same as gemmy wagons) Dont really like the front to much.... Bit fugly for me.

Cool cars none the less. Think theres a bedford engine that bolts in pretty easy, cant remember capacity tho, might be 2.3 or 2.0?

  8. Think we've all been through this stage one time or another, I've just come out of one! EVERYTHING i changed on the gem didnt work, that is frustration, its all starting to come togeather now. Give it a month or two (or 7 in my case) and it will come right eventually. Feel your pain.

  9. Ahh oops, to used to reading about those bloody ford donks.

Correction : One of the ex fiends on here can probably help you with the right gap setting.

    def'

  10. As 510wgn said, you need to set the gap on the point correctly or else they wont trigger the coil. You need a feeler guage to set them, one of the esky fiends on here can probably help you with the right gap setting.

  12. I think he was concerned with the fuel lines rubbing against the body and waring ect.

Its just what we were told to do and from memory it was about 60 bucks for 6-7 meters- cheaps, high pressure and flameproof :P

    Def'

  13. whats wrong with silicon fuel hose?

Assuming the fuel line he is talking about goes under the length of the car, I believe it has to be metal. Thats what zep and I found when we rang a certifier about running return lines down our cars.

All the criteria you need to meet to avoid certification.

    • the springs or shock absorbers are direct replacements, and

    • replacement springs fit and maintain contact with un-modified OE seats throughout

    full suspension travel, and

    • replacement springs are self-retaining in their seats at full extension, without the use

of non-standard devices such as wire-ties, straps, or external spring locators, and

    • replacement springs have not been heated or cut, and

    • springs and spring seats are not height adjustable (unless OE), and

    • replacement shock absorbers fit un-modified OE mountings, and

    • suspension maintains sufficient travel for safe operation when fully laden, and

    • suspension components maintain sufficient clearance from unmodified bumpstops when fully laden, and

    • a minimum of 100 mm ground clearance exists below any part of the vehicle

structure, or any steering, braking, or suspension component1, and

    • the normal relationship between front and rear suspension height is not unduly affected.
