The problem with old Mitsubishis is you can easily spend 40K restoring one to mint condition and when you are done you will have yourself a car worth 25K.
Have to agree with cletus on this one, they aren't worth very much in rough condition.
It would be a fun project to get one on the road but you wouldn't want to pay much for them.
This makes good sense.. different story if they were toyotas, nissans or mazdas.

I recently came accross an old guy who has been hording stuff since the 80s. He has sheds full of old cars, bikes etc etc. I wont go into detail of the cars he has but there is close to 40 of them.
2 cars of interest to me were a 1978 and 1980 Mitsubishi Celeste.
They are both complete but are not in excellent condition.
The 1978 has rego on hold.
Im unsure what to offer him?
Ideas on value please

Im guessing its a typo. But my understanding is gvms are not easily changed. Not that i want to change it.

I have a 1980 Ford Courier ute. Stock standard 4cylinder petrol.
The GVM as recorded for it is 3500kg.
Most utes of this model GVM are 1999kg.
I was thinking of stretching it at the rear to put a longer deck on it and running another axle. (6wheeler)
Question is.. Will the cert fulla change the GVM from whats on the paper work (3500kg) to what most utes are in this model (1999kg) or leave it as it is.
Can a cert fulla even change the GVM?
Was going to pm Cletus but will ask on here to get other mofos opinions aswell.

How many morries? I'm predicting big moves in the morrie price index. Possible doubling in value, that's $500 profit!
I have 4 Marinas in the shed. They are becoming hard to find in tidy condition. But then anything with chrome bumpers are hard to find in tidy condition nowdays

Thanks, there are a few of us dedicated owners that love the cars. It seems like a few more people are starting to recognise they arent as shite as the naysayers say, especially now that all the cheap ones are gone from years of hate and neglect.
I'd love a 262 conversion, but being an early car I dont believe it will fit in my shell as I dont have the raised trans tunnel or extended front valance.
Interesting. I will have to look at both my 1750 and 2.6 to compare trans tunnels. I just assumed they were the same.

Cool car, great to see there is still love for the marinas. You wouldn't be interested in a marina 262 6 cylinder conversion would you? I have everything from radiator to driveshaft. Borg Warner 3 speed includded.

Erectrical automatic transmission wirings
in Tech Talk

Lots if not all automatic transmissions from around the mid 90s are semi or fully controlled by an ECU of some sort.
Who has had experience with getting them to work when doing a conversion.
For example, I'm thinking of fitting a VK45DE with its factory auto trans to a different vehicle.
How easy is it to get the trans to operate?
