now the car rolls funny in the front when the car turns. It's always previously been quite flat in cornering.
Not sure if it's because it's a little lower and I've crossed some threshold where now the front roll center has moved significantly.

wonder if it's bump steer due to being lowered, has it been aligned since fitting at this height?

  2. at this point you'd have to consider sticking the seats back in for a run just to say "it runs a 13 in street trim" other than the slicks. (assuming it can)

looking forward to hearing what an exhaust can do.. even if it just sounds better with dorts front and rear

  3. I am always amazed at how well the posts in pretty much every thread on this forum can perfectly describe and tell the events so clearly.

    So anyway.

My partner has been fostering a kitten, and a local young "car guy" expressed some interest in rehoming it.
(Someone I'd previously taken for a drive in the Echo in its current state)
After some negotiation I agreed to drive over to his house to drop it off.

I was saddened when I first read this, I thought the echo was being rehomed lol..

as I read further I chortled to myself and was well chuffed to see someone getting to experience some glorious dorts

  4. I'd choose a falcon wagon, (long wheel base, leaf springs, not IRS, heaps of room in the back for stuff)

I'd avoid anything with IRS that cambers out with some weight in the back unless you are going to set it up for towing or you'll just chew out rear tyres(dealing with worn bushes is bad enough alone)

Was that with an EFI engine or carby?
I'm surprised that that much of a minor pipe dia change made it run differently.

yeah with a carby, even if he had explained what he'd done it would have been like another language.

  6. i hope you can make the exhaust sound as good as the intake.

how much do you think it will change power, and if it will lose any lower in the revs and then.. will the change affect other tuned parts (aka, will the trumpet length be better longer or shorter or cam timing/ignition advance need changes? )
when i had an XF falcon 4.1Lwith some mild mods(cam, compression, extractors), going from 2.25" to 2.5" made it doughy lower in the revs, this was tuned back, but i don't know what the tuner had done(15yrs ago before i knew anything)

  7. future test, for space challenged cars

a banana runner (like the difference fitting side draught to down draught for space confines. or hole in the bonnet look)

what about the screwdriver style but 45 degree drilled holes aimed at the centre of the port.

anyone tested the golf ball effect on runners? been ported heads having positive and negative effects. not sure you could print in bumps or holes on the inner surface smoothly?

just some brain farts for consideration.

  8. i will go for the long straight blue ones first, then the weird blue ones, then green because.. different also.

i was talking to a Cylinder Head reco dude(age 65 he was at the time) about match porting to the manifold. and he said some instances a poor match where particularly the exhaust port being smaller than the pipe/flange (aka bigger pipe than the port) helps with preventing a reversion effect(expanding gas though)

would any of this translate on intake runners?(stepped runners smaller diameter than the port)

  9. not so much a specific project,

but a good video channel on metal forming by a coachbuilder in Melbourne Australia

first video is how he's making front and sides of an E type Jaguar bonnet

second video is a few other ways of shaping metal, using a wooden buck for the BMW custom rear 1/4 panel(inbuilt huge flares)

later in the video some welded sections and forms. his channel has many other examples

My XC did this many years ago. Took far too long to figure it out.

mine did this on an XF falcon.. was difficult to find also as at idle it wasn't leaking and the switch area looked clean also. but i gave it a rev and a stream of oil came out of it

(was on the way home 50km to go, engine was getting hotter so i pulled into a service station).. bought oil and crossed my fingers and drove slower.. made it home)
