Had a 87 Range Rover Vogue for 3 years now, the 3.5 injected V8 auto. Very thirsty, but it sits in the shed and tows a horsefloat once a month so hasn't bothered me.
One thing though, if you have one break don't send it to a garage that doesn't know what they are doing. Spent $1100 finding a faulty temp sensor after the previous garage had fiddled with the AFM trying to fix a rich running issue (caused by the temp sensor), and then another $1000 retuning the coil in the AFM to fix their stuff-up.
All for the sake of some proper troubleshooting and a $50 part.
Edit: Oh and the truck cost me $1900 3 years ago, and had done 189000kms, now sitting just shy of 200.
