Used it on my E30, perfect match. Shitty spray job (cos I'm a little bit lazy) but perfect colour. Would be using it on my new E30, but being SA built there is no colour code on the car, nor attached to the VIN

Nice! Better welding than mine

This is a great thread.
JZ/1UZ trump would be choice.
I can't claim the idea, but richy talked about a BMW inline six. Not a bad idea, as theyre cheap. Go for a M50 B25 (twin cam 2.5) which has similar hp/torque to a RB25de? Can run a M20 (mid 80s/e30s/early E34) gearbox for manual. Not overly expensive for these either. If you did, just make sure go for non vanos. Oh, theres also M50 manual gearbags too, but rare.
Shit me a barra tyurbo one with a bit more boost would be hilarious. They make for hilarious skids. That's your fuel economy straight out the door though, mind you.
BUT THE HILARITY!Better off going for M52B28. 2.8, dual vanos, etc. Just need to make sure it comes with the whole loom and EWS bits, or run aftermarket ECU. Also 318i manuals will bolt up (getrag 220) and are readily available reasonably cheap.

Make an M70 fit

I can't help except to say I feel your pain. I am doing the same literally this week as well. Fortunately mine had only rusted in that spot but up beside the speaker on the vertical side, so was an easy patch.
The inner wheel arch was significantly more challenging. Don't remove your inner guards without your fingers crossed, especially if you have a sunroof!!

Also heard good things about Just Rust in Tawa. Haven't been there myself either, but a friend had his E30 floor done there and was pleased with the results.

- the assessment criteria/standards are all visual - if you cant (reasonably) see them they are no longer an issue (eg complainy neighbour has to climb on roof to look into your backyard, not reasonable)
This point is the saving grace in the Manawatu. Specifically states here "visible from the street". Therefore neighbours can see all they like, my entire property is only visible from the street by looking through other peoples, and a few trees fixes most of that

Similar rules here, no more than 1 derelict vehicle. All mine can be moved under their own power if a battery is put in them, and only 1 can be seen from the road. Just need a big shed

Fully justified. Muppets just wasting your gas that way. I've found once told once they learn pretty quick.

Beach sounds mint. But won't be bringing the Range Rover this time, it rusts at the sight of sea water.

The 4wd (terri) models chew that much??
I get that around town. With lots of stop starts and short trips....(Rwd)
My parents one did 14 around town and got down under 10 open road. With Mum driving. Dad was more like 16 and 11. 2004 TS AWD.
In contrast my manual AU XR6 did 11 around town and close to 7 open road, on 91 as well. Main reason I chose the 6 over the 8!

Whats your E36 race car plans?
I intend to do similar, picking up a coupe mid Nov.
Super low key, it's staying a 1.6... for now. Hoping to do a round of 24H of Lemons next year, so just strip it, rollcage and race seat, and I might have some change spare for some springs (spent $800 of $999 max - safety bits dont count)

Glad I came along, food was excellent and so cheap, and company was.... well it was company

Nevermind, seems to have developed a leak since i've had it and is empty anyway

Well the $163.30 quote put a damper on that idea, that's a tad too much! Will try a few other places and see how I get on.

that makes me feel bad for the amount of times i slashed an ac hose at pick-a-part as i flipped the bird to mother nature
I considered that, but would just rather pay a man some money and not stress about it. Car has been pretty cheap so far, and I should be able to sell the AC bits for enough to cover it twice over
-
Thermo King, enviro safe, or someone like that will probably happily attend and de-gas (at a cost I'm sure)
Cheers, have flicked envirosafe an e-mail, hadn't been able to find their website until now.

Looking to remove the AC from a project track car, and wanting to do it safely and legally. Can anyone suggest who I'd be able to convince to come out to Sanson and de-gas it for me? And any guesses on how much I'd be spending?
Ps. Hope this is the right place to ask?
Pps. Semi-related, anyone need an E36 aircon system? Blows cold

Possibly, but all proceeds go to a good cause (Prostate Cancer and Auckland Rescue Helicopter), and not many endurance events around with such a crazy range of different vehicles where literally surviving is more of a goal than winning.

So the question is. What should I do with the green telstar, it runs and drives perfectly just wants a front bumper. It's deregistered so track car???? I've driven it with my other ones plates on it hahaha
24 Hours of Lemons track car? Well and truly qualifies, and would be pretty quick. Bit late for the first round but they are aiming for 3 events next year. www.24lemons.co.nz

But is it a significant enough power increase? Factory figures show 108hp for sohc zc, 120hp for dohc. So a little over 10%?
Or is the power increase figure only with regards to needing a cert on the oe engine modified?
In which case one could argue its the stock engine, just has a dohc head bolted to it. Which you could have done with the old engine.
Be like a non type r integra having a type r engine fitted, both are stamped as b18c but one is more powerful
The power increase figure refers to "bolt-on" modifications to the existing engine such as intake or exhaust mods, or perhaps injectors etc. Any engine replacement making more power needs a cert, even one making less power needs a cert if it is a different series of engine.

Its a bit of a guzzler. Being such a big engine and truck. I also have a heavy foot.
Think last time i got 19L per 100km. But was hot as hell so ac was going flat out and the heat tends to screw with tank pressures which affects things
Makes my RR look bad. 22 per 100 towing the float. Don't use it enough to care though.
-
I think the heavy towing with 4x4s is often a poozer due to coil arse ends that aren't designed to carry a decent trailer tongue weight and all that sorta stuff.
use a caravan spec towing stabiliser set and it tightens them up and makes you feel a lot more confident on longer trips I find.
That's what i love about my RR Classic. Has a load leveling strut between the rear axle and the chassis. Some slight sag with 2 tonnes of horsefloat+horse on it, but feels comfortable and safe, definitely doesn't feel compromised like my AU Falcon did with a loaded car trailer.
