  1. 50,000% do a ride forever course. They're easy enough. Start at Bronze even if you've had some decent seat time. I've learned a few skills from those courses that have saved me more than once on the road. Countersteering effectively mid corner to miss people over the centre line and being comfortable to slam my brakes on at max capacity whilst doing 100KPH come to mind.

Still yet to do a Gold course. But I did Bronze before my Restricted assessment and silver before my full assessment. Used them both as refresher courses for the licenses.

  2. Good yarn. Did enjoy.

These oil pumps are small little fangers. Look like this:

And this is how it gets it's 36.8% higher flow volume:

I'm banking on the fact that this engine has two fifths of fuck all power in the scheme of things that this will just slowly dribble more oil around the place. Some guys actually go for a modded oil pump that has a little tube braised in to take oil from deeper in the sump/middle of the crank case - this is generally for the wheelie boys as when the engine is on an angle the pump starves in stock form. They look like this:

To be entirely honest, temps seemed pretty good after the cooler was added. But as it's taking the oil from after the 1mm restricter that feed that barrel/head - this may or may not help. Time will tell - pump is here anyway so it's going in.

It's been good doing all this work so far, most advice I've had from people that have googled the fuck out of it was slightly different to my real word results. EG: higher capacity injector wasn't needed like everyone insisted (and the haphazard Thai kit even came with one). Stock injector had a lot left in it and still isn't running at full cycle.

Unfortunately now I get barry questions from Honda 125 owners asking how much they can mod their bikes without tuning them. Good times. Dynos are scary mmmkay.

  3. Oil cooler mission on the Wave has been a success. It's been an interesting journey. Finally took the bike for some runs after the Dyno and it was getting a bit too hot. Most people upgrade to a high flow pump at the same time as a big bore kit but I just sent it.

Oil temps are only coming from a splash bath in the left side of the barrel - temp comes from the gap where the cam chain roller is. Looked into cooler options and unlike the Lifans you can't just put a different attachment on the head and tap into oil. I had to replace the bottom right stud with a slotted version that fed oil from there. Lots of reviews online saying it's terrible. Sent it anyway and have successfully had temps drop.

Oil pump is here now. Will see how it goes - hopefully much happier. I have also found videos of Thai/Indonesian/Filipino dudes just drilling into the right hand crank case and taking oil from there. Maybe one day if I'm brave enough.

Keen to come ride bikes with a FOAMER/FOAMERS?

If you want to ride in 2024, now is the time to start thinking about it.

    Costs:

You'd wanna book flights by August/September and they're likely $1200-1500 based on current prices.

After that it's nothing but save save save save. Get some travel insurance sorted. Hurry up and wait etc.

Plan to take another 4-5K with you. (Bike/accommodation/fun money)

    HOW:

Express interest at the idea of it. I'll likely be doing a loop from Malaysia, through Southern Thailand and back into Malaysia. Two incredibly beautiful areas of the world. Most just plonk themselves in Vietnam for a few weeks and thats good fun. But this route is incredibly varied, full of incredible sites and it's a part of the same route thats used for many RTW motorcycles.

Confirmations will likely be mid winter this year. Thats just a commitment, and then a plan to buy your flight not long after.

All bike guff/accommodation/parts aquisition/routes etc I can sort.

Just turn up, choose a bike and ride.

I'll be going alone or otherwise. Feel free to consider joining.

I now have some proper guff for people to read about this if interested. Looks like there are only a few spots left at this stage.

Let me know if you'd like some light reading.

    In other news,

We have done some shopping in preparation for this event!

     spicy snags,

     pork snags,

    Lamb and mint snags

    BACON

(More meat than a FOAMER's anal cavity)

and 54 cans of beer, and some soft drinks/water.

    Shits gonna be sweeeet!

My butthole is actually incredibly tiny I'll have you know. Can't have a big wang and be in FOAMERS.

Have a great ride everyone, be safe/do a skid etc.

I done the TT2000 on the Harley over the weekend. 2000ks in 48hrs and collect a minimum amount of points.
It was crazy, saw some people doing some really stupid riding just to finish in time but over all it was pretty cool.
The group I joined finished with heaps of time to spare!

Started in Gore, finished in Picton!

Always enjoyed the idea of this event. Whats the pace like for a team that finishes early?

  7. In my short stint at Bayride, we had 2 of these come in quite cooked. Both had been due to an air intake full of dirt/mud as well as the radiator. I remember designs were changed at some point as ya mention and things got better. But always worth checking that after every ride if you can/if it's the model thats susceptible to that.

Agree with experience to all of @Mop Head observations.

Also of note is the cutch works as a centrifugal oil filter and the housing around the retaining nut will have a thick layer of sludge in it that's worth cleaning out if you're in there too.

Still no big bore kits on ali express for these motors sadface.gif. but they do sell rings that seem to be ok.

The earlier 110s ones had the CDI pickup on the head and you could easily advance the timing and get a fair bit more speed out of them. The later ones have the pickup inside the flywheel and it's not so easy.

    CT Barry out

    Woooooo.

  9. Yeah a safe bet for any horizontal Honda that has more than 20,000KM is to replace the following:

    image.png.bcf2c04ca9b90a2111ba28a8abcb7848.png

    Part number:
3 - the whole thing usually comes with No. 4
9 - these wear out naturally, check out a pic below for mine after 12,000KM.
    2 - Cam chain
    1 - Cam chain gear
11 - other gear, this often ends up looking like a sawblade.
7 - the entire thing though, again can usually be bought all in one. That rubber stopper on the top often wears through.

Also be sure to bleed the cam chain tensioner properly after replacing everything as many don't (I didn't even know it was a thing until I rebuilt my motor with @Kass). When we did mine, despite the rest of the oil being a nice colour, it had a nice little pool of butter chicken juice escape from there.

From yarns with other people that have used their horizontal Honda a lot, it's best to keep this stuff on hand and do it every 15-20K Km.
