  1. Got some epic footage this weekend! Will throw it together over the next few days. If anyone wants to throw me their footage to edit then im keen as. Also keen to see what other people create. @Duke Blackwood was it you I saw filming my WOT 5th gear tyre popping skid at the end? Keen to see that!
  2. Yeah true. Duhhh Callum. Was more wondering about any sneaky slippery slides along the way that it's worth stopping for. Got my short shorts ready.
  3. Consider this your reminder to get your spares sorted. Tubes, plugs etc etc. Don’t forget! All these are spoken for. See youse fellas sooooon.
  4. Also; a good watch for those who haven't come. This is the first year. We had a whopping 14 riders. Different route in 2019 for some of it but it was still loose.
  5. Works on apple if you save the file to a computer ; email it to yourself. Then download GPX Viewer or similar and open the emailed file in there. Great success. Still just banking on being J's best mate and then it's impossible to be lost. Right?
  6. Problem there is I'm a hard cunt in a real gang that's scary and has vests. Soooooooooooooo. I'm already giving up my Kaiser helmet for safety. Can't sacrifice much more. If you wanna get inbetween the real dirt track action you know where to find us.
  7. I remember both years previous that even when it was so hot that you’d wanna pass out while stopped; as soon as we went into a valley or a road which was blocked from the direct sun I got cold real quick. I was surprised at how cold I got tbh. But then on the same day I was swimming at Rere falls because it was too hot. Layers are good. Also means that we can just strip for each other as entertainment beside the lake.
  8. It’s my racing DOHC pedigree; extra CC And extra gear that sucks that precious fuel. Still should manage with just a couple of 1L cans. Excited for no beer crate this year.
  9. 145km to a tank. 4.5L tank 32.2222222222 km’s to a litre. Pretty chuffed! Means my backpack only storage system is gonna work out mint. Not long now!
  10. Shakedown/range testing going well. 60km so far and the needle starting to drop finally.
  11. 1st Cape ride steed and pilot photo shoot. Technically the beer crate was registered.
  12. First year I had lost my mirror; bike was lowered and did a head check before a long sweeping right hander just outside of gizzy. We’d had a tonne of cars passing dangerously. Looked for too long and went into the grass on the edge of the road; stayed on. Then lent a little to get back on the road and the footpeg dug in and I went flying. @Raizer legitimately thought I was ded. So I’m big on mirrors these days. And don’t like my bikes so low. Not sure what happened last year; but yeah. There were a tonne of times where one would stop on the side of the road and people would all stop and take up the whole shoulder/spill onto the road. Something we’re pretty mindful of these days. There will be a chat before the ride including things like chuck up a Shaka hands if you’re stopping for a piss/photos and no one needs to help you. Just gotta be on A game and ride to your own ability; not trying to keep up with people like @BLIZZO who is confident and an absolute machine on gravel. Oh and no riding one handed taking photos on your phone around blind tight gravel bends. Saw that last year and it gave me the shits Apart from that most people not finishing has been due to bikes being poo.
  13. Starting is eaaaasy. Finishing is the fun part. Don't have to finish on your own bike either. @GuyWithAviators did a miraculous bike swap thanks to Chris and Bort having a love tap on the first day last year. This was my prize the first year.
  14. Yeahhhh. To those that have never been before this is literally just a result of J5’s thoughts with VG. The first year was less than 20. Mainly mates. It’s grown a lot. It aint a competition in any way shape or form. Anyway; got a WOF.
  15. We're heading down on Friday AM; early. Keen to convoy if you're doing the same.
  16. Prepping a road legal 49cc Motard for the event. New tyres and Chain today. Now for everything else! Got new front and rear pads/shoes for my bike + new black and gold chain for extra nangs. Looking forward to getting amongst it! 4 Stroke for the win.
  17. Yeah semi exaggerated. Just more recalling the events of last year. With the 2 vehicles + both towing trailers we were pretty set. There were times that we lost one or the other vehicle which definitely slowed things down a bit. More vehicles with much less cell reception and added remoteness was just making me ponder. One of the trailers fell apart on the first day and then on the second day the tow hitch snapped too. So emergency repairs with an arc welder and 8 pairs of sunglasses managed to make it get through the event. But also was a bit of an eye opener. Definitely needed both trailers and the room in all vehicles was eventually taken by riders who were off their bikes till repairs could be completed. I have been skimming over this thread so haven't kept up with whos doing what. Just felt like one of the vehicles might be half full of people already and in the worst case scenario having someone with a cooked bike but no space in the vehicle would be a bit of a stitch up. I get people wanting to join along because it's fun as fuck. But it's a motorcycle trip; of which all of us that are riding bikes have prepared for significantly and many have even purchased bikes specifically to come on the ride. If I didn't have a bike to use I wouldn't come. I already had to stop a possible 4th vehicle hitching along for fun because they felt like they were missing out as that was just not at all needed. We're all adults and of course people can do what they like. Just less stress for Mr J5 would be ideal. Also tubes etc; this is the last week I'll guarantee I can get them in before the ride. Lemme knowwwwww.
  18. Jesus are we gonna have like 18 support vehicles? Sounds like a headache to me.
