  2. I thought I heard turbos are really unreliable and need rebuilds and stuff every 6 months

Nope, one of those urban legend stories that would've been started by some twat that didn't know what they're doing / talking about.

Twin 101mm turbos, 4000hp, 240mph street legal. They get rebuilt at the end of season (so once a year)

  3. 3 "reliable" options i've done in the past are,

1: BMW K1 16 valve head. Move a couple of water and oil passages and ya good to go (sorta)

2: Kad 16 valve head, direct bolt on (mostly sorta)

3: Z-cars rear engine kit. Deffo NOT a bolt in option, but can be reliable (dependent on powerplant chosen)

Z-cars kit with an R1 is the best way to shit ya pants and not give a f 'bout who knows it.

Yes all 3 can be daily'd and can be reliable.

  4. Is Andy updating anywhere regarding the 5 sec quest? Would be interested to hear how its going.

By the way Tom, we need to start a proper discussion thread for Drag Week once it kicks of in Ohio on 9/11...

Yep, here. Closed group but just ask to join.

Just had a nosey of that yellow bullet forum, seems to be full of 14 year olds

    Yep LOL.

I agree ..... and 14 year olds with lawyers at that !

Well most of them like to 'think' they have lawyers haha.

  5. Cool victor but its not a street car in my opinion.

Pretty sure schumacher racing could take a top fueler to Nigeria or something and get it registered as a road legal car. Would that make it the worlds fastest street car?

    Road tax.......MoT..............BIVA passed...................full insurance................driven on the streets....................

Pretty sure that's classed as a 'street car' in the UK.

  6. whoa lol hit a nerve

the record is not the question for me I just love the concept of drag week, covering so many miles in unsuitable vehicles then turning things up to kill and ragging on them following by trying to limp along and repeat for five days.

the record thing is a big bag of snakes because everyone has their own definitions and every country or state has its own rules as to what is or isnt legal and plus people bend those too.

personally I dont see any of the five second cars around as street cars and very few if any of the six second ones.

but dont get me wrong RV1/2/3 is awesome and I love it, I just love larrys nova a bit more regardless of which is faster.

and well freiburger changing his mind on or bullshitting about something  never would have guessed!

next thing you know those arabs will probably actually throw enough money around to make that devel thing run then we will all eat our shoes.

Yeah man, could say that 'bout the "nerve" thing LOL.

(Old oz super gas racer from waaaaaaaaaaaay back here)

It's just your previous reply had the hallmarks of the f*ckwits all over yellowbullet.

Out of all the 'contenders' i have the most respect for Andy and Larry.

Andy because of.well...ya know.............the underdog thing.

Larry because, yes his Nova is kick arse but because he's never once said anything derogatory 'bout Andy or his previous world records.

Also the fact he took drag weaks "unlimited" rules with the S-10 to the umptenth degree.

Another one to watch is Cline. Consistant 6's in a steel car is nothing to sneeze at.

As far as Putz and Bailey go, well..................pffffft.................

Bailey is just a big mouth with some sort of god complex.............

And Putz...................well...............if you build a race car and use silicone to make it 'look' like a painted weld on a customers roll cage..............do you really have the right to call yourself a "fabricator".

Keep an eye on Reece Fish, he's hanging up the TF gloves (as is Marsh) to concentrate on getting the '56 into the 6's (street legal)

Hmmmmmm........the arabs.............there is talk of one or more teams looking seriously into the "street legal" battle and taking it to the Americans.

Andy has announced he'll be taking RV3 to Bahrain after the Sept' Euro finals this year, and with Shane being Andy's tuner as well as EKanoo's tuner shit's going to get serious.

  7. are they going to take it to drag week though?

    Why?

Don't understand why that seems to be every ones response to anything Andy says or does.

Early to mid' last year the mouth that is Freiburger made the statement that Hot Rod magazine will pay to get Andy and the car over for drag weak, Andy said yes, no problem, ready and willing. Then Freiburger took the offer off the table.

But I guess a world record doesn't count unless it's set in the USA.

(Bit like the "world series" of baseball LOL.....pfffffft)

PS: Andy has already taken the car to N.America twice.

  8. Oh yeah, that's right..

    I saw this t'other day

    26843534275_3c0f57c302_h.jpg

    probably not this guy

    IMG_4528_zpsl6knzh0t.jpg

LOL, Poncho honey combs on the GTS and HQ rims on the Poncho.

Yep, am aware Poncho 2nd gen' GTO's did run Rostyles and honey combs as did Q - Z Holdens.

Pretty sure the GTO ones were 15" where as the Holden ones were 14".

  9. The 350 on my 186 ran like shit rebuilt it change jetting etc... Still ran like a turd. Put a 28/36 on it didn't change jetting and was 100% better

Never ever had a problem with any i've used on a six.

However, i've always had no end of issues when using 650's and up. Be it vac' sec's or mech' sec's.

(Edit to say, NO, i didn't put 650's on a red six lol.)

  10. The Holley 350 is okay at best.

But an aftermarket intake manifold and a 34 ADM Weber is probably the best carb/manifold swap for a Holden 186 or 202.

The only issue i've ever found with a Holley on a red / blue / black is the fact they need to be tuned properly.

the Weber is a bit more "useable" but think the Holley out performs it when giving it some.

  11. I wouldn't bother doing efi, doubt you'd notice any gain except maybe the 'cold starting'.

320/350 Holley would be better for a "daily" (ran them on many red motors)

Do you know what year the 186 is?

Before mid '67 all red motors had forged steel crank.
