,2wwwzqzHello gents. .
I'm looking for a little guidance.
My business is about to expand. As a result I am going to need to move a large item of machinary as well as associated equipment and supplies.
Its going to be in the realm of 3ton.
I'm open to options
Option 1
a small truck and put everything on. But this option means once I'm on site the truck can't leave. I will need to get a HT not a problem.
Option 2 preferred
A small truck with tail lift or crane the compressor on a trailer (2.5ton) and the rest of the equipment/supplies on the truck. Gives the ability to unload and the truck can then go off site to quote jobs and collect supplies while my workers stay on site.
Option 3
A good ute (ranger etc) with a 3.5 ton tow and a big trailer. Trailers in this realm are expensive and I most likely will not be able to carry every thing needed. Out of budget and will most likely be further down the track as a back up to main truck
I'm keen to gain a little more understanding on tare vs gvm etc and any small trucke to stay away from or are a good option.
Lots of trucks out there but only 2 ton tow or rated at 6 ton.
I have heard some one say most will carry more but get registered here under 6 ton to keep the car lisence option?
Could I get the tow bar upgraded to handle more load?
Currently have a AU falcon ute but will only tow 2.3 ton. Will have to do two trips to every job. And it will most likely kill it quickly it's old
My budget small as start up. But hoping that in 12months I will be able to spend a decent amount to upgrade to something later model and lower km.
I'm looking at car transport trucks curtain sliders and flat decks at the moment.

No you'd get no extra droop. They are a pneumatic ram essentially, when aired out they cant extend and are just a spring perch.
fortune did a little video about them at sema in 2015

Pretty sure that's the one that goes lives at one of the Pukekohe Market gardens. Has a couple of loads (sometimes with trailer) to Auckland 'errday.
To do that many ks it must have a LD28

Often cheap spray bomb paint will come off with prepsol and a rag or stiff brush.
Or paint stripper and a wirebrush are also very effective. Use a pressure washer also. May need a few applications and persistence.

I tried blitz alloy cleaner it didn’t seem to do much to my badly corroded motor
I’d def go with vapour blasting for small easily removed parts pretty sure it ads a protective coating so will look brand new and no need to clear coat (unless maybe it’s going to be left outside in the elements)
@Mr Vapour would know more about it all tho
Yep I do know something about it.
Every one different. Lots of different ways to skin a cat.
The advantage the vapour blasting has is it leaves everything with a uniform texture and finish. The finish is sealed as it is blasted so is easy to clean in the future also.
One thing to watch out for is that if there is a coating over item. Blasting will remove this and leave an exposed surface that by nature will oxidise. Simple regular cleaning or a wipe with some wd40 will stop this happening again

Spring compressors - not something I need often, but keen to own. Where's the sweet spot of cheap/not shit?
i have a set. have used lots with out failing.
But the issue i have with them is that they have a quite fine thread on them, as a result they are slow and can be very hard to use when you dont have much room to swing a ratchet. a courser thread would be faster to compress making them easier to use.
They are the double claw type but most of the time only one of the two is being used.
mine also have 1/2 inch fitting so duga duga duga

Wof is only 6 weeks old. Clean and tidy.
We brought it about 25Km ago. Was owned by an older couple prior to us. They only sold it as he had the big C and wanted a smaller new car for her after he was gone. .
We are only selling as we had twins and already have a 2.5yo and now need 3 car seats.

oh and its only done 171km, a mate has borrowed it at the moment as he is between jobs and always has a work ute.

BMW e30-36-46 all front steer racks.
Have a look but if you can use a e46 unit it will only have about 2.9 turns from lock to lock.
But they all interchange with each other so have a look.
