Been threatening to trade in the quad bike and 6X4 trailer for a little Kei truck with a tipper. Not sure if there is a thread on them.
Has anybody owned one before? Is it worth getting one on farm rego/on the road for the extra expense? I wouldn't mind taking one for a hoon on the streets to the tip but not if it is maxed out at 60kph. I'll get run over by a ranger/hilux owner.***pics***

Got one of those minicabs, hauls more than people expect. My records been ~1ton and it still went 100kph, brakes are tiny though.
Believe the only ones with speed limiters were real old models, anything 2000+ will be unrestricted.- 2

What a great page, Grandad in Tonga has one of these mini cabs, was wondering if you could help, the brakes are average and not creating good pressure. Have been told he need a new brake booster but have no idea where to get one, any help would be very much appreciate thanks
Parts are hard to find for them over here, i've imported most of my difficult parts from yahoo japan.
Oe number for the booster is MR370408, from what i can find over $1k new.
Could try something like this if 2nd hand is ok.

*disclamer - dont try this at home.
~1ton of rock and passengers, we were surprised they still moved and stopped fine.

Small updates.
Helped a mate pick up a whole shed from Silverdale. 2 up with a fair bit over the rated capacity it struggled on Albany hill.
Even with a run-up it slowed down from slightly north of 100 to 70kph by the top with the accelerator pinned to the floor. That one trip spawned the idea for its new personalised plate.
Imported some lowering springs from Yahoo Japan.
Rated drop was 35mm front, 50mm rear but it seemed to go a little lower once i replaced the rear bump stops.
Very happy with how it sits now.
Leaf springs seem to be uprated too as it drove much smoother on a 400kg dump run and still had some travel.

Thought they weren't allowed as most of them block the operation of the indicators

The NC 5 speed box doesn't have an internal drive gear.

Managed to find some factory tailgate chains on yahoo japan.
Picked up more ridiculous loads from Bunnings.
Had the week off work so grabbed my welder back off my dad and started making some things starting with a rear lumber rack.
Between my helmet intermittently turning off giving me arc eye and not touching the welder in 10 years my welds weren't pretty, flux core didnt help either.
Hit it with a grinder and rattle can, hasn't fallen apart yet
Finally decided to replace the old exhaust with a custom one. Seemed to make a difference replacing the cat converter with a reso, decent sized muffler and moving up from 30mm to 45mm pipe.
Very happy with how it came out, didn't want it too loud.- 7

Get the Suzuki dealer here to find out the price.
Same as Vitara, and might have genuine in stock, or ex Japan.
Plenty of aftermarket parts, Autolign, SAS, BNT can probably match with a sample.
At BNT we do the balljoint ~$90 rrp, usually camelot brand out of taiwan. Only listing for arms is for the 98-05 vitara.
Was a while ago but I'm sure i got a quote for balljoint rebuild from SAS around $100 ea- 2

Trucks been doing a fair bit of work over the last year.
Taking out a tree for a colleague.
Found a tonneau cover that fits very tidily.
Found an LSD on yahoo japan, 6" 2-way clutch type 6.666 ratio from a slightly earlier model.
Was good that I'd bought it as i discovered the pinion bearing was toast in the original diff while swapping the new one in.
Tiny axles on these trucks.
Picked up some more windows for the house.
And found out that 6m lengths of wood "fit" on it, will be building some front and rear ladder racks shortly.
Next mods on the to-do list.
-Make the flares out of sheet metal
-Fit the new wheels.
-Replace the AM radio
-Build some limiting straps for the tailgate
-Look into importing some lowering springs.- 13

We do these at BNT/Autolign, 10/15/20mm lift available.

I'll be honest i just guessed that part, no idea when its from, think it just means the headlight needs to be on while riding which i don't mind.

10 mins at Sylvia park today while they had people queuing out the door , remembered the 01 01 part for the vehicle type said nzta told me which form to fill out for re-registering an old scooter and they just put it through with the frame number.
Not bad considering mine is in this state at the moment to check over everything, headset desperately needed re-greasing.
Will try register the other complete one next week.- 5

Thats nonsense, and i know this because i slightly fabricated the frame number for my Dax when I filled out a MR2B and not a word was said.
And my DJ1 has its chassis number as SE50M, which is the model, rather than AF12xxxxxx
MR2B doesnt ask any info at all about previous registration does it? So as long as you arnt registering it as a 2012 scooter then it shouldnt even matter when or if it was last registered
Will try again tomorrow at another location, need to get at least one on the road so he can get to work

Mate tried to re-register one of the nifty 50's today at vtnz Botany, the person at the counter wouldn't let him go ahead with just the frame number on the MR2B form.
They said he needed to know the old rego plate number and wouldn't tell him what the plate number use to be by going off the frame number.
Going to try a different location during the week or next weekend.
I emailed nzta last week and it seems you should only need the frame number.
Follow up to this, mate went into vtnz sylvia park and ended up talking to the manager after being passed around 3 people.
He said that the frame number had never been registered in nz(tried multiple iterations as the last digit is unclear) so has to go through compliance which would need export documents from another country.
Funniest thing was he got offered a job because of his knowledge of the virm's lol
Have yet to try my frames number but not looking good.- 1

All I'd asked them was.
"Hi I have just bought an unregistered scooter from the mid 1980's, What steps do I need to take to get it registered/licenced? I have a frame number but it is too old to have a vin number. "- 1

Depends who's on the counter, looking back through the pages people have been told they need to go through compliance/inspection for re-reg whereas most just take a frame number, fill out the form and walk out with new plates.

If they haven't sent it do you just want me to grab it and chuck on nzc for you?
-
I work around the corner from them, can check next week for you.
They seemed short staffed when i visited couple weeks before lockdown. -
Might try my local vtnz. Best to just take in the frame number on a Saturday while they are busy?

Likewise, mate and I have a pair of nifty 50's to get on the road soon.
Have talked to a customer at work (who is a bike nut) and he said that everything has to go through inspection/compliance for re-reg nowadays.

Been tinkering with the truck over the last few months in between picking up renovation parts.
Scoured through the catalogs at work to find some replacement rear shocks.
Fronts off a mid 80's Chevy Blazer fit perfectly, just needed to slightly increase the diameter of the crush tube.
Mates invited me along to the oldschool drags where it got a best time of 21.60@59mph
Over the xmas break finally started wrapping the truck with the wrap i bought around xmas the year before
1.5x6m roll of 3M Gloss Black Rose almost finished the whole truck, just got 2 bed sides to finish, and the smaller border of the tray.
Will be using bedliner for the inside of the tray and back of the cab.
