  1. Well I didn't make it to Burt Munro but I have been riding the piss out of it. Last month while riding back from Lake Ferry I had a bad "ping" that I could not tune out with the manual timing advance. So when I got home I pulled the primary and set up a Deg. wheel to check timing. Glad I did because I found the primary chain master link was missing half of it and three of the chain rollers where broken off. Installed a new chain and reset the timing to 32 deg fully advanced. Well see next weekend if it made those noises go away.

  2. Dude tell me how this is any different to a electric car someone would buy for there kids. River bank is sweet as. Just try keep off public roads I guess. Also. This thing is rad

Well it was made from a nifty fifty honda so it is petrol powered, I just assumed the laws would be different. They have all those signs down by the river that say no recreational vehicles. I was hoping to take him on longer rides while I ride my bicycle but just didn't want to have issues.

Cool! I haven't had a problem with cops yet, I think I'm just used to the cops back in the US being complete pricks.

  3. If you have a park light switch you must have a park light and it must work. If you don't have a switch you don't need one. As for the tail ight does it have the correct writing on the lens? Sounds like a picky inspector to me.

  4. Any bike wof people on here?

Do clipons need a cert? And is a rear mudguard a requirement if you make a Cafe style seat?

Clip ons don't but you could fail because of cable routing or brake lines. As for the mud guard/bump stop it depends on the year. It must cover a amount of the tire that will vary depending on year. Also it could fail because of how it is mounted. I have several guy with custom bikes who come by the shop and get their WOF.

  5. Really tempted to throw an extra 2 degrees in there...

Not sure how it'll sit with the 6" over forks, I want the bottom rails to sit fairly square with the pavement

You will want it to sit with the lower raile going upward in the front by about 1 to 2 inches. when you are not sitting on it. If ont they tend to smash the front of the frame into the pavement when going into petrol stations. I have made that mistake before.

  6. Oh really !! That's something I'm gonna need in a few days ! Your headlight and taillight have polished up well and are all mounted up ! Will need to swap them out for compliance tho as they have no markings on the lenses

That is the same thing I have to do to my Matchless. They got me on the fact my light was made to a later spec then the year of my bike. So to keep it I would have to add turn indicators to it.

  7. I was able to repair the fork tube so that was good but the motor was smoking to bad to pass. I was unable to find the correct piston rings so I found som for the correct bore size and remachined the pistons to hold them. I also machined the valve guides to run seals.

I just see time ticking away and I plan on riding to the Burt Munro Challenge in Nov. Riding down the South Island by myself. That makes me really want to finish this soon so I have time to work out any bugs before I leave.
