  1. Hi everyone, I thought I would post my car which I found in Auckland in 1997. After my 1986 VK 202 was stolen complete with the new Simon's I was looking for a replacement and happened across the 1984 Police Pursuit car. The basic specifications were impressive; SL with Factory fitted air conditioning. V7X engine (engine No. prefixed VG instead of the normal VT). Included; big valve heads, blue printed Quadrajet and HEI distributor, cold air induction, Group A manifold. 240 hp 177 kw at the engine). Also this engine was an early 304. M21: 4 speed (close ratio gearbox) first gear 2.54:1 returned 80 kph @5500 rpm. Large Salisbury Limited Slip 3.08:1 Diff. FE2 suspension with larger 235 tyres. No power steering. In standard trim this car would top 200 kph (125 mph). The car was effectively a Brock SS without the badging and some consider it to be the Grand Daddy to the SS. As you can tell from the photo, the car was eventually raced and modified accordingly and obtained a top speed at Pukekohe raceway of 240 kph (150 mph) on the back straight. It outrun a 1970 Shelby Mustang 429 (big block) in a straight line at the Taupo race track, beat a 428 (big block) Shelby Mustang Cobra Jet at the Meremere Dragway (beating it by half a second)! The car is currently undergoing it's second major re-build as a 355. As a 308 bored 40 thou over (310 ci) it achieved 320 kw's (428 hp) at the rear wheels. The old girl turned 30 on 20 December 2014 and with this car in the garage for 17 years it's simply been "HSV I don't want one".
