  1. Have decided that i will respray the car, because it will protect the car, and raise the sale price. (hope i dont regret it!!)

i have started by stripping the car down, its quite dirty inside, things like receipts and paper, there is also a lot of hay in there, its like the car was stored in a barn for years or something ( wouldn't be surprised because of how solid it is and the low ks.

  2. Tim yupp that's the one, but yes it was sitting for two years went to view it and it fired right up, it runs amazing, the guy spent a lot of money on it, and aww yeah he is nice, how is he going? And Connor nah but that pi on trade me looks super tidy

  3. Yes thats true but at the end of day your Saying the tr6 engine is the best, and the only difference from the early saloon pi is the cam and different callibrated metering unit, the tr6 still uses the bigger valves the black top metering unit and the single balance pipes. But i guess it Dosent matter what gear you have cause lucas pi rules.

  4. Well I did some research and i found my engine to be the 132hp engine. There is two type of saloon pi systems there is the early one that has 132hp it has the black top metering unit a hotter cam with a longer duration and bigger valves, it also has single balance pipes along the throttle bodies, where as the later pi 124hp engine (late 73<>75) has double balance pipes, apparently that's usless, but it has a less complicated throttle linkage set up, it has a milder cam and smaller valves, and it has the green top metering unit, its supost to be better for emissions. I talked to a triumph guy and his opinion was that the early setup was better because of the hotter cam.

  5. Hey i have some Quistions about thse systems,

First is about the metering unit, i know there is a green top and a black top, what is the difference? i heard that the green top engine has a milder cam campared to the black top, and that the metering units are not interchangable with both engines, i have just purchased i 1973 triumph 2500 pi with the black top metering unit i was just wondering if it is the correct one for my engine, my engine number is MG58004E, Are those numbers the early or later engine? i just want to know if im running the wrong metering unit or if i do have the 132hp engine.

Also what are good tips for owning a pi, what are common problems?

  6. I have had this wagon for some time now. its a cool unique little car. its super solid no rust holes just surface, it runs and drives awesome and it has 70,000 genuine kms. I think its about time i give it a respray and get it all road worthy. once that is done i might keep it  and have it as a sweet cruiser or sell it then purchase a triumph 2500 pi. i have wanted a pi for sometime now.
