I'll double check exhaust tonight just to make sure. Got new muffler 2 weeks ago with new mounts so I don't think it will be the issue

Got home, popped the bonnet. Got the misses to rev to 4K then back off. Can hear it as the revs decrease. I don't think it's coming from the engine as it was only a faint noise from the engine bay compared to when in car. I'm thinking MOF is right with the clutch bearing clearance as that was my first thought also

So tonight i was taking my 2 girls out for a nice romatic drive to see some city lights from devonport, and the esky started to make a strange noise / vibration at 3200rpm or if i went from 80kmph-90kmph it would pipe up and do it before going away. Also noticed it when changing gears. Almost like when ever i changed down from 4th to 3rd and it would hit the 3200 mark it would squeele. But also when driving over the bridge at 80-85km it would start to do it before buggering off..
Really annoying noise but kinda strange that it only happens at that rpm?
Any ideas on what it could be will be people of the oldschool??

Cheers boys. Hack over

#threadhack My 76 mk2 doesn't have belts in the back. If I take a full car load of people and get pulled over, can I get fined??

ok i feel csl may be the way to go as everyone is saying murray is a bit of a twat.. but who can blame the guy when he has a market. just want them to get a good looking over and replace whats needed without getting raped in the wallet. gonna then give them to the man who built my beast so he can set them up to match the 4banger.
Cheers for all the help guys!

Everyone seems to like Murray. Is he gonna charge me an arm and a leg for some new seals or is he quite reasonable??
Who's csl?? Anyone else got some experience with them??

Sooo just brought some twin 40 dellertos for the esky and was wondering if there's s specialist in Auckland that can give them a look over as they were sitting on the guys shelf for 6 years when I brought them. They look in good condition and flaps open and close fine, but wouldn't mind getting them properly inspected before I try strap them on..

Went for a 3 core muffler. We did a test with a Coby but it was waaaaay to bwarrrrrrrrrrpy. It's a lot quieter which is kinda nice as I can now hear myself think now which is good? This also means I can't ignore the misses when she's having a yarn about something I've done.. /Insert unsure face here

Well my bake bean can on my esky has shat itself.. Lasted a good 2 years from some old chap out in penrose that chucked it on there a few penny's. So I'm looking for something that's gonna gonna sound sweet coming out of the worked 1.6 banger.. Every other man and his dog goes for a coby on a esky but what are my other options? 4-1 extractors into 2inc pipe to bake bean can and out the end...
-
i think the downdrafts would look pretty sweet, but I think the easier option will be to sell and find some sideys...

i dont mean 2l pinto i mean 2l xflow.
Where would i get this manifold made? (auckland area?) i already have a standard sidedraft manifold. they could possibly just make something bolt onto that?
cheers for all the help so far

Would the 2L inlet mani fit onto a ported 1.6 head? as theres a mani on palmside for $500..
-
get the biggest lift you can. Got a reground rally cam in my xflow, lumpy as anything, stalls at traffic lights as old carb cant keep up.... but goes off like a frog in a sock (thats all that matters right?)
Go for bigger valves in the head since your gonna be running twin 40s.. might as well do it right the first time!

In my haste the other morning i decided to buy twin idf's for my kent without doing research and found they were downdrafts not sides..
Is it possible to use them as sidedrafts instead of downs as i already have a manifold. Or does anyone know where to get a twin downdraft manifold that wont cost me both my arms and one of my balls?

Not the one behind the mcdonalds tho, theres a small angry man there
that bloody small angry man pinged me for the other day for rust on the midis new golf....

i got that exact one for my mk2 escort when the original moto conked out. worked mint until the 1.3 lost its nuts. had to get re-curved when it was fitting to the worked 1.6 4banger. been going sweet for over a year now though

here is the progress. have made this the 3 day challenge as it will be my only chance to do it before xmas.
Photos from day Friday lunchtime until 6pm today.
Took the 1.3 banger out, then all the rest of the bits.
Brother helped me so he sorted out the wires and what not and i took bits and bobs off the 1.3 that we needed.
Started to tear into the paint work with the angle grinder and some pads. went through 5 of them before we turned to the wire brush head.
By friday night I had semi stripped the paint
Saturday morning got staright back into it and finished off the stripping. By 1pm i was hand sanding the last bits.I didnt get every single piece of paint, just what I could reach with grinder. then just hand sanded back the other bits,
So as of right now the engine bay is all painted. It actually looks alright. Very happy so far. Picture i put up is only the primer, will post more tomorrow night once we are done.. hopefully!

Hey guys. So got my 1.6 back from the shop last week so its time to take out the slug that is the 1.3.
At the same time im wanting to strip back the engine bay.. any tips on the best way to do this?
I was just gonna spray a bit of Dads Paint Stripper around and give it a good going over with some
strippng pads then give a good paint on a nice sunny day.. Theres no rust or anything in the engine bay,
so should hopefully be pretty stright forward..
Cheers
Is there a Dellerto carb specialist Auckland

Ended up going to csl $220 each carb to be pulled apart, cleaned up, resealed, new needles and jetted. Thought that was pretty reasonable?
