Day One, 21st October, 2014:
Removed plugs and fired CRC down the bores, removed the pushrods and rockers, removed the intake and exhaust manifolds, removed the water pump, removed the oil filter, removed the vacuum system(?). Drained the oil, and got 4l of water out, 1l of oil and quite a bit of sludge
Also, discovered the #1 cylinder was choc full with water
^Build Loggy enough for you? ^

Ill set that deal, and if you object, let me know. i mean, in total you'll all probably just be chipping in like 10 cents each that night
-
i'm 70% sure it'll run again. how about i set a challenge? if i get it running, you guys owe me fish n chips and a beer, but if it never runs again, i pay for chch's monthly meet?
i just like a challenge- 2

From what i can see, its been ported n' polished (the intake ports are tapered and smooth, well smooth considering its been in the elements for 6 years ). So, diameters:
Exhaust:
Valve: 30.70mm
Port: 27.50mm
Intake:
valve: 38.00mm
Port (Entrance): 33.50mm
Port (Main Pipe): 26.50mm
Bore: 80.5mm
(All measurements are +- 1.5mm)

also, did some research on my particular engine, it came out of a mk-2 rally car, it was sold to make way for a 2l pinto. other than that, thats all ive dug up so far
-
Alright, update. i remove the plugs and discovered the no-1 cylinder to be full of water (it actually squirted water when i removed the plug). the rest were dry so i sprayed WD40 in them. now in the process of removing the Head so i can clear the water out
-
Ill do that, i like that idea thanks joe
-
we bought it for $150, just didnt have room inside for it. she's full of clean(ish) oil with no signs of water tho, so im optimistic

Well, i cant turn the flywheel...
-
And shes full of oil and the oils pretty clean too, no signs of water which is surprising after sitting outside for 6 years with an open intake manifold
-
Hahaha no i just need fenders, panels and bumpers (and maybe a few hemp sacks soaked in epoxy resin over tube frames for seats )
PS if anyone has any plans for mk-1 escorts, let me know
-
Does anyone think its worth putting in the projects section to keep you updated?
