It'll run... Eventualy...
-
i still got one to got tho felixx
-
so, this is how i started getting the pistons out... and it worked! (after a little persuasion)
-
I'll take pics tomorrow after work
-
its on 80.5 but its already been sleeved, those sleeves are screwed
-
anyone feel like donating towards re-sleeving this thing...
-
That it did, which makes my life eaiser
-
and i wont fit eh 1.3 pistons is, as it is i have to bore the cylinders out to get rid of the rust pits
-
either a 244k rally cam or a 3/4 race cam, 2/3 wont really be much use on gravel i don't think
-
Anyway, progress as of yesterday: Engine is fully stripped now apart from the block plugs, the pistons (which need some, shall we say, 'persuasion' *grins evilly and cackles maniacally), and the valves. bores are soaking in a 50/50 mix of diesel/crc to loosen the rust and, consequently, free the pistons The #1 cylinder, which had a valve open evidently The near-new timing-chain Big-Ends and Crank Bearings SLUDGE GALORE (Weighed it all, came in at approx 2 kg of sludge, not all of is shown here tho)
-
well felix, looks like you and the chch lot WILL owe me fish n chips with coke after all ;)
-
Gunna stick a sidedraft on it with two Weber 45 DCOE's or two Weber 42 DCOE's, stick a 3/4 race cam or a 244k rally cam in it, port and polish the crud out of it, oversize the pistons, stick a 1.3 head on it, and stick it in a custom-built rally car (although, i might stick it in my '94 laser wagon to run it in first so look out chch)

Hahahaha glad to hear it if you have any tips or ideas please share them You might also find the book i found helpful if you're rebuilding a crossflow (see link above) (I'm only 18 and still kinda guessing/googling/asking about this kinda thing ae )
-
found this if anyone is interested. its all about rebuilding and tuning kent crossflows https://www.dropbox.com/s/cvtdf7q59chez2a/Ford-s-Kent-Crossflow-Engine.pdf?dl=0

ok... ill try it on one cylinder first...
-
not sure if i should take you seriously, or if you just want me to ruin my block so u get free food...
-
and the only pitted bore would be #1 cylinder
-
Cranks already out. my plan of attack is 50/50 diesel/crc and fill the bores from the bottom, leave for a couple of day (currently only been 1-2). flip over and fill the tops with the same mixture then leave for similar period of time. after that, smash them out with a block and hammer (might be able to get something for pistons u see )
-
Im doing exactly that. except using a piece of wood between said hammer and said piston
-
has anyone got an engine stand i can borrow? or at least some RHS steel or pipe so i can make one?
-
ohhh thats a good idea. ill have to try that
-
grease gun and grease for? (your link doesn't appear to be showing)
-
filled the bores with half a can of crc/diesel mix. now just to wait for a week or two
-
What have you got??? and how much do you want for them??? (sorry, you just made me a little excited there...)
-
all stripped out now, pics to come soon
