  1. spent the weekend painting the fork covers, rear shocks and tank! tank job didnt come out as good as i wanted, got way too keen painting at 10:30 at night and didnt dry fully the next morning. wiping down the tank some of the fibres stuck to the paint... got most of it off with thinners. will give her a sand down and a respray once i can be fucked.

  2. Thanks man, yeah its a late 80s model, has no plates or anything so just going off the graphics compared to photos ive seen.

you definitely should! would be grouse to see more bikes. they were well received by the crowd!

  3. lil bit of progress, mounted factory tail light using the old seat bracket and the trusty makita 12v.

    93sFYzn.jpg?1

unsure if i wanna use the factory indicators as well, they are way to massive. cannot find any aftermarket, single wire indicators anywhere. does anyone have a set of nice looking single wire ones? i have a set of chinese LED ones but they are 2 wired, if i use both indicator connectors to the loom they work. is there anyway i could somehow add an extra set of connectors to the loom? haha. stoopid 6v motorcycles.

hopefully gonna chuck some new tyres on in the next week or two!

  4. Are you ever allowed to keep the old plate if ya still got it? Bike I just got has a mint as black plate, would be a real shame to get rid of it

there was a thread somewhere that described how to do this. there is a lady who you email with photos of the plate(s) to make sure they are in good condition and the licence number can be clearly seen etc. and you are good to go. trawl through here to some older re-vinning threads i know it's been posted in one i made a couple of months back.

  5. along with my shitty CG110 ive been procrastinating with forever, i could not resist this thing's charm at Big Al's motorcycle wreckers in palmy

    hgn7k9C.jpg?1

was a recovered stolen bike from somewhere around levin, hence the ignition has been pried away at with a flathead. cannot fault it though, rides like an absolute dream. and everything works!

am putting it off re-vinning until i can source moar funds and once i get my licence.

even made it to Old School Palmy meet last night!

im not the only one with one of these bad boys on OS and have been loving everyone's builds.

    8vV5LkD.jpg?1

got rid of a whole bunch of gay shit off the rear end. mudguard will go back on for wof spec.

slapped on skateboard seat base for a giggle, and it looks rad. also bought some low rise bars from the modern motorcyle company. getting seat covered and wider tyres will probs be my next investments. also waiting for good friend Mitch to get to cashies status at his new job to fab me up an expansion chamber.

long term i would like to remove dash and relocate ignition, thankfully helmet covers it in the photo haha.

want it looking something like this

    CxxixKs.jpg

has anyone seen this? saw it on instagram and buzzed at the NZ plate.

hopefully have more updates soon! would love to know what you guys think and what i should do to it  :)

  6. cos i was an OS grom i posted my build in wrong thread... admin can delete old post.

so i have had this for a couple of months and the terrible task of rewiring everything and replacing a kickstart spring have left me struggling for motivation. mostly because i lack knowledge and decent tools to remove crankcase screws.

today i was far too bored and decided to take off the guards and remove the airbox shit. i like it!

    KX4wpME.jpg?2

    lA7fvkW.jpg?2

am probably gonna scrap battery and run straight off of the flywheel/engine, so i can keep the clean look cos battery sits in the airbox assembly. how do i do this? already starts without a battery, just have no electrics other than that.

also, can someone tell me what this is? thought it was a regulator type thing but it doesnt look like a conventional onelZK52gx.jpg?2

really wanna get this thing on the road (legally)!

your help would be greatly appreciated!

  7. yeah man still goin! in the process of whipping up a new seat for it at the moment. just have more wiring to do and a kickstart spring to replace. how do they go in the buckets? yeah pretty gutted mine wasnt on hold, would've made it all a lot easier

  8. fuck all progress cos of uni and exam shit...

gave the front drum a good clean out today. brakes dont retract tho and its fucking me off. dont think its to do with the arm or inside the drum, errthing still has spring inside. the shoes push out unevenly but doubt that has anything to do with the brake lever not retracting.

anyone have a clue? time for new cable?

and has anyone had experience replacing a kickstart spring? wondering how hard it is.

  9. haha... we lit that fucker on fire multiple times... but aite i will give it a good clean.

    this is the tab

    G3rJiY7.jpg?2

as you can see its fucked and when you put it on it ust keeps spinning around. and i have no choke cable haha. any kind of linear cable should work though right? I am familiar with the FR50 ones, my mate has one. they look a lot different but idk what the mount/hole looks like on them.

  10. So I'm just gonna resurrect this from the archives. this speed demon has been in hiding for the past year or so, exchanging owners like a taiwanese housemaid.
    5aKTo6t.png?1
Mitch swapped this thing for an escort with our mate sonny, who did nothing with it. after some haggling i managed to score it for $60 and a dolphin catcher of some shitty import beer from the exotic section in countdown.
After a few hours of cleaning out the tank and a good carb clean, we got her running.

it runs like a champ sometimes, but most days it is a fucking faggot and refuses to start. only way to get her firing is pouring some fuel down the spark plug hole and manually choking it (finger in the carb) for what seems like hours. has no choke cos the little tab on the handlebar snapped, and a replacement is way too expensive for what it is.

Does anyone have any tricks on how to get it to start properly? the fuel tank is still pretty dirty, but the more i clean it the more mess i make and i dont have the time or patience to sit there for a whole day, or even longer, rattling stones through it. looking at the fuel filter, there's not a lot of shit in it. it has the tendency to splutter but if you wiggle the fuel line it squirts more into the carb and away it goes. ive cleaned out the hoses countless times and there's nothing blocking them.

Are my jets whack? airflow on the piss? i am puzzled. when it runs it hauls ass. the fact that this is registered restores my faith in this country's transport agency.

We are in the process of forming a small gang in p norf, shall be a good time. name yet to be agreed on.

in terms of looks, am probs gonna reupholster the seat in an off-white to match the plastics. any other suggestions?

will update with more shenanigans and breakthroughs on mechanical issues!

  11. That sounds extremely easy. Red Baron's in Wellington eh? Have a few links with AFC motorcycles here (Palmy), doubt they have an inspector on speed dial though. will definitely have a look into it tho.

what was the inspection/wof like? very strict? i have some super dumb shit like my brake levers dont come back fully and the throttle sticks on in places. i have aftermarket drag bars on it, hopefully they just think it looks cool and dont have a wang over it.

what bike do you have? i hope these inspector dudes have actually ridden a bike without discs and fucking, grip warmers, or whatever it is kids these days have on their CBR's.

  12. Slapped on the new tail light, i know its huge and 1970s as fuck, but it was pretty cheap ($25NZD) for a genuine NOS Honda part. 5 dorra taiwanese boat-mail was a letdown though.

    AeJtb8i.jpg?2

gonna look at something small and LED in the distant future. getting it back on the road is a bigger priority.

Someone should be a mega ultra good cunt and help me wire this thing up. looking at the wiring diagram almost brings me to tears.

  13. ignition arrived today, along with a fuel cap that doesn't leak. few more jobs ticked off the list.

    zTWStyN.jpg?2

Need to clean out the drums, fit new taillight and kickstart shaft/spring when they arrive and wire everything up then i should be sweet to go.

  14. nice, nice. how much more strict is the wof check? are they concerned with the internals of the motor? as its old, there's heaps of dumb little shit i feel they could have a yard sale with. the throttle sticks on a bit if you don't twist it back, stuff like that. i think carjam told me it was first registered late 70's, early 80's so I'm sweet there. wasn't reported stolen either.

Where do you find justices of the peace? they still hang around the courts or citizens advice bureau?

  15. Very interesting. so what's a good way of proving you own the motorbike? bought it through facebook, have no trademe auction or anything legit. will screen caps of our convo do it? bank statement of transferring the cash?

so once you get this document all signed and shit you take that in when you go for wof and rego?

shit makes more sense now. a lot more legal shit involved than i imagined.

  16. I've got a Honda CG110 project //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/45213-honda-cg110/

Coming along real nice, just have to wire everything up to get lights etc.

Rego died in 2007, still with black plates. I know fuck all about re-registering a motorbike and putting it back on the road. surely having its original plates and rego card should make the process a bit easier.

I've read a little bit on the NZTA website that it goes through a COF/inspection type carry-on, then you pay for rego on top and you're away laughing. surely there's more to it. what do they look for in the inspection? who's done it before? how much does it cost for the inspection? don't want to rock up there not knowing a thing.

    Cheers
