  1. Bit of a full garage atm building a cage in this fd3s Managed to modify the intercooler with a 2.5" inlet and 3" outlet
  2. More welding then it's done!
  3. Next mission. The dump pipe! Basically done a 3" dump with 2.5" wastegate pipe plumbing back Not a massive fan of external wastegates Put a separate flex on the Wastegate side and then I'll put a 3" flex after the first flange (using nz made v band flanges under car)
  4. Hey ajg193 nah it doesn't. I always planned to put a brace back to the block but haven't got around to it at this stage. I'm not really worried about the bolts more the fact the turbo manifold might Crack but being such a thick wall I guess I thought I'd leave it until something happens.
  5. The basic run down on the fab of the manifold was the elbow and stub was arc welded with ss rod inner and outer to the main plate then that was machined flat. Then rest of manifold was welded. The two lower elbows turn inwards towards each other to form a collector which a piece of 75mm pipe was welded on top. Then that was welded to the turbo plate which was then machined flat (turbo is single scroll) then a elbow welded prior to the turbo for the Wastegate
  6. Time now for the exhaust manifold! First off I got the plates cut from 16mm thick 304 stainless steel. Then ordered some s40 bends and some pipe Reason I went steam pipe stainless instead of mild steel was the fact rotarys run hot. They also create a lot of moister and a mild steel manifold wouldn't last. I've experienced it. The cost initially is more but in the long run it pays off So I started playing round and ended up with this. Something a bit different and it's probably not the best performance wise or functional but I like it! Before you ask yes it clears the bonnet
  7. Finshed the belt drive setup. Had to order a long Gilmer belt and I used part of the old tensioner and made it work on the new bracket.
  8. Decided to bang up a new bash / bumper support bar in the front end since the old one just un bolted I made a new one out of some pipe I had laying around. Also mounted the intercooler off this on a step angle.
  9. Made up new brake lines for the front end And a look at the new bracket to mount the altinator and power steering pump
  10. In you go! Pretty stoked at this point. As now it felt like I could see the light at the end of the tunnel
  11. Oh and I forgot while the motor was on the stand I made a side mount power steering pump and altinator bracket. Also rotated the water pump Gilmer pulley and machined up a keyway so it now fits the power steering pump (since I'll be running electric water pump) Gearbox on!
  12. I'm thinking it's about time this motor went in its home for good..... We'll for awhile at least (it is a rotary after all! ) haha
  13. Layer some glass over the top before it gets some bog! Plan is to glass it. Then grind it back then give it a skim of bog
  14. Like a factory one! Sort of haha
  15. Got myself a s5 bonnet! For free! It had a badly damaged center vent. I wanted to run the s5 because there alloy. So I brought a 40$ vent off trade me and started making a cheap light bonnet! Cut a big hole then glued the vent down with this custom as clamping setup
  16. Brought the rx a ecu. Went for the microtech because there cheap. And I ran one on my old fc and had no issues. Also got some coils and relays
  17. Had a weekend mission putting some interior back in. Feels more like a car now! Note.... notching dash around cage was way harder to get right than I expected lol.
  18. Started sorting out the brake department this week. Really wanted to go big on the brakes but couldn't really afford it at the moment. So I just brought some semi decent pads and heat treated slotted rotors for the front and back. Also gave the calipers some green goodness
  19. Got some paint layer down on the rear hatch and s5 front bumper! Also pushed it outside into the sun! Love the s5 front bar over the s4 one. Plus the previous owner hacked up the old bumper to show off the awesome front mount lol so had to replace it
  20. Time to install the bc golds and the supernow toe arms and camber arm Was a easy job to install! Noticed how badly split one of the universals on the half shafts were so I've ordered 4 new ones so I'll remove them all and re pack them
  21. So I started putting stuff back in. Pretty sweet feeling! Got a new brake master and clutch master. Had issues getting the brake master in nz so I ended up buying one from the states..only issue being for left hook. It's ok though because I was going to run new front brake lines anyway due to the tubs Also brought a Gilmer belt drive kit!
  22. Such a awesome car mate I love these old z ! That blue one is wicked as well!
