Been meaning to come to one of these for ages now so i'll bring te chevette if my wheels arrive from japan in time
-
When is this months meet?
-
Any idea what shocks to use? im a total newb when it comes to suspension. Have no idea what to do with the bump stops either
Thanks eddy, yeah the interior is mint, its got recaro fishnets in the front with the back seats recovered to match, new carpet, mint door cards and dash.
-
I actually want to lower it more! what i meant to say is that i like how low the back is but it looks too raised in the front, needs more slam haha. any suggestions how to get the front lower? from what i know its got gemini lowering springs in it all round.
-
Cheers man, yeah i'm not doing any more work to the motor as it is it runs freaking sweet, waaay quicker than my last chevette with the standard 1256 in it. just gunna leave it in there haha. I'll have to give him a call!

At this stage I want to get the guards rolled,
put the bumpers back on ( the holes have been welded over before it was painted so im guessing i just have to redrill the holes somehow?),
fix the handbrake as it rolls downhill even when its fully pulled up (it still feels tight tho so no idea whats going on?)
and apparently the jets on the carb are too big so i need to change that., anyone know where i can get that done?. i took it into bygone autos on the shore and they just tuned it so it wasnt running rich or anything. still smells like it though ahha
i think the starter motor may be stuffed as it makes funny noises when it turns over before firing up, hard to explain. allthough looking through all the receipts i have for the car it seems it was recond not too long ago.

From the top off my head heres the things that have been done to it so far:
Rebuilt worked motor, don't know exact specs but larger pistons and a fast cam.
Webber 45 sidedraft carb,
Extractors,
New carpets and headlining (sags though so i need to fix that), redone door cards and dash, mountney steering wheel i dont fancy that much
Nice sounds with the amps hidden under a fake boot panel with the sub mounted flush (will have to take some pics so you know what i mean)
What i think are gemini lowering springs (judging by how the back is quite a bit lower than the front, i want to fix this somehow so if you have any suggestions let me know in the discussion thread at the bottom(
Recond gbox and new clutch, lightened flywheel,
All the rust taken out and resprayed to be close to the original goldish bronze whatever color they came out in
Pretty big exhaust that goes straight through with 2 cobys, one small, one bigger.
That's all i can think of for now, heres the discussion thread

Hey guys feel free to talk shit here/give me advice. I have lots of questions so shout out if you know anything about these gr8 cars haha
-
Hey everyone this is my 2nd chevette,
I've had it since roughly the start of the year. I bought it of the guy that had it as a sort of unfinished project.
anyways ive got it all back on the road now and have sold my wheels and bought some ssr mk1s from japan for it.
they should be here in a couple of weeks now
i thought since ive got it sitting on blocks in the garage it would be a good time to get some stuff done/finished on it.
heres a crappy picture and a picture of the wheels i got for it to replace the xxrs it came on.

I used this Ali Brite alluminium cleaner to clean it all off and its been pretty good, really strong stuff haha

Yeah there's the metal polish and there the alloy polish they make two different types, I have the metal polish and it says it's pretty much for everything but alloy. Anyone know what type of paint to use? I saw that post about polishing wheels ages ago and tried to find it before posting this thread but no luck.
P.s feet are up next for polishing, pics to come lol
-
Sweet, I have some autosol metal polish but It's not the one specifically for alloy, do you know if it makes much difference? Tried putting some on and it didn't do too much. As for painting the wheels do you know what paint to use etc? Cheers man

Hey everyone
This is the first thread I've created on old school and I thought I'd start it of asking for some advice ( I'll also be making a build up thread for my chevette at some stage and probably my gf's 1st gen civic), I bought these wheels last week of one of the guys on here for my girlfriends honda civic and they were pretty dirty, so we started cleaning them up and you can see from the pics how far I've gotten.
I'm not really sure what I should do from here to get them looking mint and I'm also still trying to decide whether to keep them all silver or to paint the insides black like some of them came from the factory.
Here's some before and after pics of how they were, to how they are now, lemme know what you guys think
