  1. once again i have acquired another car that is not an austin... (regret that username) BUT never the less this is my new project was a freebee off my mate who is moving to the uk and for some odd reason he though i would like it.... and i think he thinks im the only person who will put work into it. so first things first is WOF and i need >window wipers >lift side steering arm boot ( im think its that rubber thing) >reverse lights (and according to VTNZ its too low but who said i had to go there for wof...) hopefully can get around to it all this weekend, the only thing i dont want to do it the reverse lights because i am terrible with trouble shooting electrical problems so if anyone has any tips for that it would be much appreciated. Plans for this beast includes fixing the front bumper, paint both bumpers gun metal grey, then primer the body because surprisingly its pretty straight and virtually rust free. not planning on spending heaps of money on this so thats why its only getting primer. and also sounds, needs sounds. there are some slight mechanical issues that need sorting too, there is a wicked tap in the engine (well i think its the engine, dad thinks its something else) and it leaks autotrans fluid and diff fluid so ill have to take a look at that too.. anyway thanks guys, update probably after the weekend if i get wof!! >discussion<
  2. sad to say im getting rid of the ute, taking offers. sorry guys, but there is a new project on the way, this one has just lost me. discuss here
  3. i tried buying the 4x4 guards off the dude with the blue one and he wanted $200 for them, so i doubt he would appreciate the lowball. but in anycase ie got most of the parts now.
  4. Ok so i had a couple of days off this week so was able to get a little bit done. jamie took me to see a mate of his and i was able to score heaps of parts that i really needed for the ute. got a bonnet, 4x4 guards, back window(with sliding window), bonnet latch, lights and light buckets as well as a grill. also managed to pull the front bar off the car so i could work on straightening the wheel-well and although it was my first time panel beating and it tool a bit longer, i think it turned out pretty good, well its getting there. and i put one the the guards on the good side of the car and they seem to look alright but i might end up running 15's just to fill up all that space. discuss here
  5. cheers guy that helps heaps!!! i never knew so much about the different models. i am looking for pretty much everything infront of the windscreen, so doors are not the worry, but from what i understand now there will be a few different ones that will fit so thats a plus!! i havnt thought about doing the round lights, didnt know i was an option if im honest... ps. your wellside look mean!
  6. is it the same with just the RN46? or are there others?
  7. does anyone know if parts from other model hilux's are compatible ? mines a RN45 and im finding it hard finding parts specific to that model.. im talking things like guards bonnet grill ect
  8. sure thing and thanks for the positive feedback everyone
  9. looked at the one in pick apart, should be able to grab the front bar aircon radiator bonnet latch and headlight components off it, the guards arnt flash and im wanting 4x4 ones anyway, but should be able to get a few things.
  10. cheers guys, im stoked with how its coming along. hahah yeah its a jap import and they all came stock with aircon, still worked and everything too. going on a parts mission today. *fingers crossed*
  11. So i got the ute from the tow company today and as soon as i got it home i tore it apart to see the real damage, and luckily enough for me there is no chassis damage!! and the engine itself seem fine too all suspension and steering components are all still in tacked and working fine managed to straighten abit of the wheel-well out with a fence strainer and a tree... worked quite well both radiators are fucked so they camp out too SO, all in all it not as bad as first thought before during after and almost all the shit i need to replace and the best part is the doctor said i can have tomorrow off, and with friday saturday being my usual weekend, i have three more days to get stuck in!! discuss here
  12. Might not have to wreck the white one, its salvageable after all. No chassis damage so just need body panels
  13. yeah they will have to pay out, but they dont have insurance either so its going have to be out of their pocket, so it might be harder to get out of them too
  14. i think i need a new challenge, might make something different. and thanks for the support guys, ill see how bad the damage is before i talk too soon, i wish it was salvageable but im not going to hold my breath
  15. yeah im all sweet, gonna go get the car back tomorrow and rip the stereo out and take the rims off, not much else i can get, then just sell the rims and tires and sell the car to the wreckers i think, just get what i can for it.
  16. cheers guys, im fine, and yeah it has just made the post nats depression a little worse
  17. it is very sad to announce that this will probably be the end of this build tread as i sadly crashed the ute today on the way home from work. the car is a right off. so i don't think there be anymore to build on. discuss here
