  1. License arrived in the mail today, so that's sorted, holding off on wof until I can afford rego. Found out back in the day I didnt put reg on hold until it was almost a yr out of date so have to back pay a yrs worth as well as put some on when I get around to do it. So I'm trying to resist getting a wof until funds allow me to pay for reg. In any case yesterday I did as was suggested aaages ago and painted the tank mount and seat mount the same colour in order to "blend it in"... looks decent. Now we wait... (might go for some sneaky rides just to calm my itch for it)
  2. Indicators finally arrived last week so fucked around with the mess under the seat and got them all working. Also brought some lame ass reflectors so as far as I'm aware I should be ready for a wof! Also went through my old phone and found a photo of the bike when I first go it, and am pretty happy with what I've done Hopefully sort warrant and license by next weekend and I'll be hitting the road. Before After
  3. Madden voyage went well, sorted out the ideal and now revs out in all gears wish I could take it for a longer ride than just around the block but with no reg, no wof, no indicators and no motorbike license I'm not keen on taking it on main roads just yet.. will sort the above as soon as possible so I can take it for a real ride! Sounds beautiful too!
  4. Repainted the other side cover today ( no orange peel this time "woo" ) Muffler turned up this week so rewrapped the exhaust and fitted it, had to shoot out to repco and buy and overpriced exhaust clamp to get it done. Finished it and i am stoked, going to fire it up tomorrow and see how it sounds, amped! Will hopefully do some "fine tuning" and take it for a blat aswell. (Still waiting for indicators, funny how exhaust turned up first even tho it was ordered more than a week after)
  5. I couldn't help myself.. One of the side covers ended up with some shity orange peel finish so will have to buy more paint and repaint it, but fuck am I happy with the tank!
  6. Managed to get some colour down this weekend, pretty stoked with it. it's pretty much the exact colour I had in mind but the photos dont really do it justice. Had just enough paint to do the side covers too so should look mint once its dry and back on the bike Edit: also ordered an exhaust so hopefully that will be here during the week so I can mock that up.
  7. I agree I never wanted a black tank and the side covers I'm going to decide on once I've painted the tank and either do the same colour or in gloss black instead of flat.
  8. Tank progress for today, will choose a colour and hopefully finish prep and paint by end of the week.
  9. Been trying to chip away at things while waiting for my indicators, have two but still need two more then I'll get into that. Fucked around and painted my sidecovers black, looks alright but cant decide if I like it yet. Also started hunting for dents in my gas tank so I can move onto painting it. Also my new gas cap turned up this week, not too exciting but I lost the key to my old one after years of not needing it and when it came time to put fresh gas in the ignition key didnt fit and so I resorted to jamming a screwdriver in the lock and breaking it open. So yeah a new one was in order.
  10. Haha cheers, living with the inlaws now who are big into motorbikes and were nice enough to let me bring mine along and store it in their garage
  11. Shiiiiit it's been too long since I've posted anything but with out going into reasons as to why the most important thing to know is its 98% ready to go for a wof, not finished but ready for wof.. It runs and rides! Breaks bleed, oil changed and everything now works except the indicators, the old plastic ones had perished so while I wait for the new ones to turn up I've only got little tidy up shit to do. Then its go time! Would go into what was done since I last posted but all I have to say is letting things sit for long periods of time is never good for it... Cheers fellas
  12. Thanks for that, its much appreciated ill have to post ask on there later. Would i just ask for a gearbox yoke off a L300 with the smaller drivesharft connection? (Just so i know im asking for the right thing) thanks again
  13. Thanks, ill have to have a hunt around because there is no pick a park in hastings/napier so ill have to find a local wreckers. Ha and yeah as soon as we get into a house of our own itll be in the garage, my dad just doesnt think its "worthy" of a space in his sheds as it would mean sacrificing one of his cars
  14. I was lucky enough to see my old girl while i was up at my parents for Christmas. She is looking very neglected and i think my dad has become as keen as i am for me to take possession of it again... Bring on 2018!
  15. I had thought of doing the big bore kit on my 88 gn250 but found most of them specify that they're for 90's and up models so decided not to. And had the same though as Chris R, just make it how you want it and upgrade to a more powerfull bike later.
  16. Cheers fellas, i think option 2 will be the go as im sure itll be easier to find the L200 driveshart at a wreckers or something? Do you know if its an easy job to change the gbox end of the driveshafts over?? Or would i need someone to cut and weld it?
  17. Yeah i was to its out of an L200, it was already out of the car when i brought it so not 100% And found that out thenhard was so no its at a stand still
  18. Rightio well since my last post on this thing alot has changed for me so progress on all my builds has been at a stand still. Have moved to a different town and in my new living situation it hasnt been possible to bring it with me in its current state along with not having somewhere practical to store or work it.. But ive been trying to do my research on what i need to do in order finish it off once i finally able to bring it down to where i am. Everything in regards to the engine is ready to go, the only thing thats holding me back is the drive sharft.. the one off the sigma doesnt fit the back of the 4g54's gbox so i need to figure out what the next step is and im at a loss.. from what i can guess i need to find a drivesharft that will fit the box and get the yoke swapped onto my old drivesharft so that its the right length and fits onto the diff. but as to what donor cars will have the right sized yoke im not sure.. so if any of you car gods out there have ideas on what i can do to remedy my problem i would deeply appreciate youre advice and help! Thank you in advance!
  19. So not alot has happened as my girlfriend and i are in the process of moving down to Napier. But my new drag bars and grips arrived the other week and they look mint so happy with that. Once settled in, I plan on sorting out some new side covers, a cover for under the seat and paint - currently stuck on a dark shade of green so if i dont change my mind before i do it, thats what itll be the colour. On a side note, i hooked up a battery and turned it over and sounds very promising, didnt start but i think with a new spark plug and fresh fuel ill be away! Pic for more motivation
  20. Cheers dude looks sick. I think im going to have to work on my craftmanship to get to his level. Clever how he made the side covers, i was thinking of trying a similar thing with plastic so they dont stand out so much like the current ones. Cheers for that bro
  21. Cheers mate, used a wire wheel on the drill for the bulk of it, then just a wire brush and degreaser on a rag for the rest. Have to buy metal polish i think to really bring it out.
  22. Hey everyone, i made a start at cleaning the engine up on sunday, only got an hr or so on it which was dissapointing but nun the less made a start. Seems to be comeing up alright with the wire brush and some elbow grease. Goals are to work on pulling everything apart for a full clean and re-paint before re-assembly. Have bars and grips ordered off ali express as well, so hopefully they wont take long Quick pic for motivation! Before and after of the right side. (Still not done tho)
  23. Phone app wouldnt let me edit the last post but i forgot to add, i wrapped the exhaust too, but lets be honest its not that itll do anything, its just for looks lol And also a pic comparing the old and the new front gaurd.
  24. Only another small update agian, but my shortened front gaurd arrived the other day so got that on, i had to re drill the holes for it as they werent as wide a the old ones but it worked. Also fipped my bars back to see what it would look like, because when i was thinking about what bars to get, these ones seemed to have awfully close specs too some i had looked at, so thought there was no harm in trying. I think they look good but im still undecided as they just have a bit more rise and pull back than id like, but will stick with it for now. Also found out that there was about an inch of adjustment in the rear shocks so grancked then over to the lowest setting, it seemed to change then hardness of the shock so it doesnt look lower with no load on the bike but sits less than an inch off the tyre when im sitting on it so can't complain i dont think Cheers guys Another angle (im sure this garage would drive some of you nutty. Trust me when i say its painful to work in)
  25. Not really an update but thought id share a pic of what the levers look like on the bike. I think they makes the bars look alot cleaner, and now i just need new grips and some kind of mirror to finish them off
