  1. I think it was like a 1990 Capella or something like that. Maybe even an 89. I chose them based on the needed to be black, great condition and a design in keeping with an older style car. I have the original set stashed to recondition down the line. For now, I want to to pass through VIn and cert as easy as possible. Cheers mate
  2. Seat belts are off 90s Mazda and basically I was constrained by what they looked like and colour. They em needed to be classic looking but in great condition to help cert vin. Tyres on Saturday and should have pics then. The wheels do need a touch up so hunting some gold acrylic paint. The lacquer keeps on blemishig when painted. Least of my worries but hey. I want them to look good. Cheers man
  3. Back seat is all in and sitting pretty. i do have the carpets and underlay to go in next - just awaiting the d shaft loop mounting before I do. Zebra parts was my hunting ground for some good black seat belts and now these are in and looking not too modern in the old interior. I want to mitigate as many cert/VIN issues by using new and or mint parts to help the process. Window squirtes are in also and oil cooler is mounted. Mags getting tyres this Saturday so watch this space Cheers
  4. Exhaust yet to be painted black and tidied up. Will see how it sounds tomorrow less the 2 additional resonators - I’d say it will have some bark.
  5. Tonight was exhaust night. So the dumpy is tucked up nicely and the rear 3” section is complete. All that is needed is 2 more resonators added into the twin 2” section after the headers and the hanger mounts exhaust etc. the drive shaft loop is getting crafted now too. Gas pedal is now bolted to the floor of the car and the throttle actuates wide open when you stomp on it. Im painting the exhaust tomorrow and will need a wide band sensor now as there is a port already there. Cheers
  6. hahah it's getting close! I almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning in the shed last night after starting it up. Looking forward to the additional 2 resonators and muffler - so are my neighbours.
  7. The new rear glass is now in the hole - I’m so happy to gone with new screens over used ones
  8. I just need to tuck the leading edge of the tray flap behind the rear seat top. Overall, I’m happy with this as I generally suck working on cars so I am celebrating with a hein-grenade. Tuesday the new rear screen is getting put in the hood lining is 97% right, with only a couple bits needing an extra bit of tension Game on
  9. So I cracked into the parcel tray today, as the original one was dust. Mitre 10 fibre board that comes on pallets was the ideal substrate. I used spare seat vinyl and it’s almost done. 3/4 door cards in place now
  10. New green tint Front screen is in. New green tint rear to follow when back part of hood lining in. Got a new muffler that has the smaller opening dumpy to help tuck it up under rear guard. D shaft loop and the remainder of exhaust over the following week. Then button up and VIN and cert time. More updates to come .....good things take time....
  11. Hood lining all but in. I was at full pucker cutting it for the lights and handles..... still need exhaust done and d shaft loop sussed. Hope this coming week. Then interior can can go in. I wasn’t happy with the oil cooler brackets therefore these need further attention to have it sitting at the right angle. Windscreen front is in and a new rear screen is on its was just need the rear lining tucked then it’s game on Clutch and brakes bled up Gagging for a sneaky drive
  12. the d shaft is all in brakes bled and clutch is primed all of my seats have returned and are looking great. I,d say 8/10 job however for $1800 for all incl the material, Im not complaining as pretty much all other places quoted were into the $3500 region and I ain.t loaded. I am struggling with the hood lining at the mo and once that is in, I can get the front and rear screens in place once and for all The RX2 coupe exhaust I got off my mate needed some finessing to make fit - my coupe was a piston and has the sunken wheel well which the rx2 doesnt have. thus meaning the rear 3 inch section needed a re work and I needed a smaller length rear muffler- I also put in 2 additional resonators therefore it should prove not too loud....well close to the max limit anyway. I will have the d shaft loop all welded up and in place shortly too. It also needs another couple of hours on the wiring and then it.s interior in time. closer....closer
  13. Sooo.... Auckland Balancing is finishing off my drive shaft next week and balancing it up. New slip yolk and UJs. my seats both front and back are getting trimmed now and I've blasted and painted the rails. Just need to paint the side mechanisms when I get them back. car is 97% dynamatted and the new roof lining is here, i bought a new rx2 steering knuckle, as the old one looked terrible in the engine bay - that's here this week coming too. looks like I might have an rx2 coupe exhaust to bolt on soon from a mates car... Watch this space. fun times, almost time to book in the cert
  14. It's alive. Brake lines in and all plumbed up. Few wiring niggles to sus and the hood lining will be put in soon. Then the screens.
  15. Keen as for a roadie one day mate. That Takaka hill is gagging for it need vin cert and compliance. Hopefully I have done everything right and it should not be too much of a mission.
  16. Cheers man. It’s angry as. Keen as for an exhaust so the neighbours all don’t hate me more than the already do. Super close for a sneaky drive.
  17. The wiring is 85% done im now in need of: custom drive shaft (getting made soon) weld up d shaft loop for cert dinish off the dynamat job bleed brakes and clutch put in new rooflining (arrived today) Get exhaust made (have all pipes flanges bends etc screwns in (soon after the hoodlining is done) interior and door cards then take it around the block to give it a shake down then VIN and have a cert session. Its getting close.... won be driving at nats or reunion this year.
  18. SO it appears that photobucket is not being nice...great. Here is first start up
  19. The rear callipers are now secured to the diff and were spot on using the brackets I had fabbed up. Old School FXGT callipers (fit under 13” wheels) Series 2 RX7 new discs 4 x 110 I’m replacing the countersunk stainless brake disc screws for more high tensile options and probably moving away from the allen key also. The old hard line is in place however I need to cut and flare/adapt to suit soft lines. These will need to be custom as the FXGT callipers are fine thread and the old Mazda is coarse thread. I might be able to fire the LH soft line directly to the T junction if I play my cards right… Another step closer…..keen as to button up the rear end so I can move onto the fuel system and wiring.
