I had a 1990 ZZR250 and sold it to my work mate with only 1 key and yep he managed to lose it. He just took the bike to a locksmith and they cut him a key. Not sure if it works with older bikes than that?

I got my frame back today, rear loop welded in. Its such a great job it almost seems a shame to cover it up with a seat.
A few things have changed in my build, I'm going with drag bars and not clip ons for the moment and I decided to paint the triple tree black.
I have pod filters, indicators a headlight and bars coming in the post, I still havnt purchased my mini speedo from dime city.
And now I cant decide if I want to DIY paint my frame or get it blasted and powder coated!!

That mini bike is sweet!

Check out this awesome bike build.

Its weird to think that sticker was stuck there years before I was born haha.
You have to write a letter or something stating you want to keep the plate, I reckon do what ever you can to keep the black plate!
-
They're l.e.d so much brighter than old bulb. My push bike light is brighter than most car lights haha.
-
Nice!!
Looks like a good little project!

hey what headlight did you use if you dont mind me askin?

I have that taillight on my GB, they're bloody nice quality for $9 eh. I also have one of those faux bolt LED lights over my rego plate, they work well, light the whole bike up like the Fourth of July.
Yeah they seem quite decent, Its good to know about those #plate bolt lights cos i'll need one too haha.
Looking at getting a few things from Dime City Cycles... http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-electronic-parts-mini-black-speedo-kilometer-speedometer-15-0020b.html This

Bit of a boring update...
Gave the engine a good de-grease and scrub today.
I also took to the triple clamp with the wire brush on the drill. As its alloy I think i'll leave it raw like this, its better than blue and it suits the bike.
I'm pretty sure the lower part is steel tho so i'll paint that black.
And I picked up one of these $9 tail lights off ebay. Size difference pic below haha.
Also have bar end mirrors coming and i'll be ordering small l.e.d indicators... If anyone has any recommendations on small headlights let me know.
Any advise/constructive criticism appreciated.

I haven't done any research to be honest but I assume it has to be certed.

I made some progress over the weekend,
I flipped the bars for a laugh
As it is now waiting for the frame modification (cut and loop welded in) and a re-spray or powder coat in black... Although I am a little apprehensive about powder coat.
I think the frame will be cut right behind the second to last weld and loop welded in there.
Damn those factory air boxes are a pain in the behind to remove!!!

Good use of the oven! When I painted mine I just ran the bike for a while and seemed to have done the trick.
What are you planning on making a new seat from?
-
Best thing about getting bikes for the missus is they hardly ride em so you have 2 haha.

Does it? I literally know nothing about it, I just said yup ill take it haha... Didn't even know it was metal flake paint til I saw it on the truck.
-
Haha not sure what they were thinking with the paint scheme.
Can't wait to get this thing the way I want it.

I picked this up from Auckland yesterday and rode it home in that god awful weather.
Its pretty much standard, it runs ok...ish and doesn't seem to have any problems mechanically, first thing i done was whip that exhaust off and spray it black.
I plan to get it looking as much like a cafe racer as possible and get the frame powder coated a different colour.
Plans so far
Clip ons
New grips
Pod filters
Small taillight/indicators
Shortend/new seat and a different gauge cluster.

There is a place called Grunt industries witch sell all the studs and domes, spikes, last time I went there they were in hillside road glenfield,
Do you know what the prices are like? Ebay is most likely your best shot, you can get heaps of studs for not much $$ and free shipping
-
Nice, I too am looking forward to seeing the progress!
-
I started my vest today, it was light denim blue so I dyed it black now its dark blue haha.
Ordering studs for it as we speak, think ill stay away from the 'gang' look and go more for the punx look
