How much did it end up costing landed?
-
Yeah i thought about that, might still go that route im not too worried about keeping it pretty haha. Sussing the hinge and maybe lockable clips as the cap isnt lockable.
Saves this...
-
To be honest i'm surprised it took so long for someone to mention it lol
-
Cheers! Yeah filler sucks. I cut out the base so it sits flush over it now. Debated doing toilet seat but liked the cleaner(? On a ratty bike?) look.
Planning on using the stock rubber seat pads at the rear plus some front hinge idea im cooking up to suit.

Does that mean it works forwards or reverse...or it works either way you put it on?...
I've seen them mounted the other way with the sprocket facing out. But theyre only spring in there, surely a spring goes whatever way you put it in
-
aren't they the same engine?..
-
So good! Been stoked on this one for ages too http://silodrome.com/yamaha-gravel-crew/

That chaly with no motor might be an idea for a repower

If you wire those two holes on the circlip together would that stop it popping off?

Yeah dont shorten them just compress the spring to fit the packer under it. Nylon should work ok if you can get it round the central shaft, it might work just with a slot in the donut a bit smaller than the shock shaft and just pushed on.
Its just the super budget version of winding tension onto adjustable shocks to stiffener them.
Or just aliexpress some adjustables like this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Motorcycle-accessories-adjustable-shock-absorber-240-mm-330-mm-aluminum-bold-rear-shock/32417212546.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.176.T96VX0&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_6_71_72_73_74_75,searchweb201527_4,searchweb201560_9 you can get them with height adjustment too but dont think those ones have it
-
super-budget you could compress the rear springs and add in a rubber donut thing underneath to stiffen them up...? hose clamp it on there. lush.
but in saying that, its not a moped so needs warrants...no idea if thats legit for warrants
i did a similar thing on my front forks after cutting too much spring off haha. repco has the cheap rubber bits, i was going to get nolathane but its pricey (/im cheap)

Theres usually one on tm in the wrecking bikes. In palmy i think, might have a tank
-
Haha funny, creepy google.
yeah I've still got the file but its for 7/8in bars. are you running inch bars? I could update it if so - from there you just take it to somewhere with a 3d printer. the place I used here has shut down since
-
Looks better cheers, but need it without the choke lever on it. Fs1shop.nl has a few too
-
they're integral clutch (or brake) lever perch + switchblocks. its more the housings have been repaired previously and are really bung and untidy.
i can find proper rd50 ones on ebay but theyre moonbeams. both sides with levers on AE are about 25US$
possibly a gn125 or ax100 or something similar might work, but whats yamaha's equivalent?
-
With a clutch though?
-
Looking to sub out rd50 switches (left and right including levers, horn, throttle, lights and indies) for something similar but far cheaper as mine are busted.
Quick look on aliexpress has cheap ax100 sets but they have the choke on the switch too.
What are some other common bikes (meaning cheaper parts) that would be similar?
-
Theyre cheap on amazon
-
moped variator? But for the price of something off 1977mopeds you might as well chop up some wierdo chinese scooter
-
check out wake winch sites like bullet lines etc they have more info on the tav2's
under 6.5hp-ish people usually use just a centrifugal clutch like the cheapies on trademe etc. you can get diff tooth counts and chain sizes.
at work wont let me post links but check out the likes of bullet lines site or check TM for clutches.
Bullet lines has TAV2's on sale atm so maybe check those too.
-
get one of these geese.
they bolt right onto most stationaries, used on most gokarts/wake winches etc cheaper than 250 but shipping is probably arse i didnt actually look
