  1. if your not in a rush i do cages in between other work and im in south auckland, never done less than a 6 point tho, as adding the front stays on later and still guaranteeing 360 degree welds is often hard to do nicely without dropping cage down

Are you Todd? From clubk? Over near Ambury farm? Im in no real rush dude, just thought i'd start seriously looking into it/ start to organise getting it into a shop/ someone to do it.

  2. Just a cut and paste from Schedule A for reference:

Homologation for a half cage is a piece of cake - just fill out the form and get a logbook at the same time. Then you can use the car for anything in the future (up to club level race events), have the ability to extend the cage if needed and also add value to the car if you ever sell it.

Sweeeet Dude! Cheers for that, so i'll probably try chubb's tomorrow and take your advice.

  3. Yeah, that was the decision I was going to make, if I wanted the 4 point, I'd have to go down the line of the whole MANZ approved cage with log book/ racing license, but I was under the impression, that with a half cage, you'd only be needing a cert AS long as your car was certified as a 2 seater? Ideally, at the moment, its just going to be a road car. But it will be used at Hori Dori events as well as the odd Club-k trackday/ any other track day I can get it too.

  4. Hi guys, so im at the stage where i've almost got everything I need for my 20v 7agte ae85 build. Just gearbox/ ECU/ driveshaft remaining.

I've been considering getting either a 4 point cage or a half cage for it, with both having a harness bar. But, im just curious as to where people would recomend, in Auckland to get it done? I have no problem throwing the car up on a trailer or towing it there, if its close enough, just want someone to do a good job at a fair price. - Its a car built on the Student allowance. Lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, oh, and also. How long should I be considering for it to take to build?

  5. So story short, my mechanic fiddled with my twin 45's on my worked 4age when he was pissed. Been running about in it every so often for the last year - maybe 8 or 9 times? for a quick blat. And after we swapped the bodies/ running gear to another coupe we decided it was time to get the dellortoes fixed/ rejetted/ timing all set up/ flat spots all done...

We took it to CSL in New market, paid $820 for him to repair, and he did. But now, it seems that there is a WHOLE LOT less power in the motor? No longer as quick, can not keep up anything slighted worked...

We did get it back from him with the fuel regulator set on 1 ( the rally dudes that built the motor had it previously set to 3 )

We took it for a blat set on 1. No power whatso ever.

Decided it might be due to the regulator being set on 1, so changed it back to 3. Still not as much power as prior and it still seems to be starving of fuel... I'm just wondering what could be wrong? I'm a Law student, and im no way a mechanic. But im thinking he could have buggered up the jets or soemthing?

Should I take it back to him and ask WTF? Or what should I do?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS. Everything was exactly the same from my previous coupe. Right down to the interior...

  6. You could try Shuk Engineering.

Second that, if you call the branch in Henderson, Auckland ( not sure if its the only one of not ) and ask for Hugh, just tell him that Bex's boyfriend sent you and he should hook you up if hes in a decent mood.
  7. I've got about three 16v's lying round home, plus 2 1/2 20v's... 95% complete each... -.- haha, and did have 8 or 9 t50's earlier in the year... Not hard to come by, if you HOARD trademe all day every day... :P

  8. Hey dude, if your keen I got a spare T series housing that was off a Ta22, so its a tad longer than the ke35's 1356mm wide diff or something. I'm in Auckland, you'd just be needing a diff head, your brakelines and some brake housings for it. I maaay be able to help you out with a diff head with a 4.1 ratio but unsure what my 4.8 will be like... Weld on your leaf spring mounts and your set...

  9. Spotted request.

    Auckland North Shore peeps.

I have seen a truck that is evading me.

It has driven past the short piece of Road I can see from up the drive at work a couple of times now.

I saw it today as I was getting on the motorway at Albany highway. But the shitty tree mesh on the side blocked my view after the initial flash siteing.

It's ratty ish green in colour I believe.

Looks like one of these but is lifted up high.

Would love to see it IRL properly.

Theres one of these sitting down a driveway off a R.O.W in Avondale, Auckland where I do some deliveries too, if I remember I can ask around and find out who's it is? Its been sitting there for atleast the two years i've been doing the deliveries.
  10. Hahaha, looks a lot different from when we sold it to you mate, did you ever come up for that windscreen? Still got it sitting on top of a cabinet at home if you want it. We we're in the process of moving when you came up the second time. Did you ever manage to do that 7mgte conversion or whatever it was? Or still got the old holden motor in it

  11. Otherwise instead of buying and selling cars to make money or making em tidy and nice, have you thought of just buying and selling parts mate? Im in the same situation as you, im 19, at uni. Got given my first car (ke35) and saved up about $1000 and just spent it all on buying and selling stuff... I've made enough to replace my ke35 with a much tidier and nicer one, enough to pay the mechanic to swap it all over/ cert etc as well as a ke36/ which I ended up getting for free due to selling off the crap I didn't want/ need and an ae85 with the entire 20v 4age/t50 conversion for about $400 at the moment mate as well as all the money i've wasted on tattoos/ crap I didn't need... If you've got a car, and don't mind clocking up some miles to go get stuff you'll be making money quickly, specially if you've got enough spare time after uni exams to be trolling on trademe all the time... You'd be surprised at the bargains you can get if you drive an hour or so to go get if they're buyer must pick up...

    Or. Buy this. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/toyota/corolla/auction-525185853.htm

  12. Hi guys, Im Liam. I live out in West Auckland. I have two ke35's one powered by an ex rally ae86 16v from Whangarei, the other has a low Km's 4k from a Nana's ke70 wagon. Also have a 2 door ke36 wagon thats in the process of being rebuilt, ground up. Hopefully its going to be running a camry v6 or the likes. Just for something a little different. Also have a ae85 trueno panda which is going to have a 20v 7agte in it - currently at the mechanics. And just got rid of my AWESOME lil 120l 5 speed Skoda to my mate in Te Atatu. Found out about oldschool ages back through Clubk and heaps of people who I have bought stuff from, just havn't been bothered to sign up until now. Cheers, Liam
