  1. Spotted the boss's new whip today- gold lincoln turned into a ute. Its definatly..noticeable

    avengerandlimcoln_zpsa86db394.jpg

MEAN. We drove past this in the dealership a few months back on teh way home from the mount. We stopped and took photo's of it and were thinking the fuck...

  2. So I had some coilovers that I sold with a car.

They had the LCA's cut off from a silvia and welded on.

The paper work I got with it stated that it was going to be used in a certain car. ( had the vin/ chassis code on the form )

Now, the guy who I sold said certain car is trying to sell the coilovers/ lca's/ brakes etc.

Can the crack testing paperwork be transferred or used for different cars other than the original chassis/ vin code thats stated on the form? Or will I have to get the crack testing redone etc etc.

Its cheaper for me to buy them back than it is to get them redone etc.

    Cheers

  3. hey,

Was wondering if RA60 Celica guards would fit/ be close enough to actually use on a AA60 Carina hatch?

Found some on trademe, $80. Would have no problem with taking the risk, but its a buyer must pick up and they're in Wanganui. I'm in Auckland >.>

If anyone could shead some light, that would be awesome.

  4. Heey guys,

So I needed a daily whilst my V8 is being built due to me selling off all my cars haha.

    Anywho,

Picked up this Carina off trademe. Was on there for a little while...

An old guy that worked at Mainfeild teaching students to race cars/ build em? Had it. UCOL or something.

We left Auckland at 2am Saturday morning to go get it, thinking it was wof and reg'd it would be sweeeeeet to drive home. However when we got to Fielding, we discovered the waterpump had F#^ked itself from sitting in storage.

So from Fielding to Auckland was a long drive. Constantly overheating. Constantly spitting out water. We ended up plugging up the waterpump to get it home from Matamata.

So its now just sitting on some flipped meshies I had. My good wheels are staying on my TE31 XD

    How it is now:

    7ev9.jpg

    5voo.jpg

    vnn2.jpg

Was on shitty little steelies that made it float more than a boat.

    PROS:

    • Toyota buggered up plates, so it says its a 2L.
    • Electronic dash.
    • Decent brakes.
    • New waterpump.
    • Cheap to run
    • BLOODY MASSIVE IN SIDE! AMOUNT OF TOOLS I CAN GET IN IS RIDICULOUS

    CONS:

    • Shocks are routed.
    • Waterpump F%$ked. Now fixed.
    • Radiator 99% blocked
    • NO Radio.
    • Severly cracked dash.
    • Some really dodgy looking repairs made.
    • A wee bit of rust in bottom of guards.

    PLANS:

    • LOOWER FROM 4x4 spec to something decent. HALF DONE
    • Replace 3.9:1 diff CHECK. 4.8:1 in there.
    • New front reclinables
    • Front brake upgrade - to the celica vented. CHECK
    • Fix rust.
    • Tinted windows
    • Chuck on my Sexy Japanese lady gearstick from Nathan in Hamilton CHECK.
    • Adapt an AE86 notch back TRD ducktale to fit.

  5. Pretty easy. I've got some superlows out of my TE31 if you're interested.

Price wise, brand new monroe shocks with Dobi front lowering srings for a TE31 was $430 walk in price. But TE31 have slightly different shocks from Ke30 so I would assume they're a bit dearer.

  6. Hahahah yeah, been told not to cut up the TE31 bonnet as they're rare as rocking horse shit and worth some decent coin. I've got a few different Ke3# bonnets luckily in storage so thats no problem, otherwise if it does have to come down to cutting it up completely, i'll find a rusty or just buy a brand new fibreglass one..

I'm happy with a 2cm/3cm bulge in the bonnet, and i'll get it painted so it still kind of looks factory until you get close, but got to get the mounts sorted out first.

The engine ones are pretty whorey, so my old man is going to make me up some that look nicer/ stronger and hopefully sit the engine a tad lower..

Also been considering 'hug fit' type extractors like on the big chevvy v8's/ a winged sump so I don't rip it off going out the driveway.

  7. Oh real? Thats pretty good to know haha :) Yeah, when I got it, it was on cutties with the most whorey lowering block setup ever.. The guy 'modded' the radiator to suit the 1UZ by turning it  upside down, so the bung is now at the top of the tank -.- I've heard the S15/ Commodore radiators have the perfect outlets for a 1UZ so i'm hoping i'll get an Alloy one for an Xmas pressie from someone.

Was it red when he had it? Or the yuk toyota yellow?

  8. So I got a new storage unit.

We put the front struts after buying new springs and shocks, we chucked em back in after I spent a stupid amount of time with a wire brush and sandpaper...

Painted and cleaned the wheel wells, front and rear, struts, hubs, plates and leaf springs..

    http://i.imgur.com/lq8uEwIh.jpg

Pulled out the diff, and found out why it was so tight. The guy who 'shortened' the diff didn't do it very well...  The axles are kinda warped now and don't spin anywhere near true...

Luckily I've had a spare shortened Hilux arse end minus the mounts that was going to go into my ke36... The S14 brake kit i've got bolts onto this one as well which is a bonus - didn't bolt onto the last Hilux one which was weird.

We are making the mounts for it ourselves over boxing day/ new years.

  9. Hey,

Its a left hand drive TE31, with a 1UZ Sitting in it. Was bought in from the states and lived in Invercargil for a wee while.

Was originally running a 2TC when it was road legal here.

    How I got it:

*TE31. Full mint interior. Currently has the shitty interior in it.
*Hilux diff, drum brakes. Hubs turned down to suit 13 inch modgies
*1UZ-FE import with auto box, all mounts made up.
    *Driveshaft made up
    *Wiring started
*Standard front struts with SW20 calipers on vented Nissan disc?
    *Starting of exhaust made up.
    *13x7 Modgies

Has cool little things on it like red indicators behind the rear doors, different license plate lights, and some fancy lights/ switches in the car.

    http://i.imgur.com/gHVwILBh.jpg

Also has original radio too, which is pretty choice.

    te31_body.jpg

    Plans:

*S14 Rear brake upgrade. Have got a SEMI bolt on kit which doesn't really fit at all...
*Put factory mint interior back in
    *Finish wiring for 1UZ
    *Eventually W58 + Link ECU
*14X7 Gallop Racing Mesh wheels. Flipped.
*Slightly flared guards - metal not fibreglass
*Tow bar - to tow my fun car around.
*CERT, WOF AND REGO BEFORE UNI STARTS BACK IN 2014.

    te31_lhd.jpg

Trying to keep it as standard as looking, however we adjusted the 1UZ today, to the center of the engine bay. Was out towards the left side by 30mm, as we had a massive clearance problem from the exhaust bolts sitting on the steering box and there being no room for the Brake booster/ cylinders.

Now the bonnet doesn't shut, and by the looks of it, going to have it cut out the center and put a scoop or something on it.

  10. Hey guys,

So I bought a new car, and toyota fucked up on the tags. Its a carina with a 3au and whatnot, but the factory tags say its a 2litre :P

So I'm thinking about a 3sge into the carina...

It had a 4age smallport in the boot, which is has done 130k's, with full uncut loom and ecu, plenum has been cut, but not rewelded.

Will find out today if its a bluetop/ redtop head.

    What would it be worth?

    Any help would be choice.

  11. That metal mount plate looks very commercial spec Hilux as it's a hanging type. Also the short length could make it a G series box which is essentially the same as W but shorter and with commercial spec ratios.

    I'm thinking G52.

Ugh. Cheers man, thats gay as. Oh well, all good. Thanks :)

  12. Okay, i'm not sure if my brain isn't working or I'm just not comparing things properly?

I got told this box was a W Series when I went and picked it up yesterday. Its got a steel plate in teh center - so I was thinking W58? ( only wanted it due to the bellhousing anyways )

But after looking at pic's from my old W58 and other W55's i'm completely zoned out.

    This is the new one:

I thought W series had 6 bolts for the shifter housing to go into? And does the tail housing section of it look funny?

I've been looking at Hilux boxes thinking it may be one of them?

10 Brownie points to whoever can help me.

    Cheers.

  13. ^ that's pretty sweet

Pretty keen to make this work

We have myself, Ed and corbie as interested parties atm - anyone else? We need one other to make a 107m2 place stack up financially (about $45 for an 18m2 spot) or two others at $45 a spot for 23m2 at Henderson

If your interested I'd be keen for one spot? Just to keep my ae85 project out of the rain etc... And whats the story like for power etc? As I know my old man has been looking for somewhere to set up a bench to make shit.. (he's a carpenter) and if thats sweet i'll talk to him about paying for two spots? One for me, one for him? Obviously just automatic payments coming out each week. But who's name would it be under etc etc.

  14. Hey guys,

I got the carb's rebuilt for my 4age recently. And just called up the guy at CSL - who rebuilt them. He doesn't seem to want much to do with them,

So I've had a mechanic look at them and they are supposedly being starved/ running quite lean. And after a google ( apparently the engine will heat up a whole lot more/ waaay less power etc ) I can assume he's right as it never use to get hot, and it had a shit load more power and torque when driving prior to getting the guy at CSL to rebuild them.

Was wondering if anyone know's someone that can reset the fuel level in the bowl? How long it would take etc etc. Prefer someone in Auckland that could do it fairly shortly before I spend all my cash on other things.

    Cheers

  15. Do you have the car? Measure the points of the car. Should be parallel?

Otherwise I can check of the volvo diff I modified in my ke70 this weekend for you.

Got the car - its on blocks at the moment. ( got no diff in it ) If you could check the volvo diff that would be great mate. Cheers

  16. That width seems fairly perfect to me. Isn't standard 1460 or something?

I have a bunch of ae85/6 and hilux diffs already converted in the shed if you want to come and have a look or borrow one or something. I have an ae85 diff sitting there that would be perfect for making a jig from. I even had a jig a few years back but it got binned accidentally.

OH yeah? That would be sweet if I could come have a look/ a measure up man :)

Yeah, I was just wondering - after a quick google, found that the ae86 diffs are 1410 wide ( ish ) and was wondering if the mounts would all be in the same place if I were to buy this Hilux diff which is 1360 wide ( so 50mm skinnier lol )

  17. Hey guys, as per title. I was wondering if anyone had a rough guesstimate at where the mounts actually sit on an ae86 diff?

I know the diff's are about 1410mm wide ish.

But haven't been able to find measurements for where they actually sit.

Just wanting to know 'cause I can get my hands on a Hilux rear end thats been shortened -

Its about 1360mm wide with a LSD head and all ready to get new mounts thrown onto it fairly cheap off a mate.

    - Would the hilux diff be to skinny to chuck in an ae85?

    Cheers
