    "you probs dont wana hear it but I just cut my springs all round. Then Got front shocks from a ae92 GT for the front of the carina and spaced them from the top with abit of tube to fit in the strut snug. In the back you have to get real short to be shorter then stock. I think they are about the same as ke70 wagon in length. I used hilux front shocks in the rear and just drilled out around the rubbers and inserted the old shocks rubbers with alittle help from soap and water. The car drove real nice. Pretty sure cutting out a coil or coils makes the spring stiffer. I always do this and always get away with it as I say they are compressed. "

  2. It's super easy to lower the back of these, or any live axel coil rear. Just get some short shocks, Hilux etc and some short springs. No need Togo IRS to slam

     

    Kurt, you know what springs and shocks they use?

     

    Been told that you can you use hilux front shocks in the rear and then just cutties and it'll keep them captive?

     

    I was only looking at the IRS for diff upgrade/ turning car into a track car eventually and better ratio's so I can make use of a 9,500rev limit lool...

  3. GX71 supposedly fit. I'm in the same boat as you mate. I've sussed out the front, but i'm very tempted to almost convert to Silvia rear coilovers and get some strut towers built in shortly.

     

    Message oldschool auto's, they've got some in stock that'll fit. I think they were $260 for shocks and $300 for springs? But thats only a 40mm drop. I was wanting 70-80 so bought some Silvia coilovers for the front and going to sus out the arse end somehow.

     

    Is yours IRS or Live axle? T series diff?

  4. It doesn't peel off without you trying to peel it off. I've got some on a car - red don't cover very well, my mirrors are painted black, with one coat. Lasted 3 months so far, no scratches or marks. Quite hardy shit.

     

    But yeah, its bloody expensive if you're buying by the can. I think you can get 10L drums somewhere for quite decent. 

     

    I wouldn't spray the whole car though, you're suppose to do about 5-6 coats, and I used two cans of red on a small hatch back bootlid and its still not done/ can still see the original red underneath so I couldn't be fucked spending more on it.

     

    Would be alright if you painted it the black....

     

    If you want pictures, i'll show you what I mean, i'll even vid peeling some off if you'd like... It comes off easily enough when you're trying to peel it off.

    I've lost motivation to make my carina cool. Haha, so I got my sister to buy me a Ke17 sprinter in aussie - she's the 2nd owner and comes with a whooooole heap of brand new old stock junk like guards bonnet etc...

     

    I need cash to bring it over/ get it legal.

     

    So what do you reckon an AA60 Carina hatch is worth?

     

    Good points:

    • T50 is sweet.
    • 4.8:1 diff head. 
    • Spare T series diff head.
    • Rebuilt brakes.
    • Electronic dash.
    • Interior is very tidy when its cleaned. ( F*$ked dash )
    • Rebuilt 4age with GZE bottom end. 
    • Genuine Japanese extractors.
    • Full 2 3/4 inch straight exhaust.
    • Electric fender mirrors.
    • 14x6.5 3 piece mesh wheels with new tyres.
    • Brand new Ae86 alloy radiator
    • Fresh WoF/ Rego.

    Bad points:

     

    • ONE OF THE UGLIEEEEEST DUCKLINGS IN THE WORLD.
    • Bottom of guards rusty
    • Paint is typical old red and faded.

    Toyota also stuffed up on the tags stating that the 3AU is a 2litre, so if you're that way inclined and have a friendly wof man, you MAY get away with a 3sge or something under the hood without cert >.> Not that i'd do that of course.

    What was the license on that? Wasn't JL1673 or something was it? If it was and you see it around again can you PM me? It'll be my old ke35 with a very very very worked 4age thats running 45mm dellortos on a t series diff/ t50. Runs like a sack of shit due to tuning. But yeah, I wanna buy it back.

  9. go pink. Pink engines are legit. Everyone loves my 20V rocker covers/ intake plenum that are pink. Block is baby blue. Even extractors are getting pink heat wrap. 

     

     

    Totes NO HOMO. 

     

    Would look eveeeeen more sick with a gloss black engine bay.

    Yup. I spoke to the fella one day outside the booze shop in Glen Dene.

     

    Its a 1UZ on ITBS running a T50/ T series rear end I believe he said.

     

    He had it built down in Glen Dene/ Spam farm I believe he said... Half the firewall was cut out :/ But he managed to retain factory sway bar/ brake booster too.

  12. If this is a daily then I don't know what the fuck you're doing. A 4.8 will mean you are revving the dick out of it everywhere and going nowhere, and although your choices of headers will somewhat complement your revving, you're still going nowhere with it. You'd look like a right cock accelerating away from traffic lights when you need to scream the fuck out of the engine just to keep up with the Odyssey in front of you (regardless of the fact that you could outrun it easily, you're on a street. What ya gonna do?). 

    Fuck sitting anywhere near 5K at 100kph. If this is a track hack / thrashmobile then sweet, but if you are driving this often (and especially over distances) that will get old super fast.

     

     

    I've got to take it out now anyway, I bought it from a dude in Christchurch as a 'rebuilt' head. Whines stupidly loud. Will probably look at a 4.3 head, rev's weren't too bad, my tire size dropped the revs quite a bit to about 4.1k ish at 100kmph.

    So the 4AGE I'm in the process of paying off comes with some HKS Jasma 4-1 extractors. Will upload a pic shortly.

     

    I was just wondering which would be better to use, and which would be better to sell.

     

    I've got an old set of extractors, which I believe are TRD style 4-2-1 that came with my old worked 4age. Never used them as they didn't fit into my Ke35.

     

     

     

     

    The plan for my Carina at the moment is to run a faaairly standard 16V 4age with a 4.8:1 T series head as my daily/ uni wagon, and EVENTUALLY get some nice cams for it.

     

    What would be better for a bit of around the street LEGAL hooning?  The 4-1 HKS extractors or the 4-2-1 extractors...

     

     

    What you reckon they'll be worth? I can't really find anything related to the JASMA extractors on the net so have no idea... Last set of 4-2-1 extractors I had took months to sell and only got a hundy for em so advise please.

  14. Have made little to no progress... Been broke due to no student allowance at the moment...

     

    Have bought a few little niceties for this.

    Full set of Teins. $65 - getting them rebuilt then changed to suit my Carina eventually.

    ANNNNND Because the old 3AU is a sack of shit and struggles to get my fat ass up hills. We've agreed and paying off this 4AGE 16V until my new engine is built XD

    $700. With a K50, A series box + clutch setup. With some spare parts. But mainly because its a GZE bottom end, ( been rebuilt ) 16V bigport head ( Been rebuilt ) with receipts and HKS Jasma extractors...

     

    Contemplating running twin carbs so I don't have to bother about wiring/ ECU troubles... But will definitely get a lightened flywheel so I can ring it out on teh streets with my 4.8:1 T series head...

  15. I think it maaay have been KatiKati. I'll get the picture off my mates camera ( think it has the dealerships name in the photo as well ) The back doors are still kind of there as well eh? Like they've been cut down/ welded shut? Its crack up as. Definitely 'custom'
