Whats all these carless days stickers? What was that about? A city thing we blenheim yokels never got?

They're awesome, well done!d
Without wanting to be a dick, you haven't got a 68-69 sticker in the sheet that I could see...
Unfortunately after heaps of photos the 68-69 rego label was the only one that didn't feature on any cars so I didn't have any reference pics.
Edit. I could however make one, the color would just be random
-
I would say they were sticker related only. Otherwise they would have to print separately at origin. I can however put any number you like into it

ok have done 99% of the regos now (just the 1961-64 series to do) half the carless days done as still unsure on colors. Some of the rego colors may not be exactly right as there was some fading on the ones I had for reference but they are fairly close and I will reiterate they may not be 100% accurate (slight font differences, signatures, positioning etc) but for what they will be used for. But I'm happy with them so far.
I will get a run done with regos already asked for to see how they turn out when printed. and then should get an idea on price (poss $2 - $3 each)If I'm Happy with end result then I will start getting more done on request plus some extras
Thanks for all your feedback too Guys,

Yep will be doing that one too

great work, also keen on some of these and the idea on sticking on the inside of window, where would the correct placement be for these around the window?
The placement for these old regos is the top middle of windscreen, basically in front of rearview mirror
-
talked to my printing guy tonight and he said they can be reverse printed onto clear vinyl then backwrapped in white to give inside adhesion onto interior windscreens so Mr Trips can be happy.
So will get onto the last half of the regos and carless days and get them on track to Electric Designs as soon as I can- 2

I will suss it out. I thought they did go on the outside but on second glance they do go on inside...the 1990's rectangle ones went on the outside al motobike style and had 4 tiny slices thru them so if you tried to steal it would break away..
-
You should get all of these printed on a single sheet as a set. Would save on the pick and choose factor when it comes to selling them off and I'm sure that full set would be desired by most.
I have them all as seperate files anyway so can set up a sheet for printing in 10 minutes. that way if someone wants 4 80s reg and some carless days they aren't stuck with 5 70s ones and a bike. Its all about what the customer wants....
Almost matches the colour of my car - cute!
edit - no wait I want the orange one don't I. LOL
i can always amend the color. You could have the only green 82 sticker.
Just a thought - reproducing these stickers may make it very hard for people to use original registration stickers as evidence of a car being previously registered in NZ. I am currently in this boat (no plates but have the original sticker on the screen) and would be fairly peeved off If I couldnt get my car re registered because of the increase in use of aftermarket stickers that imitate the original ones. I know I wont have issues as I plan to get sorted soon, but this could become an issue within a few years if it becomes the cool thing to do? Just food for thought.
I did think of the legality and possible complications from having one on the car, That was not one of them tho. Depending on the MOT's database every rego SHOULD be recorded against a certain car in a certain year so the serial / rego numbers should match in their records....of course that is assuming that the NZTA has proper records over the years. I have modeled some of the serial numbers on the original ticket so will actually change them to random numbers to either a/ not be in exsistance or B/ be a totally different vehicle.
I did also think of changing the "registrar of Motor Vehicles" to "Secretary of Old School" and then get someone like KK to sign it so that people would realise it is not real.
I must also stipulate that the only way people will get these is thru here. Not interested on sticking them on tardme or creating a wealth sinkhole filled of money that I can bath in. just something I wanted for my car and looks like a few others do too

That would be awesome snoozin! Be nice to get the colours as close as possible.
At this stage the stickers will be old school slap on the outside ones but done with high grade ink ala vehicle wrap spec
Kk depending on month of first rego of your car, it could go 81-82 or 82-83.the cut off date for these regos is 30th june

Ok getting closer..... unfortunately the carless days stickers were faded so color distinctions between tuesday and thursdays are too close to the same purple. altho the thursday pic in previous page suggest thursday was purple. Tuesday may be a red or pink. The Friday one I could partially see looked brown but have read elsewhere that it could possibly be grey. So if anyone has more info (hopefully KK from Hawkes Boes museum trip may help) please throw it in the mix or I may have to guess (but would like to be as historically close as I can)
Progress so far (If any special years needed please post up too)

The oldschool oil ones were just a mockup for oil change stickers mentioned in a previous post...I had a bit of time on my hands so whipped them up.

I got sick of people asking me if my little red coupe was for sale. So I stuck up a sign reading:
4 SALE $1,500,000. My part trade your house, bache and boat with cash my way.
People stopped asking after that.
/sorry spam.
So it is for sale then
oooooh How much?

so i am of the earlier generation and would like to know what happened back in the days of this rego and carless days, why did they phase this out?is it just like our rego now just in funky yearly colours?
The registration labels are just old versions of the rego label we now have on bottom left of windscreen. diff color for diff years.
from Wiki
Carless days were introduced by the Muldoon government of New Zealand on 30 July 1979. The enabling legislation was one of several unsuccessful attempts to help the declining New Zealand economy after the oil shocks of the late 1970s - other such policies included the Think Big strategy.
In this scheme, the owners of all private petrol-powered motor vehicles under 4,400 pounds (2,000 kg), with the exception of motorcycles, were required to refrain from using their car on one day of the week, that day being designated by the owner. Thursday was the most frequently chosen day. Each car displayed a sticker on its windscreen which noted the day on which it could not be used, and infringements were punishable by a hefty fine. Other restrictions were also brought in, including reducing the open-road speed limit from 100 km/h to 80 km/h and restricting the hours thatpetrol could be sold at service stations and garages.
The carless days scheme lasted barely a year (though the 80 km/h limit remained for several years). The legislation was a failure for a number of reasons. Most importantly, exemptions were allowed, indicated by an exemption sticker. A black market for exemption stickers and imitations of them quickly developed, rendering the scheme unworkable. There was also a distinct problem in inequality — households that could afford to run two cars could simply choose different days for the two cars and continue to drive on all seven days as before. In addition, there is anecdotal evidence of people driving considerably greater mileages to achieve their daily travel needs on days they had the use of one car rather than two.

That is similar to one we have in our old Isuzu Jap spec prision/school bus. It is a intercom/loudspeaker for internal shouting at noisy children
