  1. Cheers, the water pump was a little under $100. Was thinking about doing that, since the plastic coating has faded and is cracking off at the end. How did you do yours? Just peel off the plastic and then paint it?
  2. Parts arrived from Toyota awhile ago. Engine is at Hartley's getting some work done to it. Second pair of starsharks hasn't arrived yet, hopefully this coming week. Gave it a polish today, came out pretty good. Also repainted the bumper end caps and fender mirrors satin black since they look average in gloss. Doing that I discovered one of the front end caps is actually a rear one, so is slightly different. So if anyone has a good r/h front bumper end cap they don't want, i'll take it.
  3. Pulled off all the extra mounts and brackets that I no longer needed and welded up the bottom of the c-notch. Took it to A1 sandblasting who sandblasted and primered it. Looks so much better! I think the next step is to box it, make some new crossmembers and sort out the rear arms.
  4. I only got the street pads. Didn't have enough money for the polymatrix ones haha. Will get some soon though!
  5. It is the Constructors/MG car club trackday. A few co-workers are going, that's why I wanted to go, but found out more about it today. It sounds like there isn't going to be much track time so might give it a pass since I need to save some money as well. I'm pretty sure these are the ones:
  6. Didn't trust the standard brakes anymore so, bought the 4 pot Wilwood brake kit with 280mm Brembo discs from MRP. Installed them this afternoon, just need to sort out the braided lines and they are done. Wheel alignment next, then it can go back on the track on the 26th if funds allow.
  7. Pulled the cab off the chassis today. Flipped the chassis upside down so I can finish welding the c-notch. Once that's done it can probably go to get sandblasted. Heaps of room under the bonnet for a supercharger
  8. Installed some adjustable arms in the rear and camber plates in the front. Had to make some custom top plates for the front, since the stud spacing wasn't correct. Which was weird since they were meant to fit AE101's. The stance is much better now, looks awesome from behind. Spent the most in one go on this car a few days ago. Hopefully the stuff arrives next week.
  9. Not much of an update, but gave these a bead blast and they came up pretty good. Will just leave them with this finish, as I really can't be bothered trying to polish them. Will be too hard to get an even polish all over.
  10. Started to pull apart the 4K the past week. Looks to be in pretty good condition. Ordered some parts and a gasket set from Mark at Toyota, should be here soon from Japan. Need to get some bearings and piston rings at some point too. Gave the block and pulleys a coat of black engine enamel to tidy them up a bit. Started to polish the cylinder head cover and timing chain cover. They look a bit nicer, but will give them a bead blast at work and then another polish to get them looking better. Might take the head and camshaft to an engine builder this week and see if they can do some porting and give the cam a grind.
  11. Would a 30/32 DMTE Weber downdraft carburettor suit a mildly worked 4K? Couldn't seem to find much on google about them
  12. I think the cause of my one falling out was the pads being quite worn which I didn't realise. Rotor thickness seems fine. Would have changed them before going up to Taupo. The other side had about 2mm left in it.
  13. Got the lower airbag mounts all done. Chucked the airbags in. They sit good, just a little too close to the lower rear arm so might grind a little off. Cool video:
  14. Funny enough, I just started reading that haha
  15. Picked up a pair of SSR Star Sharks in Taupo thanks to kp_james for bringing them. They're 13x6's with I think +11 offset. Gave them a polish and they came up quite nice. I have another pair on there way from Japan, which should hopefully arrive soon. Will the current 175/70 tyres look alright on them? Or would it be better with some lower profile ones? Got a 4K from James as well. I am keen to rebuild it and get a bit more power out of it, but I don't really know where to start, so any suggestions on what to do? //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48889-matts-81-kp60-starlet-discussion/
  16. Done a few trackdays and an autocross on the back track at Manfeild. Not very much has changed apart from some Toyo Proxes R888's, better brake pads and changed up the engine bay a bit. Handles so sweet around corners now, apart from one wheel spinning coming out of corners, because no LSD. An LSD is next on the list to get, once I can find a decent one for a reasonably price. Drove it up to a Taupo trackday today, it was going good until one of the front brake pads flew out going down the back straight at 180km/h. Luckily there was a long run off area, so no damage apart from some groves in the disc. We managed to get a new pad in there and drove it back home.
  17. Nah, will convert it to right hand drive
  18. Thank you, it's not progressing as quickly as I would like it to though haha. We did think about the bag mounts being parallel, they were off by about 5-10mm I think. Wasn't enough angle to worry about.
  19. Certifier came and looked at this last week and said everything looked good. His only suggestion was to box the whole chassis because of the engine upgrade. Finished the top airbag mounts in the front end. Fitted together quite nicely. Just need to get the lower airbag plates laser cut, then drill some holes for the bags and the front suspension should pretty much be done for now.
  20. Got the front end centred and straight (hopefully). Made some mounts for it and tacked them on. Unsure whether to TIG or MIG them on. Opinions? Also had some air bag mounting plates laser cut at work. Going to weld the 3mm plates to the front end and then just bolt the 5mm ones to the bag, which then bolts up to the front end. Then to try and figure out how to setup the rear suspension.
  21. Got the new window rubber in. No more wet floor! Bought some semi-sealed beam headlights from Olds Cool Autos and some H4 bulbs. Sooo much better and brighter. That's about all really. New wheels should be here next month, can't wait!
  22. It is currently auto, but I would like it manual. Might just leave it auto for now though
