cheers, Its on its way but I think pn is 8966160N11. Ive got the techstream thing coming but Im dont think they can disable.
The car its going into ( 2012 fj ) has a chip key so I may be able to reset the immobiliser for the key in there already but have no idea.

Hi all,
I need the immobilser deleted from a 2009 ish Prado ECU. I can get it done in oz but anyone know of someone who can do it in NZ ?
From what I understand ECU has to be opened, chip accessed and eeprom disabled. Some of the remote start kits do the same but I think still need the original key once the engine is running.
Cheers

I blew a hole in the V6 in my fj cruiser ( big rav ) yesterday and am pulling it today with the intention of putting a 1KD in it, after a 20 hour shift on google theres a few good options for ECU's and TCMs etc for all these late engines now. It will work well or not at all, should be able to keep my trans ( A750F ), ill put some pics up once I know it works

I had a 1KZ with manual pump, extra fuel pressure and boost, intercooler etc in a 1/2 chev pickup, it went awesome, burnt not much and I ran diesel, kerosene, cooking oil or whatever else through it. The guy that bought the truck put a 327 in it and then complained it was slow. They are a bitch to find boxes for, I ran an A340LE hiace / cherokee / supra box with relays to shift manually but you can get TCMs for them. It did skids, passed cars, hauled heaps of crap fine.
I had a 15BT in a 60 series cruiser, beast of a motor, 700NM and 210 hp at 16 psi, manual pump, special turbo etc. It hauled arse and still is with new owner. The engine was hard to find but bolts straight to the H55 box. that was the pick of the B engines, under piston oiling, direct injection, easy to turbo.
Ive got a 1HZ cruiser camper, great engine but to me the 1HZ/1HDT etc are not worth the cost and size.
If you want steam and versatility with fuels ( non-common rail ) my pick would be 1KZ, cummins 4bt or 6BT if you can deal with the weight, US aftermarket has them sorted but they are long and tall and 480 kg or so.

Somewhere in there I took it to Winton Upholstery and Chop packed it out with Cow skins, I wanted it basically stock looking with lots of soothing browns, he did that, super clean and easy to deal with.
The 6 weeks of to and fro with the TAC and its legal, I missed the hop and nostalgias which I was fuming about but it would probably not have been that smart to drag it straight up there, now I just to get the carbs talking better and maybe sell it or not, havent decided yet.

I wired it up with a Painless harness which was painless, then took it outside , and thought I was really cool
Took it to the Lurkers creepout won best Hotrod , my first Trophy for a car, and really the only one I care about, solid peer review, then to the great cromwell standaroundathon. the chopped 51 belongs to Stewie the painter, its a mans car. Also pictured is some kid and some dudes gut.

Then off to Michael Stewart Restorations in Cromwell, these guy know their shit, Stewie and Chiz have both worked in body shops offshore and are the only guys I spoke to round here that could actually see what I was trying to achieve with it. Chiz raised the front fenders 5 inches ( OMG ! ) and only the purists seem to notice , and they hate it anyway. I wanted the factory line from the fender through the door kept, and didtn want the gap between the fender and headlight closed too much.
Got it home, started scratching it
engines in the background here are T58 gas turbines we race in jet boats, see 777 river racing on facepalm. I build the motors ( Im a helicopter mechanic by trade )

Yeah airbags and IFS, the main reason I got snotty was I had just spent an hour fighting the computer uploading pics and crap only for them to ditch it all. I respect the need for their standard but they dont police it, the site is full of sick builds with bags etc, Ive ripped plenty of ideas off it over the years.
With the IFS I ordered it through Krusin Kustoms ( do the right thing, shop in NZ right ? ) and it showed up wrong, they made a minimal effort to put it right and I had to make the missing parts. So next time Ill go back to ordering direct. No Doubt Heidts screwed it up originally.
The way their kits tie into the frame rails is average, on the Art Morrision ones etc the vertical spring loads are transferred straight into the crossmember, on these and a lot of others it levers against the bottom of the spring mount where it attaches to the frame ( just above rack in pic), these old frames are a 2 piece and not that thick so I plated the frame and raised the crossmember so it attaches to the back of the spring cup aswell which seem to have worked, but then Ive changed a pre-approved product so have fisted myself.
Also shock mounts supplied had shocks mounted in single shear with bolts, I cant change coz pre-approved, so I submit it and it fails, then have to change, again fisting self.
Anyway feds are happy

found lump, 54 olds 324, 371 heads, OE7 manifold, 6 x 94's, Bendtsen adaptor, WC T5 gearbag. It runs into a 95 ish Explorer posi axle, 3.73 gears, 8.8 " crown wheel ( I think ), discs etc. Axle width is key, I didnt want to be shortening etc, I think these are 59" hub to hub or something, whatever it was it was right for the offset I have. Also found out I had staggered width wheels which I didnt realise, spent a couple of hours cursing as to why frame/ guard spacing was off, reason being I had 7 inch rims on one side and 6 on the other ( spoon ).

Hi !! I like to watch but rarely contribute, but I did build a car recently which is now all but done.
Abuse :
So Ive have done the airbag thing with a few cars, had a 53 2 door sedan which was a great driver and I did a heap of miles in it but got tired of people calling it a rat rod and wanted something a bit more rowdy, so I bought this :
found in San Fran on Craigslist, usual painful process but I got it in through Chucks, which I have used before and would use again, he makes it easy.
I knew what I wanted to do from the start so got a hold of a Gambino 4 link and notch kit, and Heidts IFS ( to avoid design approval which took months on the 53 )
got it home, pulled the body of, sorted some rot, cut shit out of floor

Hey bud, I've had a bit to do with these things and recently with vibration analysis on twins, I have the gear for it.
Gist of it was the pumps feed a fair bit through the coupling ( assuming it's closed ) and still through crank. There was a run of couplings coming apart here from that and no one seems to bother balancing blades or shafts, we do it in race boats. Hard to imagine it causing belts to fall off but it won't help the balancer.
I also had an sbc which did it and I reckon some spoon had jacked up the engine on the pulley at some stage, bent crank and pulley.
Go see your friendly local helicopter mechanic and tell them you want them to put their tracking gear on it.

Date on that is jan 2012 , Im assuming this didnt go through ?
Last time I went through it with a stock bodied vehicle with factory chassis with aftermarket 4 link, notch, extra x-members and new IFS it was classed as Scratch built.

Dont they make 18" streeters for the corvair ?
Im jealous as hell

Cool project, where are you?. I've been through the ifs drama. Have a pre approved heidts one in 38 Chevy now and it still took a bit to get it right geometry and strength wise, have had a fatman one too. Be weary of the rods by Reid ones, there's talk of action by lvvta for one they mounted the rack wrong on down south.
That 54 buick is a mates car bought at auction a couple of months ago, that's a big buck ride there

Hello Internet,
I've got a 60 Catalina which I bagged today, and it needs front shocks. I assumed it was an impala underneath but it is very much not. Anyway I lost the stock front shock and need to relocate them, problem being steering tie bar is on back side of arms on this leaving not much room for a shock mount.
What is stopping me running the shock on the forward side of the a-arms ? Lvvta doesn't stupilate, but I haven't seen it before which makes me assume there's a reason why not. Anyone ?
Thanks
