  1. The last 2 weeks have pretty much been just all panel work, which I hate. The roof was rippled and the doors were pretty bad as well. Couple of photos of the guards and valance undersealed and ready to paint
  2. Used a plasma cutter to cut it out, those things are magic, u get a perfect cut. I had to make up another piece to fit in where I cut out. Just to add abit of strength to the valance And this is it tacked in
  3. Righteo more photos and news in this ever lasting project, that seems to just keep on going. Got my new oil cooler the other day, all my oil fittings aren't going to work so I need to get more. Also Iv decided to move my oil cooler down lower, and have it hanging out on show just below the bumper. I know a lot of people hate it when people do this, but i don't care, it ain't your car. Just some photos of me making it fit. Pretty simple, just mark it out on the valance and cut it out. Got it sitting in there to make sure it fits. For a new oil cooler it's pretty shit, all the fins are already bent
  4. I got the diff out as well, getting new brake shoes, and wheel cylinders for it. Also put some pictures up of everything painted. I took all the brake lines and fuel lines out of the car, and painted them to, abit obsessive , but do it once ,do it right ae. Diff out Diff painted Petrol tank painted Steering box look all nice and new All the tie rods painted, also getting all new boots for these All my suspension, painted and lay out. And finally today, got my engine in! I want to get it running but il have to wait awhile. I need to sort out all my oil fittings and lines
  5. I out oil in the engine, and to my disappointment , it leaked straight out. When I modded the sump, it must have warped from the welding. I took the sump off and tried straightening it but had no luck. I decided to rig you some brackets that go around the sump, it should give it more clamping when I do the bolts up
  6. I also cleaned up heaps of the suspension and steering components, u can see there was a lot of dirt and grease on heaps of the things A couple before and after shots
  7. Another update. Got the engine bay all painted last week. Decided to go with a black base coat, with a clear top coat, instead of the 2pac paint I usually paint. Ended up much better, it's a nice deep black, and can be buffed easily Also in the weekend I got all the underneath of the car undersealed
  8. Cheers man. I Defanatly didn't want the look of bolt on flares, I think they look absolutely disgusting on old cars haha
  9. Also got my front discs machined, they are 9mm now, which is minimum manufacturers spec, I'm not guna be doing any racing in this car so I think they'll be just fine. Getting the rear drums machined to
  10. Righteo, today I got the roof paneled and the front guards all paneld, the front guards are guna still need another sand and coat of primer. I put the primer on as thick as I could on the roof and guards. Few shops of before and after primering.
  11. Also today I got the car all cleaned underneath. Bit of physical labour, with a wire brush. Then lifted it up on the forklift and water blasted all underneath it. So that's where I'm upto. Good news for anyone following this, is I'm not doing any other cars til this one is done. It's already been taking to long. I probly won't have updates everyday but will defanatly be puting them up at least once a week.
  12. All the ball joints, are still good, and got them all cleaned up Also since I took the front out, I had to make up something so I could move it around. I found a little trolley thing in the hedge, so thought I'd take that and rig something up Got it made up in about 20mins. Works well and can still roll it outside in the stones
  13. There is a lot of dirt and shit on the suspension. Being a 40year old car, I suppose it's fair that it has a lot of built up crap all over the suspension. Soaked it in petrol the gave it a hit with the wire brush, then a hit it with the water blaster. After a day of cleaning I got everything nice and clean and all painted Everything all painted, what a relief
  14. Pulled all the front suspension out. Have to mod the front cross member, so I have more clearance on the sump. Also want to fully strip the suspension and check out all the ball joints and clean in all up. Just love the simplicity of old cars. 4 bolts and the whole front drops out Front all striped and pulled apart Cut the cross ember and added in new patches. Should do the trick
  15. Also got some new rims. Instead of the 15x8s ,I'm going for 15x9s. I got a pair of guards from pickapart, not exactly cheap, and I only needed hm for the archers which is shit. Few pictures of the guards being out in and tacked in place. Also a picture of the front of the car, with all the front on, and guards welded on
  16. Changing the front over to the new grill and lights, was a bloody stupid idea. I thought I could just swap over the guards and bonnet , and be done with it , but not the case. I had to change everything, all the latch and support panels. Had to drill new holes for the headlight buckets to fit in. The bumper was all mounted different, so was the valance. Got there in he end though.
  17. Also put in some new threads into the sills where the guards bolt to. This is a good tool to invest in. A riv nut gun, well I think that's what it's called. U just drill a hole then out in the threaded rivit. It works the same as a rivit gun Put more steel in the front doors. They were both rusted in the same place as the rear doors
  18. Anyways, got the guards and bonnet off the other corona all bare metal.heaps of little bits of rust all over them. Need to use deoxidene on them. One of the guards already had a patch put in it.it was still good, so I left that. The other one was stuffed so I had to put new steel in.
  19. Righteo long time since Iv been on here. Time for abit of a update. I recently just started getting stuck back into the corona. Have had to much other cars taking up my time. I recently just did a restoration on another corona. Wish I could have just put the 12a into it. It turned out awesome. Picture of before and after Before After
  20. I really want to get the b odd painted and the motor in and running, that should give me the motivation to finish it off. These project cars that take awhile , loose motivation rather quickly haha
  21. Iv also decided to use another style front end. It's off a RT81 model corona. Only problem is the guards, bonnet, and valance are all different. So all that time spent bare metalling and patching the original guards and bonnet was a waste of time haha, Orwell, it was good practise I suppose. I had another stripped out corona out the back, that has been sitting there for about 5 years now. Took the guards and bonnet off and one guard is mint and the other has rust all through the bottom. The inside of bonnet is full of rust, it's going to be abit of a major to fix
  22. After a lot of pissing around, and I mean a lot!, shaping the arches and getting the lines in it perfect, it took a long time. Couple of photos of it all primered. And also paneld the rear quater panel. Still not perfect but pretty good. Will finish it off in the next few days. And the other side
  23. After running them through the Shrinker once or. Twice, I had them lined up. They fitted the original arch off the corona quite well. Got them all welded on Got the wheel sitting at a nice height now. The wheel in the picture has 25mm spacers, so I'm thinking of getting some more rims, some 15x9s will fill out the guards nicely, without the need of spacers
  24. So finally a update on the corona. It's been a long time, have had a few other projects Iv been doing. Am going to be struggling to get this done , this summer, which is a bit of a bummer. But anyways, I couldn't get the car sitting as low as I wanted, well not legally anyway. I had the leafs sitting flat, and 2" lowering blocks and there was still a big gap between the wheel arch and the tyre. I could have put bigger lowering blocks in but then wouldn't even be able to make it over a speed bump without the U-bolts hitting the ground. Only way I could see was to out another arch on the car. I pissed around abit trying to get a bolt on flare, but didn't like the look of a flare, specially on a oldschool ride, I personally think it makes some older cars look ugly. So I had a newer corona out the back of the property. After a few measurements, they looked similar. I cut the front wheel arches off the guards Arches cut off
  25. Yeh , it turned out mint. Lost motivation on the corona. Got so many other projects
