Got the body all primed today. Totally over sanding. Not looking forward to doing the other bits. Thinking I might involve paint striper
-
Oh na na dude. It's all good. I'm actually an apprentice painter at onekawa collision haha
I should've know better.
Works helping me sort it out.
-
This is why you should always buy paint from a local paint shop that has a good reputation.
Having to strip all the paint off and paint it all over again as it was cracking and bubbling, not rust at all.
Going to just do the body this week and doors etc when I can be bothered.
Thinking of staying same colour but also keen on gun metal.
Engine bay is staying this blue as I'm not ripping engine out again. Haha

Got my car back from electrician today. ABSOLUTLY over the moon. Looks so sick!
And of coarse another bunch of things to do >
She's now back in her little corner in my shed
While it was at the electrician it had a few problems.
First my fuel regulator went ape shit and was holding extreme psi and wouldn't adjust so I've brought ANOTHER one
Then two o rings on injectors split and fuel went EVERYWHERE!
Then we discovered my intake manifold isn't straight and needs to be machined down.
Has the biggest vacuum leak so idles at 3000+ rpm idling.
And my timing is out a bit and without my bottom cambelt cover apparently it's quite hard to get it right. So I'll fit that up and take it back.
But who cares. I haven't heard this thing run since July last year.
It was so fucking loud
Can't tell if it's the exhuast, trumpets, or gillies!?
But it's perfect.
Just wrapped to have her home!

Was awesome to see it on its last road trip
Thanks James / ilimin8u for taking her.

Fingers crossed a keeper will sort it out. Went and saw my local spring guy and he said he can sort out quite a few lengths of keepers etc.
just wait till I get starlet back.
Basically I've learnt not to buy things from America that needs a cert. as apparently they don't have anything like that over there
-
I will have to wait to see what height I want to run itat.
Options at the moment are keeper spring or get new longer springs made.
Waste of money in my opinion.
Should've made my own.
-
I'll take your word for it.
Can't exactly go and sort one out till I get the damn car back.
-
Bloody hell!
I had the exact same problem woth the rear and got a engineer to move the thread down so now there permanently on there lowest setting and not adjustable at all!
I don't have my car but I'm guessing with these at there lowest setting is where I'll want them
-
Guess what happened today!
I finally got my coilovers from America that I ordered a lifetime ago!
Very stoked with this
However . . . .
Can someone in the know explain how these are legal at there lowest setting?
As you can see in the photo the spring is free to move up and down. ALOT
and I thought they had tone captive
However on a bit of paper I got with them it says
????
So do I need a keeper spring?
Or are these perfectly legal as when weight is on the shock the spring can exactly go anywhere other than were it's meant to.

Went to pick up my car the other day annnnnd
They haven't done anything in weeks. This weekend I've been working on this
It's the centre of my dash
I got a $600 DVD headunit for way under half price and the dash only has a spot for a single.
I have had to cut out the little coin pocket and the cigarette lighter (might mount one in glove box)
Cut it along some lines that were on it and made a wood shape U to fill the gap
I've super glued it in there then fiberglassed the back. Used fiber resin along the top as I think bog will crack to easy.
And fingers crossed that'll be enought to hold the headunit.
Might have to make back bracing.
Buuuut to hard to do that
WHEN I HAVENT HAD MY BLOODY CAR IN TWO MONTHS!!!

So the starlets been getting wired up since November.
I can hopefully get it beginning of next week.
No forum is complete without a small rust fix.
So here is mine from a few years ago
Please note I was 18 and had only been welding a few months
I got the car with the rear full of bog falling out of rust holes. Was a mess
And I really hate rust so I soaked it in rust kill
I bogged over it and it is still really wavey but because it's covered by the rear bumper I don't care.
I know it's millions better than when I got it and rust free
Also while the cars been away I decided to make a bit of a box whee my rear seat would go.
I'm not havering a rear seat and because the floor isn't flat where the rear seat goes would be a waste of space.
So I built this.
I'm going to mount two speakers in it.
Have my amp mounted under it. And put it on hinges so I can have some tools or jumper cables or something under there.
Unfortunately the battery doesn't fit.
I cannot stand those bloody ugly supercheap battery boxes.
I made my own Wooden one. And covered it in black carpet.
Looks pretty sweet. No photo though sorry.
Pretty sick of not being able to work on my car.

These came today
-
Finished my door cards and chucked them on
Not sure if there going to stay
And decided to start some wiring
Plan is for me to wire up all the original stuff like lights heater etc and then take to auto electrician for engine and link
I regret ever starting the wiring
The amount of times in just wanted to throw the loom at the car and walk away was way too many
We'll see how I get on over the next few weeks

Made up my radiator mounts today.
They will be getting paint
Check out those slyly hidden black gilmores!

Did a bit of shopping and late night painting at work
Painted dash same colour as wheels
It's a BMW grey/black
Much better than that poo brown
And braided line and fitting.
Old bit there was in the way of my intake manifold
Way to expensive to do whole car so only doing a few bits you see

So no updates have been done in a while as my iPad and I bunch of other stuff was stolen.
Done a little work on my wee car.
Engine bay is now painted
This is my colour the whole cars going. Painting is planned for the 5th of April
Put my front shocks in. My wheel is about 1-2 mil away from touching my springs with 5ml spacers. So may need some 10
Attempted to set up front brakes but it's hard when the bloody fluid won't stay in the brake lines
And that's it as of lately.
Brought a new daily so might chuck some money into that!
