  1. New subwoofaaaaa, amp, door speakers, tweeters and an American made OEM-style head unit that of course looks factory, but has all modernized internals (with aux port, usb, etc.). It's all very subtle and you wouldn't even know it's there, so that's a bonus.

Also installed my new less bus-like steering wheel that just arrived from the U S & A (you can also see the new head unit) :

  2. Oh right haha, yeah he was definitely a bit off with his morals. Tried to sell me that how many times before I bought mine... offered it to me for like 25k with the Recaros and big brakes, or 22.7k without the Recaros, or 23.2k without the big brakes, or 19.8k without the Recaros, big brakes or headunit... stupid things like that lol.

    Here's my last one:

  3. Ah, you're talking about Tony. He sold it a while ago and it was single turbo, not TT, and gearbox was pretty much blown and engine missing badly - he should've let the buyer know that I think. Wonder if it's off the road yet :(

  4. Oh, cheers guys! Didn't notice there was another thread :P

Nah, that won't be me mate, I've owned - 5x MKIV Supras, in order; 95' auto aerotop NA, 96' 5-speed NA, 96' auto RZ-s twin-turbo, 98' auto NA & I recently sold my 95' twin-turbo 6-speed aerotop (the only one in NZ), a C4 Corvette (sold), a C5 Corvette convertible (sold). Currently have this Corvette, an 04' E55 AMG and my daily 03' Audi A4 wagon :)

I'm thinking next I might just replace the trim/seals under the targa panels and re-chrome the 't-trim' between the targa panels. Although it's already tidy, if I were to just have those done it will match the rest of it! That's not urgent though, but I'd consider it if I get the parts at a decent enough price. Maybe a small/medium supercharger could be an option too, but that's all just ideas at this stage - might have to save a bit more first before I start getting ideas after what I was just charged for that work!

Ok, so I got the car back from West Auckland Engine Reconditioners as I just wanted a couple of things done (such as fitting the headers, fluid flush & new mufflers) - I ended up getting quite a bit more done in the end, here's the list:

    - Full lube service (engine, gearbox, diff, brakes & radiator)

    - Replaced the fan belts

    - Fit headers

    - Fit air cleaner

    - Fit new custom 2.5" straight through exhaust system

    - Flowmaster rear mufflers

    - New spark plugs

    - New oil filter

    - Air filter spacer kit

    - New fuel filter

    - New pushlock hose

    - New fuel house

    - Hose clamps

    - New heater hose

    - New fuel tank breather hose

    - New accelerator cable

    - Dyno tuned

    - Full tank of 98

    - Adjust steering column for minimum tightness

    - Greased the suspension

    - Re-mount handbrake cables to avoid rubbing on wheels

    - Dismantled carburator and found water & corrosion (possibly from sitting too long)

    - Changed carburator jets & reassembled/cleaned out carburator

    - Drained & completely cleaned out fuel tank

    - Slight leakage from heater core to carpet, so carpet was removed/drained and hung to dry

    - Bypassed heater

    For a total of... :'(

  6. Discussion thread > //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/34566-sics-stingray

    Hey guys,

Here's my 4-speed manual, 350 Chev, 1972 Corvette Stingray - it's had a full rotisserie restoration (put on a 'car spit' and fully restored all the way around) with matching numbers (engine and gearbox are original to the vehicle, i.e. haven't been replaced). It has only 79,000 miles on the chassis too, so that's pretty good for an older car!

So when I picked it up, it had 225/60/15s all-round - far too small for a Corvette! So first thing I did was drive it down to get some 295/50/15s on the rear and 245/50/15s on the front. Here are a few shots of popping in to Nana's to show her the new ride:

...and a couple of interior shots:

First lot of parts arrived - Flowtech headers, Edelbrock valve studs, Edelbrock valve covers & Edelbrock air cleaner:

    Engine shots (before & after):

Before (but I'd polished it up a bit just for fun):

I then took the car down to West Auckland Engine Reconditioners where I spent 'waaaaay' more than I was expecting to (list in next post!).

    Cheers,
