It was for sale for ages then old mate got it as a shop car, obviously pent a lot of money on it so why not finish it.

I had a 1500 wagon in Oz.Such a cool looking car, Shame there’s not much love for them.60k does seem a bit high even for Nz prices.

Curious to know how many 1800/1500s in Nz?

Never used it my self but lots of old American dude's rave about it.

I had a malpassi in my rx3 and it used to make a strange noise.

Anyways it only happened when the car hadn’t been used for a long period of time then after driving around a bit it would be fine.

I ended up replacing it for a turbo smart one.

Correct.The cvt is a disease avoid at all cost.

Audi A1 is also a possible mini equivalent.

We own a 2011Cooper S  R56 with the N18 engine.Avoid the N14 as it was more prone to the timing chain rattle.

so far no dramas with it we picked it up with 89thousand Kay’s only done 10k since.

Our service records show a few expensive repairs.Hpfp being one.

Fun car to drive decent power and good on fuel.Build quality is ok ish no where near as good as most jap cars same goes with our 2018 vw Passat.

The third gen minis seem to have less problems the the previous two generations.

I was in the same boat as you my wife wanted the mini,If you are looking at first gens then at least get the Cooper s and under no circumstances get the auto.

Rusty/crusty old intake.Will give it a quick clean and paint.

Dropped the intake and carby off to lawrie and his son just brought this xu1 with matching numbers,motor and box never been out of the car and it’s been in the same family from brand new.Anything that was replaced such as belts and plugs had been kept and placed in the boot.Shity photo dosnt bo it justice.

Pic of the stromberg 97 and air filter I was thinking I might get.

So I decided to sell the holley and intake and buy a stromberg 97.

This way it will look more period correct and later on when I get some spare cash  I can go for a twin carb setup.

Not sure if i mentioned it but we have done away with the 8ba dizzy and gone back to the crab style.

Also I needed new water pumps but it was fitted with truck pumps to clear the dizzy.These will have to be rebuilt.

If I was to get the correct water pumps it would mean finding a new crank pully etc.

Painted gearbox and gearbox Mount.This will be the same colour as the block 

Oh and a 34 3 window coupe from NZ 

A few engines Lawrie has in his shed.The red one is the old set up in his drag car,now it has a supercharged flatty in it.

Engine is back together and almost ready to start.He has a list of all the wrong or bad parts that had been used in the build so I look forward to seeing that soon.

Will post a vid of it running when I get the call.

 Also engine will be painted a dark green, close to factory colour.

His 33 sedan same colour as my dad's one.

So Lawrie came and picked up the engine in his model A pick up.
