Front shocks arrived today, modifed Monroe Corona inserts (unsure of which model, but 70mm shorter stroke, 50mm shorter body than stock). Will get a pic of them when I can. Now just waiting on PowderJZX's contacts for the rest of the shocks and springs!

Yeah, they've offered to fix it. Which I assume means they're gonna bust out the tap and die set and rethread the two studs.
-
Just a quick update. Mag and Tyre Direct here in Palmy threaded two wheel nuts, one on each of the front studs.
Also, I discovered while the rims have been sitting at Dad's after they came off the Bluebird, one got pretty badly scuffed up. Was annoyed at first, but not worried anymore, and gonna leave it like that for now
Went to install the 6x9s I got for my 21st from a friend last weekend, and Dad put a hole in one of them, so he replaced them with some 'Vifa' 150WRMS ones from Jaycar, on clearance at $119. Pretty decent magnets on them, too. Didn't come with speaker covers so stuck the old Pioneer ones on, lol.
Also put my head unit and some 4" 40WRMS Response speakers from Jaycar in the front, as I didn't want to cut the door cards up at all, would be a waste with the interior in such good condition. Stuck my old Alpine Type-R sub and Cadence amp in the boot, and that concludes this weekend's updates. Oh, apart from this..

I agree with Vintage, I've always dreamed of doing one of the Super Carrys with a bike engine.

Ryan, do you mean completely remove the air filter, just leave the empty box?
-
I'm also thinking removable boso pipes, just because..

Powder, I want my 1G to sound something like yours! I want a period correct muffler/tip similar to yours, none of this dumpy shit. Anyone got any idea where I could find something of the sort, or would I be better to get something made up?
-
Also, what's needed to make a 1G-E sound nice? Apart from getting rid of the noisy factory fan and installing an electric one.
-
I'm keen on the stuff you have, I can sort the modified bumpstops from somewhere like that. I have 195/45/15s on the wheels atm, I will possibly lower it on the standard wheels and see what that's like when I have the bits and pieces, then I can just get WOFs with the standard wheels maybe..

How's the legality with coilover sleeves these days? I've seen a bit of stuff about coilovers being harder to get certed now?

More pictures are available here and all pictures taken will be uploaded there

Anyone had any experience with AE86 rear shocks on a GX71? How's the ride?

Discussion here
So my 910 Bluebird is going up for sale as soon as it's fixed (Dad reversed into it with a Mazda BT50), and I have replaced it with this, a 1985 GX71 Toyota Cressida. Absolute mint condition, only things that don't work are a couple of interior/dash lights and the power window lock button. Paid $2900 and drove her 400km back from Tauranga on the 1st of July.
When I got her, sitting outside my grandparents place in Tirau

I'll be there with two non-members that will hopefully be on here soon.
-
Sweet! I'll have my GX71 by then, still undecided as to whether I should drive it on my learners so you guys can have a look.
-
Still 7.30pm at the Te Manawa car park on the 5th, so far?
-
Sweet, yeah that's them. Are you Simon Monteith? If you are, I've heard of you through them. I may be bringing two people as well as me. Will keep an eye on this thread for the time.

I'm new on here, my name's Sean, and I will be coming to the next monthly meet, hopefully with my mate and his AE86. 7.30pm 05/07/12 at the Te Manawa car park, walk to Noodles & Dumplings? Also, do any of you guys know Paul or David Smith from Feilding?
-
Any updates on this? My Bluebird may be written off, and looking into a GX71 to replace it. I'm also in Palmy. Are the GX71s IRS or solid rear axle, by the way?
