  1. +1 to paying asap.

Myself and +1 will be landing in chc at approx 11.50am on friday, and would like a ride up.

In return, I offer my charm, copper mcgentle, a firm handshake and a box of south islands finest ale.

If I get my shit together I may be able to give you and your +1 a ride! Also have something to accompany copper mcgentle too.....

  2. Got my steering parts, pedals and pedal box back from blasting on friday, if anyone in chch needs sand blasting done I highly recommend Blaine from Fast Blast. Quick turn around and well priced!

I think I'll cut my losses with the crispified R30 pedal box heaps of blow through from the thin rusty metal left over from the fire it was in. But the auto C31 pedal box already as the studs for a clutch master cylinder so if I use the pedals and pedal shaft from the manual box all should be gravy! Oh and of course all the springs, nuts, washers and shaft got the gold zinc treatment   :D

Will get the windscreen sorted before I spend more money on the steering etc but really want to get everything done soon. Pics for fred.

  3. Almost saved enough to get the screen done!   :D So in the mean time thought I'd get a few things done that didn't cost money. The pedal box from the R30 I stripped out was quite rusty and pretty crispy from the fire it was in, but I'm getting it sandblasted to see how bad it is underneath poked a few holes in it from chipping off some rust   :? Also took it all apart to get the pedals out and will get those sand blasted and powdercoated black with gold zinc springs, shaft, nut etc   :D Because I'm a hoarder I kept the draglink and idler arm to reco and swap into the Laurel at a later date so today(last wednesday) I took it all apart and was pleasantly surprised to find Nolathane bushes already in the idler arm score! Going to get all those parts sandblasted and powdercoated black also. The joints in the draglink feel pretty good not notchy so might be able to get away with just re-greasing them and new boots instead of getting them rebuilt. Taped up all the important bits and shoved in some hose to protect the taper. Once I'v got some more coin I'll get new inner and outer tie rods for each side as the boots are split on the ones in the Laurel.

  4. Called Jeremy at Southern Autoglass on tuesday, looks like it's going to be $218 fitted for a new screen. But the downside is the screen is in Auckland and could be $50 to ship it down :( Really want to get the new screen done, manual conversion and some slam before the Mainland Meet to Hanmer. Going to be very busy these next few weeks.

  5. It's been a while but still very slowly chipping away at things. Fitted a 100A circuit breaker to replace the factory fusable link that went to the battery. No power to ignition unless the switch is closed :D

Once I've got my shed set up (didn't fit where I initially wanted to put it) I'll clear some crap out of the garage drive the 180 out, turn it around so I can jack the rear end up sort out the back brakes. Hopefully this weekend!

  6. Had the post Datsun club Queens birthday weekend cruise motivation buzz this today! Bart came over last night and rarked me up into removing the trim round the windscreen in prep for the windscreen removal. That was a piece of cake a bit too easy I think.... So this afternoon with a bit of help from Kirsty got the windscreen out yay! Although I now need a new one :( Cracked pretty quick was trying to be careful but oh well s*hit happens! Was quite a mission actually that glue stuff doesn't come off easy. It's not too rusty behind the screen will have to give it a go over with a wire wheel and re asses. New screen it is! Hopefully I can track one down.... If so I'll talk to the dude from Southern Autoglass. Did a pretty good job of Karl's Mk2 Cortina wags screen I hear.

Also started putting together my new garden shed with Kirsty's help. Nothing better than a chick who knows how to use a drill! Once I get the roof on I'll put all my spare bits and bobs in it and make more room in the garage to do work on the 180B. Manual conversion coming up soon.

  7. Ok so I have bought a new daily...... There is a lot of maintenance that I want to get stuck into but still wanted something I can get to work in. New daily is '93 Daihatsu Charade Detomaso. 1.6L 5spd with factory recaro's and nardi wheel! Got it mega cheap so will save $$ on gas and have a little rice rocket to hoon round in.

So the list of things I want to do goes like this:

*Fix leaky front screen and repair any rust that could be lurking underneath

*Alloy Radiator will be much cheaper than a re-core as mine is pooozed! Would be nice to drive up hills again without risk of BHG

*5spd conversion, pretty much have all the bits bar new clutch kit and new master and slave cylinders!

*Disc brake conversion, have all the parts may just need new pads and some rubber hoses also have matching brake master cyl

*Install spare R30 struts as my front discs are also poozed!'

*MAX SLAM! I've had this for about a year and half and I think it's time for some looooow. Will use the R30 struts for slammage as to retain factory spec orgi's

*Some sweet oldschool 14's would be lovely too

*Still debating on what to do with the engine, wanting to keep it L series but which direction?? Already doing a turbo build so thinking either supercharged, ITB's, triples or twin su's

*Headers and exahust but will need to work out what I'm doing engine wise first

The windscreen is priority at the moment hopefully can find a replacement C31 screen   :?
