Just make it doort/crackle/pop like a boss.

How much does being 'period correct' worry you?
Seems with itb/bike crabs you will end up with something that has little resemblance to original spec (though still cool).
Different situation (m20), but I decided with DCOE's because anything wiring related is black magic to me, and paying someone to wire the lot is way out of reach.
Being a ballache is part of the allure of carbs. It's old, it's quick, it's supposed to give you a headache.
A good ITB setup will give you the best performance in every single aspect though.- 1

Primo idea with the engine stands. Is there enough ground clearance get full rotation?
-
I will end up hanging on to every vehicle I own, usually due to putting them in such a state of disrepair no one would want them anyway.

Haha you know I'm right, that one I was looking at sold as is.
-
Suppose they've always been a classic, but these were always under appreciated due to e30's/2002's taking all the glory. Values have shot up in the last two years and will continue to do so I reckon.

HI,
your car is cool,
those wheels will be bloody ridiculous,
I am in love.- 1

Must have tossed them out during disassembly, I recall a few pieces were too corroded to reuse, cheap as chips on ebay.
-
I was planning on using that bit as well. Just machine/grind the toothed face flat I think.
There's a writeup on chalopy.
Otherwise there's a guy from the UK that sells conversion kits on ebay, bring your wallet though (about 50 pounds).

What style you going for with the bars?
-
Pretty sure I took a heap of photos when disassembling the lot, will have a look when home.
Also use http://www.cmsnl.com , punch in your chassis number and the parts diagrams will all be there! -
Thanks man, that would be great. Have it mostly figured out but any information is invaluable.
-
Doh, was using phone to view.
Carry on then -
No way mate, you wanna feel the wind/sand through your crotch like a true buggy enthusiast would.

Change of plans, engine will now be 2.8 litres.
Easier, cheaper, and more powah (proven 184 at the wheels with efi, no idea with carbs)

so... updates
thought I'd make a start on reassembly since I had all the bits needed, split crankcase before cleaning
spent a good hour or two removing all the baked on gaskets, cleaning bearings, applying lube where needed,
found these cracks throughout, they aren't deep but show on both sides :/
should I be concerned or just roll as is?
was about to but..
Yeah, don't cheap out on gaskets. These shitty things weren't even close. Avoid 'NLK' branded ones at least.
I've just spent hours measuring every single spec on the parts really, so it better be the one and only time I split it.
Did buy some tires, last in stock at cycletreads and didn't have to pay gst, win.
Oh, also rebuilt the carb, wired a modern rectifier, chopped spare ct90 bars to turn into a clubman-ish set.
Should be updating more often now as the most tedious bits are over.

Fuck. Those. Spiders.

Updates in a few days, I'm way too pedantic for quick progress haha.
Also, don't you hate when you remember that one essential item you need, right after your order is placed? Yeah..

Used to work in the stockroom for these guys, the decorative knobs might be what you're after.
Mostly ceramic and brass as far as I remember. -
What the shit you've lowered it already. Awesome.

Just realised I have a fresh wheel cylinder and set of brake shoes for you. Call in if you're ever nearby, completely forgot about them.
-
Oh damn, must have sprung a leak on the way back?
Happy it's gone to a good home, 175's would work well with a lower profile.
-
I use tinypic, free/easy.
Colour came out awesome!

For some reason I always picture old Mitsi's in some form of turd gold , so I guess it's kind of fitting.
edit: also think those wheels are perfect haha
