So sweet man, well done! Looking forward to some e21 dorts.
Why 45 webers over 40s? have been told triple 40s would be great for even a high revving m20.

Success!
plug for the guys at Wairau Alignment Suspension and Repairs (big blue and yellow building), jumped to help out even on their lunch break.

Did try that, problem is there is minimal clearance between the studs and the hub centre (stupid Germans and their efficient use of space).
So the largest bit of rod I could fit in there still bent under pressure.
Will see if I can find a fitting tomorrow and try again maaaybe
-
Thanks for all the input,
gave it another shot, I think the photo below summarises tonight's efforts
Any workshop recommendations before I take it to the first one I see tomorrow?
-
Yeah tried a bar between the studs, smashed the shit out of it with a hammer too! Suppose I'm not heavy enough. Will try again tonight but might give in and take it to the workshop.

North Shore (Albany), don't mind heading across town

No vice haha, should probably invest in one but that would require a bench.
happy to provide beers to anyone that does

I have trailing arms sitting in the garage with the hubs/disks still attached.
In my rush to remove this setup from a parts car I forgot to take the damn axle nuts off before disassembly.
SO
Any ideas on how I can remove them? No leverage because any torque applied just swings the trailing arm around the hub axis. No brakes, tried a fuckload of heat and 1 leg on the trailing arm with the other on the breaker bar, only option I can think of is cutting it off.
Would one of those torque multiplier things aircooled guys use be any good? Can't see how it would work without brakes applied/everything still assembled.
For clarification, its a pos 36mm castle nut that seems untouched from the day it left the factory.
Can upload pics when I get home.
Feel free to take the piss, rarely do I manage to fuck myself over this badly. -
Just saw sheepers heading northbound in the crown, maaaaaate. Looks so damn good rolling.
-
Yeap sold it to me. I bought the leg guard and pod from Japan & gave it a bit of a service then sold it to some guy from Waiheke Island when low on cash. Regretted it since!
Glad it's in good hands.

IF I was looking, $4990 seems a reasonable price to me if the condition is as described. You just don't see many in a decent state anymore.
As per Richy though, would bargain to $4500 if possible. -
BUT IT IS A GERMAN CAR, THE ONLY CROSS BREEDING ALLOWED IS WITH AN AUDI 5CYL CHURBO.

Rhd engineering in Australia is the shit for flash m20 itb's if a lotto win comes your way. Tuned, tested and all that.
-
m12 is the answer
-
What are you expecting when it's done sparkle? (Power wise)
-
m10s are a bloody pain to get power out of unless you spend mega $$ or go turbo.
Can find a m20b25 for good money if you're diligent, got mine for $400.
stroke it out to 2.7 or 2.8 for extra smiles.
+ they sound boss. -
Nah mate this be a fine piece of German engineering.
m42/m44 or m20 all the way- 1
-
How far back would you be shoving the m20 in man?
2002's are so damn sweet to drive when lightweight, just concerned having that beast over the front axle would ruin the balance somewhat.
You know your shit so I'm sure it'll be cash either way.

Did those wrenches for the carb manifold do the trick mate?
Such a cool car, best colour for it too. -
Actually, what if it was mounted right where the lower triple clamp is? Still hope for oversized looking cool I reckon.
Would flow better if in line with tank/frame horizontal. -
Haha no updates worth mentioning, exams have me by the balls at the moment. Soon though.
Apparently the m45 Michelins go pretty well, I got them from cycletreads. Definitely call up if you're ordering though 'cause their online stock levels are often out of date. -
Yeah but that's just a mould, I'm a natural skeptic/tight anyway.
+ carbs are enough of an adventure to get right haha.
edit for pic:
nooooooooo deal

As paperweights, they'd be brilliant.
Have heard a few accounts of the metal/castings being absolute junk.
Weber DCOE's aren't that much more expensive, would not risk.- 2
