  1. Thanks for the advice, I've got a flasher unit on the way now thankfully.

Have checked the wiring multiple times over & fairly certain everything is connected properly. What you said sounds right re. the indicators and ground though. Wondering if the switches could also be a source of my problems. Have cleaned them out but who knows.

Tried two coils but no spark. New condenser + rectifier as well.

Going to try a third coil when it arrives, hopefully that sorts spark issue because the wiring passed my basic continuity tests hah.

Auckland's a great place to live you know, many bargains to be had.

(Above statement is in no way biased by a desire to have it solved for me)

  2. Dredging this up from the dead,

Anyone have experience putting a motorbike through a revin with an aftermarket engine?
The s90 (90cc) is giving me grief to no end, if I get it running with stock engine then cool, otherwise will be putting in a 155cc running 12 volt (will happen eventually anyway).

No frame mods are required, and I suppose I could file off the displacement casting. But it's quite obviously not a honda motor and anyone with eyes can spot that.

Would it still be able to be vinned as an s90? Many hoops to jump through over the standard procedure?

There is record of previous registration on their system, but only with a chassis number.

  3. Without giving away too much(it may not happen), Palmerston North, medium sized four cyl, handlebars not really above tank level so height shouldn't be a biggie.

No particular rush to collect, could be in a few weeks to a month.

you've probably worked it out anyway

  4. If all my cards line up right, I may be purchasing a motorbike from the lower North Island.
It can't be ridden and there's a bit to bring up to Auckland so a van would be ideal.
Is anyone willing to lend one? Will return it with a full tank of gas + payment of your choice.

I know it's a big ask, so failing that, any recommendations for hiring one?

Have looked at the mainstream options but the charge per km would ruin me.

    Cheers,

    Berj

  5. Yeah I would work on the loom if it wasn't tucked away with everything connected inside the pressed frame.

Last thing I want is to sort this issue, then have it fuck out on me and have to pull the whole thing out again haha.

Thankfully I scored a shop manual with the wiring diagram so that's one less headache!

Thanks, though your kawa is really something to brag about, if only I had the coin!

  6. Well there's something up in the loom, probably a short in the nether regions.
Can'd be fucked pulling off the conduit and tracing it so have ordered a NOS replacement. Bonus is this one is labelled with an original mode l# and production year. Should help with revin.

Fingers crossed it does the trick.

  7. Honda tech: "Oh hey you know what would be hilarious?! A rats nest of wires in a shitty little headlight bucket where connections prove a nightmare to trace!"

The bike is almost complete again, just going to get a new chain and bolt on the bling bling chain guards.
Stock handlebars for now as I need to re vin, easier when it's all standard as in case I need verification from the good old VCC.

Tried starting it as well but the stupid bloody 2 wheeled piece of misery has no spark, checked the condenser, coil, points. No idea what else it could be.

System is 6 volt, any ideas?

Ready to reunite it with the bike and get the damn thing back on the road.

Didn't repaint the crankcase/head etc because a] I'm lazy, b] kinda like the fact it doesn't look rebuilt and c] paint would mess with heat dissipation apparently.

  9.

edit: another hilarious and probably irrelevant part was the commutators were egg shaped and the brushes would bounce off the commutator at a million revs, easily solved by spinning them up on the lathe and cutting them round.

hahaha holy shit, yeah I'm not going to risk the cash. Will hold out on the second hand market.

  10. fair enough, what do you mean by rubbish? I can deal with poor finish/bit of messing about to get 100% but shit functionality is a deal breaker. That marquip is sweet, but after a bit of reading I'd need a 16 ideally. Have been after one for ages but they rarely turn up on the tard.
