Thats all I've got on that part

right so I've sorted most of the other Wof issues but however due to work commitments I will have to pay the $50 again for another Warrant - Oh well

also managed to get the Air con compressor working again. However wont be gassing it just yet as the Vacuum operated heater tap control isnt doing its thing properly ( I put a new tap on it but it still dont work right!

  2. Ok so as my last post This failed its WOF.

A few minor things it failed on and of course the big thing which was rust

My neighbour down the road offered his services for rust repair so I took him up on his offer.

we picked the scab on the C pillar

    latest%20photos%20aug%202016%20038_zpsxc

and then found it had another rusty hole behind that one

  3. If I may add my 2 cents here.

once you have all the correct parts to run a column shift manual v8 in the car, you will not be able to run much in the way of aftermarket headers/extractors on the RH side as the shifter linkages will be in the way. without some cutting and welding of the pipes.

That is of course if your going to chase a few more neddies out of said V8.

  4. Thanks Mate. I thought he was legit but wasnt quite sure (he is my new Wof guy since I moved region last year)

C pillar rust is within that 300mm of seatbelt mount

Oil leak is at the rear of the tappet covers (both) spits a little bit of oil down the back of the block which then drips onto the exhaust. Sounds worse than what it is. easy

  5. Sorry for late reply (busy)

Wof man pinged me on two spots of rust the size of a 20cent piece.

first being on the left front door slightly pitted you could say.  within 150mm of the door latch mechanism ( Apparantly thats a bit of a no-no. Maybe either Cletus or Alltorque could verify this)

second being the very corner of where the C pillar meets the rest of the body

    where I have circled

  6. Just found this thread.

The year was 2002. in the Hawkesbury region of NSW Australia I was 14 going 15. Mum was doing the Neighbour on the property over yonder (we all had roughly 60ha's of land as part of an old subdivision from an old beef farm.)

Anywho I walked over to the neighbours house after a scrap with my stepfather (the guy my Mother will soon divorce) to see my mother and said as i got through the door "I'm going to get a motorbike If I have to keep walking over here" . the neighbour says to me that he has one. That I can have If I can get it going. Mint

He was a trucker by trade and in his spare time restored vintage trucks. we head on down to his sheds and underneath a 1968 Mack Truck was a 1981 Suzuki Rm250 2t

this old pig had been lying on its side for 10 years at this point the seat was torn the plastics were brittle and the rear fender was gone

hey... who gives a fuck I scored a free bike!

    39de14bab8280f392034c7e9aefe7fc7.jpg

all it needed was some fresh fuel/oil and a sparkplug. had no clutch lever either so had to push it up hill. jump on and bump start it in first gear. needless to say I got it going.

So anyway I was having a Fuckin' ball gunning this thing around the property.

    No helmet .

    No boots

    No protective gear

    No Worries..

went through a barbed wire fence at 70kph (at a guess ) Bike got tanlged in the fence I on the other hand carried on over the fence and into the dust skidding on my belly for couple of metres. (fucking ouch).

untangled the bike wheeled home after kickstarting it until I was blue in the face it wouldn't start.

Fast forward a month to mishap number #2

Took the bike around to my best mates place in Yarramundi (40 mins drive south ) with help of mums now trucker /neighbour/new Dad and his Ford F350 ute

Brent , My mate and his Old man were dirt bike nutters fitted me out with a new clutch lever and a HELMET (yep I was going up in the world)

We still could not get my bike to run so we tow started it. Brent towing me on his xr250  after a couple of towed laps on his 5Ha property my bike began to pop and fart, smoke and soon sprung into life.

Now as the bike is going  Im not really watching where we are going. im trying to take the tow rope off my bike (while in motion)

we go past a palm tree.

Brent goes to the left side

Not watching I go to the right side of it.

the rope still attatched to our bikes.

The rope goes taught thanks to the tree Brent goes flying over the handlebars thanks to his bike  being violently pulled back out from under him

I get yanked by the handlebars 180 degrees and I now get Sandwiched inbetween my Bike and Brent's burnt my leg on Brent's exhaust and got winded because I was the fleshy meat bag cushioning the impact of 2 bikes colliding together side on.

and that was the end of my bike  couldnt get it to go again after that so I sold it to a bike wreckers for $50 (regret it now should of rebuilt it)

Since then Ive always kept and eye open for another 81 rm250. I still ride today now on a 06 KX125

    and thats my story.

  7. Good job, ride height looks near perfect to me.. maybe could be half an inch lower in the back tho still

I agree with you there needs that half an inch hopefully after it settles it may drop a teeny weeny bit more

    nice indeed.

    does it drive better?

Can't say just yet havent driven it since before box says up to 20% more stiffnes so I Imangine it will time will tell once I get around to finishing the front door rubbers/bailey channels

  8. Would of updated last night but Botophucket was not available.

Anywho yesterdays progress on the lowering job. Take note of the Lovells springs box beside the car in relation to height/ drop

    before

    Boing Comparo

    2inchdrop%20004_zpsyqla9y2v.jpg

not too much difference half way through the job I got worried if there would be any difference (would of felt like a right dumb cunt if i swapped in the same type of springs). Also took the gamble and Didnt buy new shocks to match good thing I didnt as the springs remain captive when car is jacked up- score i suppose

Also found the rear shocks are Bilstein units.  Cool! no pics of them yet as I didnt have much time

    and the final Result

    2inchdrop%20006_zpsabuhkojl.jpg

As you can see shit be lower so quite happy with that. had to take the Towbar off to shut the garage door still then only have a  Bee's dick clearance front and rear of the giant sedan

    More yet to come

    Cheers

  9. Well I'm pretty fuckung useless!

however I have some progress. (If you'd call it that).

As per my last post This thing had done a head gasket. Turns out whoever the fuckwit was who assembled the engine (not me I just bought it as a complete engine) didn't fit the head locator dowel thing on the rIght hand side rear of the block this was the cause of all the boiling  and coolant dumping into the sump. so yeah.  Had to replace those.

Also fitted an electronic choke Now it runs like a swiss watch.

Now something has been slowly fucking me off about this car have a look!

    sabbath%20050_zpstis3dzo3.jpg

Not so noticeable in this photo but shit it obvious IRL. -its the ride height. namely the rear end  I always thought the front was low for a supposed "standard" car. but the rear end takes the cake

so now Ive been spending some money and I bought some of this shit.

    sabbath%20068_zpsfwlbxctz.jpg

2inch lowering springs for the rear

a new electric ariel (someone has removed the motor from the old one(seriously! why the fuck have people being doing half arsed shit with this car)

new outer weather strips front and rear to stop my doors filling up with water

and a new bailey channel to eliminate the whislting sound while driving.

    and...

    sabbath%20069_zpssrnhgcsy.jpg

    chrome door strikers

will hopefully be fitting it all on the weekend.

Have more plans in the pipeline for this.

  10. well Said Speeno.

I've never really dealt with the Holley series of carbs so I cannot really comment about them. However Used to run a Black 202 which I had a number of combos fitted.

standard Black 202 Consists of a Varajet carb and a Twin pipe exhaust Manifold I found this to be quite alright  Alot of people Poo poo the Varajet But its effectively llike half a Quadrajet- Small primary Vac Secondary. Will pull more flows than a Holley 350 any day from What I have heard. worked well and never had to correctively maintain it.

then I sawpped it over for a Weber Adm coon carb and aftermarket extractors  good setup like the above  not much difference from the seat of the pants still good

Then The VK EFI setup  this was the final combo I fitted. These old efi setup are extremely crude and basic. I suppose thats the beauty of it. They take a reading from the Negative side of the ignition coil and fire in a batch fire setup of 2 groups of 3. definitley not economical on the gas. good on cold starts though!

Now If I was to do it all again I would probaly used the VK EFI hardware but wired up on an aftermarket ECU that I could tune myself but that would cost some $$$$$

    just my $0.02
