So, cream won the vote. I think it looks choice now. The interior is staying as is, everybody thinks its fine the way it is and I tend to agree. Von dutch pin striping for the win.

So, I ended up Painting the sides of the roof and I also painted a spare correct model visor I had laying about. Looks heaps better now I reckon. Cheers to camel for popping around helping me fit up the visor, bit of a two man job as you have to stretch that sucker on.
Been driving it heaps, nearly sorted all the bugs out of it. Needs a carb kit next, not looking too flash. Also need to put taller gears in it, its no good for cruising at 100. Luckily I still have the 3.5:1 diff from my XP sedan project, so will swap the gears over at some stage.- 5

Looks mint bro. The colour will be super stealth in that location.
Reminds me of my mates place down the road in Happy valley. There old man put a house container up on the hill that looks out over Ohiro bay. It was on a train carriage / train tracks and could be moved around for optimum sun and viewing position. Not sure if its still there though, cant see it on google earth. Crazy but true.

Ah, yes I thought your place looked familar, I grew up in Brooklyn and lived just up the road from your place in Reuben Ave. My first job was working at the petrol station (I presume it is still there?) although back then in the 90's it was a dodgy old BP with an even dodgier workshop...

Awesome! Just read through this now. What burb are you setting up this piece of fine engineering in?

and yeah, if you do buy one, must be full mexican spec.

yeah man drive it happy while you can!
I going to keep this one on the road at least until the XP sedan is finished!
OK, so I sanded back the A & B pillars and also around the rear window tonight. If you could have see nit in the sun you would probably want to do the same, it was very sparkly! Anyway, can't decide between satin black and the satin cream body colour. I already have colour matched cans ready to spray. Hmm decisions. I think black might be a bit ghetto though.

I should stop working on it. I keep finding little stuff wrong, even though really its fine.

The first thing the missus said when she saw it in the driveway was "It looks a bit Mexican?" made me laugh!
Im definitely leaving the roof lace painting though, its pretty choice as is.

Yes, its very unique. The interior was quite gold, I have painted a heap of stuff black but the head lining, seat inserts and bottom of door trims are still gold for now. Want to sort that out at some stage, golds not really my favorite colour haha.
Cant be too fussy with these things though when buying old cars. Old Falcons seem to be one of those cars that people always have to play with...

Why buy one old car when you can have two for twice the price?
I had second thoughts buying another old car when the other is not even finished but meh, its had to be done. Plus how handy will it be chasing parts and picking up stuff from bunnings?!

So, I bought this to keep my sedan company :Seems like early falcon utes are all the rage now. Actually been looking for ages as some of you might know. It ended up being the least rusty one I could find in my search over the last 10 months. Its actually really straight, the tray is in really great shape, no dents and still has the original wooden boards as well.
It Has bit of a ratty look but I have toned it down a little since buying it. The metal gold flake is quite in your face but its kind of cool. I think I might paint the B pillar sides the same cream body colour though but keep the roof as it is. Im not sure about the pin striping or the gold seats but its one of those things the more you look at the more used to it you become. Gives it a bit of character I suppose! It has a XW 221 pre cross flow engine, BW35 auto with T bar floor shifter, headers, twin exhaust, XF radiator with twin electric fans, stock drum brakes and stock diff, Mercury Comet metal chrome dash surround, plus its lowered of course! I have swapped my steering wheel over, makes it a bit more roomy in the cabin as I am quite tall and these things are not renowned for there interior space! It drives pretty good, better than I thought it would ha-ha. I need to do a few more little things but for now its a good useable ute to have some fun in, plus it was already registered here in Victoria. That was actually the selling point as made it easy to get in my name, so pretty happy with that

Hey, not sure if its been mentioned or not but I just watched a recently released movie called "the way way back." There is a Buick wagon that features in the movie same as yours, it gets quite a bit of screen time. The movie is pretty funny as well!

That is pretty stink. The joys of second hand parts.
Maybe just rebuild the transmission and make the best of the 2 you have.

Looking good! Love the Mooneyes wheel, I have just ordered a 34cm white one for my car

If my car wasn't still in bits I would've gone to this for sure!!! Saw lots of awesome rods heading to this on Thursday and Friday
You in Melbourne as well? I guess the next good big event will be the custom nats at Phillip Island in Jan, I definitely want to have my Falcon going for that!

I went to this today, such a great turn out! http://www.chopped.com.au/I am definitely going next year in my Falcon, might even camp out for a couple of days, looks like so much more fun having a few drinks at night (and during the day lol) There are live bands playing all day and night and Gene Winfield was there from the USA this year.Did not manage to get many pics of the dirt drags, it was quite crowded down there and unfortunately the vintage dirt track speedway was closed. Apparently there was an accident on the Friday, some guys barrel rolled there car 1950's style! Nobody hurt though luckily. Its pre 1965 cars and pre 1970's bikes only. Everything must be traditional or modified. Enjoy.

Wow, that visor is top dollar but I guess indeed rare in nz. $100 Max for one here, they are pretty easy to come by. Its funny, the XP had a XM one fitted (different buldges) so I've swapped them and thats the one i painted cream. Still have the gold metal flake gold one set aside.
