Mk3's are rwd? sorry not following

Hi
would like to know if a crossflow out of a mk2 escort will simply "bolt in" to a mk3 cortina
Appreciate your oldschool wisdom!
thanks.

Ok.... change of plan for the escort!
For now i want to save some $ so I'm putting the 1600 back in coupled to a 5 speed. Have been thinking maybe a 4age or 12a would of been more suitable? plenty of time to decide as i will put something in it one day
Picked up some parts yesterday, picked up a type 9 for $300
He chucked in two diff heads as well which was choice, any help I.D'ing them would be good, he said one was an lsd internal cones or something don't know.
If you've got any ideas please let me know

Plus a cylinder head, suspect its a 1300? as its slightly different to mine. Would like to be proven wrong though!
Heres some of the work I've been doing, wasn't happy enough with the work i got done so i re-did the majority

Ok car has sat to the side for a bit now! went overseas, handed over the vehicle bay key (big shed which accomadates everything needed to work on cars) have been on waiting list since.
Looks like ill be getting a key next week! so work can carry on
..been thinking about this for a while now.. just proitys have changed a bit this year, think i will put the 1600 back in coupled to a 5 speed type 9 + a rebuilt diff. Just going to allow me to still drive the car for summer etc plus its still orginal. One day i will go all out and make it a crazy "street legal track car" but for now getting a house is more important to me.
Hate it or love it think its what i'm going to do for now ....one day though
This is a little of what i have been up to. Basically re-done all the welding inside the cabin
Didn't plan on it but basically replaced all drivers floor
Plus some of the passengers
Will update proper once im back, plus take a few more photos of the stuff im doing etc
-
yeah i'd like to see a side on view of that. it has to be body dropped to be that low and i'm pretty sure if that's a rover in it, they cleared the bonnet.

whats the offset on the rims? are they the 15x7 +20? also how much did it cost to get the pcd re-drilled??
15x8 + 10 all round & 195/45's
edit: as for price don't think it was much more than 100 mate

WOOHOO!
Picked up my engine, Late model Spec R / With 6 speed tran will be converting to 5 speed most likey before i drop it in. Solves speedo drive issue + the 6 speeds can't handle much more than 300hp
Very motivating opening the garage to see this, currently fixing the firewall / heater bowl section you can see the damage on my last post currently making up my own panels and welding them in
All in all, Stoked

Long time no update!! Been away on trips with work for the most part of the year.. Now i'm back in camp its all go
Kinda sad to see the crossflow go was a great engine pretty good for a 1600 from the 70's thats for sure heres a quick vid just before i removed it
Crossflow taking its last breaths
Engine bays gone from this....
To this
battary tray removed, radiater support cut back. Ready to have some of the holes etc filled, gussets welded in & seam welded. Undecided on chassis rail mounts will see how the engine fits may fab some up to go off the crossmember
Started to take back the underside, will be taking it all back to bare metal not quite as fun as the engine bay as i get covered in shit
Far from there but its a start.. will be chipping at it for the rest of week/ weekend once its all back i will start welding up the bay & seam welding the chassis rails then onto the mounts
-
Besides the stop chasing speed part, i think it looks awsome
-
Hey man, good to hear your still training hard & what you must be half way through now. Bit more of a challenge than just doing basic
Good choice on the wheels look forward to seeing em on the eskie! Ive been away on trips for the most part of the year, will be getting stuck into my car this week too!
